Just replaced the screen on my Mrs 11 pro and I slightly damaged the flex and have no sound, Just ordered a new speaker and flex from Amazon but now realise face id will never work again because the original flex is broken 😭
I should have watched this video first, Appreciate the tips, will help for when I install the new one tomorrow 🤦♂️ 😆
How badly is the flex damaged
Assuming it’s not torn in half it might be fixable
@@repaironwheelshave a similar issue, speaker is muffled and cracked.
My mom threw the original flex cable away by accident how can I replace the felx cable without losing face id?
Retaining Face ID relies on that flex cable. Sorry to say but that ship has sailed
Oem iphone screens come with a whole new assembly for screen, ear speaker and prox, they do not sell them separately though
@Stevo1728 my main vendor get a hold of them from time to time. But unless you are apple or participate in IRP there’s no way to program the new flex to the phone for Face ID to function
Can you confirm if this works with the just the standard iPhone 11?
11 and 11 pro max have individualized parts. But it’s the same process
I accidentally ripped that flex cable changing battery. It's half way ripped at the bend but still intact and my face id stops woking. Can I solder it back? Will it work?
You’re better off soldering the flood illuminator to a new flex. Do you know how to solder
So,just swap the ribbon and face id will remain working? Or I need to reprogram it?
And need to solder only two points?
Replacing the flex results in the loss of Face ID. You need to retain the original flex. No amount of reprogramming will work. As for the ear speaker, yes it’s just 2 points
If you tore your flex in half, there’s still a way to retain Face ID. Email me for a quote
Yo bro, So my ear speaker itself is working (iphone xs), but I wanted to replace my screen, so i did that but by accident I tore the cable end from the earspeaker, can't I just solder these 2 together?
It would be easier to de-solder the proximity sensor and solder it onto a new flex, than fixing the torn flex
text or email me for a mail in quote
how would you be able to keep face id if you dont want to or know how to solder. would buying a new screen assembly with the ear speaker built in keep that function
make sure your speaker mesh isnt dirty or clogged up before moving onto the next steps: mail me the part and ill do it, or go to apple and pay 330 for a screen replacement. if you replace the flex you need a way to pair that flex to the new board, the only downside being apple is the only place that can pair a new flex to your board. and they will only do that when you pay them 330 for a screen replacement. there arent any self service options available for the 11 series (at least as of writing this comment
is the face ID functionality in the flex cable or the speaker assembly itself?
It’s in the flex cable
Thank you bro
Here to serve. Thank you for watching and thank you for commenting.
is the flex resistant to heat ?
Depends on how hot. But overall I’d say yes
if the speaker/flex cable assembly has already been replaced would uninstalling and soldering the new speaker onto the old cable solve the face id issue?
as far as i know there was nothing wrong with the original cable. assembly was replaced solely due to speaker issues. found out after replacement that these parts were vital to face id function.
Do you still have that flex somewhere
@@repaironwheels yes i kept it bc i found out about the compatibility issue immediately after the replacement.
@sontaiwatson8998 as long as it’s not ripped or torn or damaged I can solder a new speaker on it you mail it in. 58 return shipping included
@@repaironwheels so that would remove the “face id unavailable” error?
@sontaiwatson8998 Face ID is paired to the flex. If you have an ear speaker issue and you swapped the flex you’d have a functional speaker but no Face ID. The solution is to solder a new speaker onto the original flex
do I need to order the ear piece original from apple to have the face id functionality, lost original flex cable
apple doesnt sell just an ear speaker flex, you would have to order a screen assembly which comes with the ear speaker flex to retain face id
I followed your steps and it's still not working? I know it is connected because the speaker still makes sound.
What doesn’t work. Face ID or ear speaker
just did exactly as you showed with an 11 pro due to error 4013, still not working for some reason, keeps booting to the restore screen but fails to restore, any idea why?
Try disconnecting the ear speaker flex and try again
Can I use a heat gun
You need a soldering iron
How did you seal the phone together
@@repaironwheels what for
If the majority of the original seal is in place I leave it as opposed to replacing with an aftermarket seal, the reason being is aftermarket seals are terrible
I just noticed this issue when replacing my 11 Pro screen. The replacement seals do a lousy job holding the screen down, the top left hand corner keeps popping up slightly, no matter what I try to remedy it (heat, clamping, ect.) Is there anywhere you know of that sells quality seals?
I have 11 pro max that is boot looping after I fix the back glass , I used laser then some heat to remove remaining glass . It stops looping when I disconnect the ear speaker , is this the method I need to use if i buy a new ear speaker with flex ? Is it my flex that’s damaged from heat or the speaker module itself ?
More than likely the flex is damaged. So Face ID is gone
Did you disassemble the device at all
How long would you say this takes
Shouldn’t take more than 30 min from Pentalobe out to Pentalobe in
If am changing my i phone 11 screen do i have to soder the original speaker to the new screen or i could just take the new speaker the entire thing and put the original speaker in the new screen without sodering
Swap over the entire speaker flex assembly, no soldering needed for a screen swap
What I would like to if it's the original speaker should be soder to the screen replacement flex cable
i dont understand the last message, for a simple screen replacement all you need to do is heat up the screen around the ear speaker and transplant the ear speaker flex assembly from one screen to the other. no soldering needed. the only time when soldering is needed is if just the ear speaker itself is damaged or non functional
Ok thanks that's wat I wanted to know
So I have no chance recovering my face ID cause my flex cable was cut in half😢
Practically speaking yes. There are shops that offer Microsoldering that can run jumpers to reconnect the 2 ends. But for what they would charge you are better off just selling your phon as is and buying another phone that has functional Face ID
So apparently there’s a way to transfer the ambient light sensor and flood illumination to another flex and retain Face ID. So you still have that torn flex
