Atif has been looking so dominant lately and Ulsan just runs right through him, 5-0. Crazy stuff.
Love how Tekken 8 has made the tournament scene more unpredictable/competitive now with less dominance from individual players like Knee and Arslan back in Tekken 7 and Tag 2 with JDCR.

    • @angel2x813

The meta of overwhelming plus frames isn’t beneficial to tekken for a defensive game in its history but with this installment he’s overwhelming bc of the high octane offense and his archetype is just suited for this game so if it’s money on the line ofc people are gonna pick drag bc he’s easy and has access to a lot of plus frames , but if you gut that we won’t ever see him again, id say just make his lows very mediocre to compensate for his overwhelming mids so he can still be a viable character

  • @pheonix2099

The fact that we have seen a lot of Dragunov mirrors in high level events should make Namco realize that he needs to be adjusted. I don't want him killed but please tone him down so we don't see the mirror as much.

@@felixstep2066 in your case whether the character is good or not shouldn't worry you. If you legit find him cool then play him. I'm more talking about the people who are only playing him because they know Drag is top tier. Don't let the opinions dissuade you from playing a character you legit like. I just don't want good characters gutted and think they can find a way to adjust him to be good and fair.

I agree! Plus, tier lists do not matter unless you're gunning for World champion. If you're just playing ranked, literally any character can reach god of destruction rank. It's up to the player how much do they wanna learn Tekken to reach that point. @@pheonix2099

The reason why Ulsan's jabs, df1's, and whiff punish attempts weren't blocked enough, was because Atif was spamming big moves and kept getting clipped. Atif was committing too much to high value moves and Ulsan kept shutting him down using smaller, simpler tools, and pulled out bigger moves unpredictably to throw Atif off.
Atif was also spamming d2's out of desperation but Ulsan kept ignoring that bait and mostly committed to countering Atif's mid's and high's.
Ulsan had great reads on Atif's strings and duck/sidestep punished so many times during the set.
He was outsmarted and couldn't adapt before the set was over.

100% psychological battle. Ulsan somehow came over his nervousness, whereas Atif let it get the better of him. Skillwise they're both pretty even.

If purses are this big, you'll see a resurgence of Tekken in Korea. No point in playing it's hard to survive playing for $100-$20,000 earnings here with such low pay in fighting games.. kids will play league of legend. right now these guys like Knee, JDCR, LowHigh and older gamers are forced to continue to play because they wont be able to find job as only former gamer..
