If you are learning brasilian Portuguese , you are learning the wrongly way to learn this language , because the brasilians didn't conjugate the verbs in the right way.
Par ex. Tamo junto, should be estamos juntos.
The expression caraca , its also wrong We say caraças.
The brasilians never use the plural o the verbs.
The brasilian Portuguese isn't available in other countries where Portuguese is spoken.
Portuguese original , other way nobody understand you outside Brazil.

ótimo português, mas aqui no Brasil não é comum usarmos "nunca ainda" normalmente nos usamos apenas o nunca para nos referir a algo que não fizemos antes, por exemplo "eu NUNCA fui para os Estados Unidos" ou "eu nunca quebrei meu pé". espero ter ajudado !

This video has been the most helpful I’ve seen so far with good resources to learn Portuguese! I am marrying a Brazilian boy in August and his whole side of the family speaks primarily Portuguese. I am trying my best to learn as much as I can so I can communicate with them! I would love it if you would post more videos for English speakers trying to learn Portuguese! Go for it, dude! Portuguese is awesome but also quite difficult and tricky, be patient and persistent.

The process of learning a new language is truly amazing! I remember when you put out this video, I was an intermedian student and couldn't understand very much of what you were saying, but now it's amazing that I can get 100% of what you said in this video. Well... that brings me to the conclusion that it was worth every second dedicated to learn this amazing language. I love the English language.
Hi Gavin, I'm from São Paulo! I've taught myself English over about 3 years (1997 - 2000). And I can relate to your methods of learning. You are sooooo right. Forget the diccionary and have fun reading. I found a book I simply loved soooo much I read it 20 times or so lol or kkkk (It was called "Love comes Softly" from Janete Oke). Also keeping motivated and listening is so important. I starded watching Kids TV like Barney... LOL KKK. It was awesome. Maybe "Castelo Ra Tin Bum" Could be a good tool for learning portuguese...
After that I went to the university and studied linguistics, portuguese and german. English was an important tool in learning another language in general and German in particular... (I'm not sure this is a valid sentence in English...) Now I'm chalenging myself to learn Hebrew and Japanese... Having fun! KKK

Olá!! Great video! I just started my journey into learning Brazilian Portuguese and I got my Pimsler all set up, my music apps set into brazilian music and best of all, got a tutor in Verbling. Thankfully, I have some Brazilian friends locally and hopefully I´ll get someone to practice soon. I´m really excited about learning a new language. Fantastic video! This is actually my 6th and final time in Brazil (as I’ve moved here now - to São Paulo) and I’ve been using Duolingo/Rosetta Stone but I really felt like something was missing. I’ll definitely check out those other apps and try watching more without subtitles!

I’ve been using my Spanish to help with trying to learn Brazilian Portuguese. Somewhat helps understanding some basic stuff even if some words are different
I think it really helps. I met a conversation partner in this video comment session last year. We've been talking and 50% of the time I speak portuguese and my friend can understand almost everything. But you should be aware of what we call "false friends", some words might be the same, but with different meanings... 😧

Brazilian Portuguese is like French soft and musical, full of entonation, and Brazilian Portuguese keep accent that is called 1600's accent, that was lost in europe and another Portuguese colonies, is soft, open and syllabic.

Great Video Gavin! I love the most when you say about cooking. Doing practical activities is the best way to learn. I had a cooking lesson with my american student, he loved it. Learned to cook brigadeiro and strogonoff and learned a bunch of vocab for kitchen and cooking lmao.

Hi!!! When I was a child my mom said to me that that learn english was too important but I didn't believe and didn't study very well. Now, I'm 25 and I'm in love with this language. Every day I study a little bit more and today specifically I desided to watched your video talking about Brazil, just to try my english "listening". Honestly was a very good surprise! Listening you talking good things about my country bring to me nice feelings. At the moment we are at quarentine and we are living a difficult moment over here. There's shine in your eyes when you speak about Brazilian guys, and brazialian cultura. Maybe it was the felling that brazilians needs to feel again. For you, I give my thank you!
