I'm definitely going to be reading Parable of the Sower next year. I'm saying it here so I'll follow through. Lol. I have North and South too, so maybe I should follow along with you! But what I will say is that I read Kindred as a graphic novel first and then read the book so that I would be less intimidated and that worked well for me. I'm hoping to try the same process with Parable of the Sower. I'm not sure why I find her books so intimidating because actually reading Kindred was totally fine!
I didn’t know there was a Kindred graphic novel. I’ve read the Parable of the Sower graphic novel and I thought it was very well done. I’m definitely intimidated by how heavy her books are. I adore North and South! I hope you read it too because it’s just so good!
Count me in for your Year of Butler and Gaskell! I’ve always been curious about Octavia Butler but haven’t quite gotten into sci-fi enough to give her books a try yet. As for Gaskell, my knowledge is pretty much at Wikipedia level.
Yay! I made a bookclub in Fable. Here’s the link: fable.co/club/a-year-of-butler-gaskell-with-em-jae-530819123860?invite=91cc1ea3-fd03-41a4-9d7f-ba7ff2603d44&referralID=aFxVJ95VbF
