EN: Swan-neck lyre, improvisation.
This lyre is an interpretation of the iconography of the The sarcophagus of Aghia Triada
(Heraklion Archaeological Museum) - We know nothing about the music of the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations but
the music was probably associated with religious rites.
Swan-shaped lyres are present in the world of Greek and Egyptian antiquity.
For more details see Leopold Vorreiter's publication about these lyres: www.jstor.org/stable/841575 - Видеоклипы
Lyre (or phorminx) made by Francesco Landucci (check out his amazing work ;) ) Cheers

Maybe we’ll finally discover the Minoan “Rosetta Stone” and discover several songs written down!
Would be nice. Even to have any kind of mention of music 🥲
Yes, I completely agree.
Amazing! This just showed in my recommendation. You’re doing amazing!
Incredible. What a beautiful instrument. The way you play is hypnotic.
Thank you 🦢 🦆
Yes ... his is truly an ancient sound and quite authentic in my view.
Perfect
Wonderful!
Cheers!
I love this!
Such a beautiful instrument, you played it wonderfully!
Woooow, amazing performance! I felt like... I was taken to the old Alexandria two thousand years ago! Congratulations!
Bravo!!
Bravo!
Beautiful. My humble recommendation: put together longer chunks of stuff like this and your channel could explode. I would love, love to have stuff like this on repeat, for work, dining. Or for forbidden initiation into Eleusinian mysteries!!!
Hello, thank you !
I plan on doing more stuff next year, I am just waiting for my new instruments and doing more research haha. Eventually it will come.
Cheers ! 🎵 🎶 (Edit: if you want a little more Minoan lyre I have an album called palatial nights, you might find it in streaming platforms)
🙌
There is a real authenticity about your playing in your modal tuning ... may well resemble something quite ancient. I have wondered often about what the Minoans heard. I think you have it. ... Bravo! Definitely will subscribing! ... ... Καλό αγόρι! Σίγουρα θα εγγραφείτε!
Thank you so much. Yes I experiment a lot with a lot of different tunings :) Cheers
sweet job
Merci
Nice Claudio!
ευχαριστώ !!
Wow, great! I wish prosperity to your channel
Merci Olga 🙏
I agree. Something down deep tells you when it's right. iluvit!
🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩
You should play along with the aulos.
It gaves me goosebumps 🤣🥰 may God Apollo and Aphrodite always bless you 🙌🏻💫
Tell me about it!
Did you make your lyre yourself? It's very lovely!
Hello! Thanks, the lyre was made by the luthier Francesco Landucci ;)
Hey! What scale or intervals are these?
Hello. I think I was using a Turkish mode. Based on the modern Phrygian with a small modification. Something like E F G# A B C D should do the trick 😎
@@claudioquadros-menestrel3513 Thank you so much!!
Very nice. The seikolos epitaph melody at the begining sounds like it's being played using an other tuning system, right ?
Yes. The very first notes of the epitaph are played. But the epitaph melody is indeed in another mode
@@claudioquadros-menestrel3513 ok may i ask what mode you are using ?
@@EchoesOfTheDeep if I remember correctly it was a Turkish mode. Something like E F G# A B C D
@@claudioquadros-menestrel3513 Ok i see. i learned this mode as phrygian dominant, i think.
@@EchoesOfTheDeep yes the same I think :) cheers
Donde compraste esa arpa amigo!!
Olá! Luthier: Francesco Landucci.
@@claudioquadros-menestrel3513 Muchas gracias!!😄
How did you learn play this harp? This tecnique sorry my english
Hello ! It's just improvisation and exploration of the instrument. I try to use as many different techniques as possible. I like watching ancient iconographies but also modern day ethnic lyre players (mostly from modern Africa where lyre traditions seem to be well preserved.)
So I did not really "learn" this technique, it's more like discovering or rediscovering different techniques ;)
Cheers
@@claudioquadros-menestrel3513 thank you so much i really enjoyed you playing
@@mariabarda1820 Obrigado ;)
I feel the same way in my playing and I think we have a family of kindred spirits out there creating music from the heart. Truly amazed at how available the lyre is to improvisation. @@claudioquadros-menestrel3513
