    Going on close to a decade with my original bass driver DI. What a monster of a tool that thing is! I have RPM rack as well, love that!!! I take the RPM into the studio a lot, but I also like it in the FX loop on my 90s Trace rig, it’s a beast! - also, YY Not rules!

    I played a concert and I didn't have a bass amp. I connected my Sansamp bass driver DI V2 with an XLR cable directly into the mixer and the venue's sound system. The sound was simply fantastic. I have been using this fantastic pedal for more than 10 years and it is the top in terms of quality and reliability. Well done!

    I'm still using my original Sansamp Bass Driver from around 1998. It has seen countless live shows with me over the years and saved the day more than once when I had an amp fry on stage. (I even quickly handed it to a guy from an opening band once when his amp fried. He was back up and running and the show saved in less than 2 minutes.)

    I've had a para driver since 2011ish - it's never failed me. I find it to be a whole lot more useful than the bass driver cause it has a mid control, and I've ended up putting it in front of a whole heap of things - vocals, synth, field recordings, samples, you name it. You can do everything with it, and you can get a whole heap of things sitting in their own midrange frequency really easily. Been looking for a video like this to understand the other two, much appreciated!

    Sansamp BDDI from mid 90’s is still on my board today! Easily the best piece of gear I’ve ever bought and I’ve had it longer than any bass that I own.

    I use a V1 in the effects loop. My Hartke amp has plenty of character and tone shaping in the front end, with tube and SS input drive along with 10 band EQ and lo-hi pass filters. But what all the great old tube amps did was to drive the power amp section too! So I have the SansAmp at the end of my effects chain, right into the Return. It puts just a hint of edge on the power amp.

      I used to use the VT with my Hartke LH500 head and it sounded really nice with a clean tone but I wanted some grit but that VT pedal had a messed up gain knob so I got rid of it. The LH head is a good pedal platform because the on board eq is so basic you get all the character from the pedal, and if you have a fresh 12ax7 in the head it adds a nice tinge of tube warmth

    I’ve used a Sansamp as my main sound for almost twenty years and currently use the Para Driver. I think a lot of bassist think if something isn’t only for bass then it isn’t any good but that one does everything the Bass DI does plus it has the adjustable mids.

    I’m with you on the Para Driver. But Bass Driver is great too. I also have the rack RBI that I bought years ago which I’ve always loved.
    I used to explain to my bass player friends, the difference before/minus Sansamp is like listening under water compared to when one’s plumbed in. It’s very difficult to unhear it.

    I did a studio A/B test with the Bass Driver v2 and Para Driver v2 I was able to dial in a pretty similar bass DI sound that I like for both. The settings were surprisingly different to get close to the same sound so obviously the EQ parameters are fairly different between the two units. I definitely prefer the sweepable Mid Shift of the Para, but the 40/80 Bass Shift of the Bass Driver (I play a 5-string). I like the simplicity and utility of both and see why they've been so popular for so long. Would be great to have a Bass Driver with sweepable mids or a Para Driver with the 40/80 button instead of the Air button.

    For me the best sansamp for bass is the psa 2 .
    Pros:
    - its digital programmable
    - store sounds
    - you can make your own custom tone.
    - its almost like you have any tech 21 pedal
    Cons
    - no xlr out
    - you need to buy an extra pedal if you want to blend your clean sound

    How much difference is there between the all flat characterstics of bass driver and para driver except the cab sim and presence in the bass driver? How different are the circuits and is there drive sound different since one is specifically for bass? Lots of questions there but an explanation would help a lot, I am very curious after this demo.

    • @Tech21nyc
      @Tech21nyc  Год назад +1

      Both units are flat response when in bypass mode and function like most DI's. When engaged and the Blend is off and the tone controls are at their null points they are also flat response or can be used as transparent DI's with tone shaping if desired. When the Blend control is turned up, the SansAmp circuit is mixed with the un-effected signal or it can be set for 100% amp emulation. There is some overlap of sounds between the units but both units have their own sonic signature. It's something you need to try with your rig to make the best decision. The Bass Driver is a great choice for players that want that specific tone and the Para Driver has more midrange control and is capable of more overdrive (if desired) but does not have the "sizzle" that the presence control of the Bass Driver has.

    • @Tech21nyc
      @Tech21nyc  8 месяцев назад

      In most bass guitar applications, the bass guitar is DI'd which was why the Bass Driver DI was originally developed and why it has been such a popular product for us the last 30 years. To remove the DI feature would not make sense from a manufacturing level.
      Most bass players run effects in front of their bass amp or DI. If you want to place effects after the Bass Driver DI etc, an inexpensive direct box can easily be utilized. If you need further help please contact our support department. info@tech21nyc.com

    I prefer the SVT sound of the Sansamp BDDI, because he didn't bother giving a demo of that sound on the VT for comparison; which he claimed to be the one if "ampeg is your thing".... SO... Tech21? How about it? Why should I buy the VT over your own BDDI.... or even Ampeg's new "Ampeg SVT-CL in a pedal box" SGT-DI??

    • @Tech21nyc
      @Tech21nyc  8 месяцев назад +1

      The focus of this video was intended to cover the differences, rather than being a shoot-out. Most of our bass gear is capable of achieving an SVT-style sound. As noted in the description, we have a total of 9 pedals and 2 rackmounts designed primarily for bass, plus 4 that are for both guitar and bass. That's a bit too much ground to cover in one video. Of the 3 most popular SansAmps, since we get asked this a lot, we wanted to help you decide which feature set and variety of tones are best for you. Why choose our gear? The comments may shed some light. And we're celebrating the 30th anniversary of the SansAmp Bass Driver DI this year, so we must be doing something right. 😃
