If they're going to colour it for Russia then may as well colour it for Ukraine. They have to be consistent.

The capturing of territory is likely to have something to negotiate over when the possible peace talks happen if Trump wins the elections. The Kursk offensive is great for the western news but in reality they haven't achieved anything, the offensive has slowed to a crawl and that's about the limit to what Ukraine can achieve. In recent months we've seen Ukrainian drones that could carry explosives, used instead for delivering urgent supplies to defenders. Water bottles, rations, cigarettes, ammo. Of course this is horribly inefficient on the scale of attrition warfare, but one Russian drone can take out a supply truck. Russia stormed into Ukraine and they coloured the map for Russia nearly all the way to Kiev. Russia had never 'captured' that territory, they were simply passing through, and Ukraine never captured it back in some awesome counter offensive, the Russians just weren't there anymore. If they're going to colour it for Russia then may as well colour it for Ukraine. They have to be consistent.

It’s not going to change anything in the east and the south, where the manpower and equipment could have been put to better use pushing back against Russian advances. What's with the focus on villages? It’s engaging opposing forces that matter. Is Ukraine measuring their success by the number of villages they drive thru? Russians seem to be counting bodies rather than kilometers.
You don't go hand to hand with someone twice your weightclass. You dance around them until they tire out. The capturing of territory is likely to have something to negotiate over when the possible peace talks happen if Trump wins the elections. The fact that Ukraine managed to do this sort of shatters the proRU narrative that Ukraine is loosing hard. It shows that its just what RU needs to say to keep their own soldiers motivated.

They're contained in a pocket and if they can't expand out of that then they're gonna get hit badly. Any general of worth would've told you Kursk is a bad idea. Russia is not going to negotiate over its own territory. The Kursk offensive is great for the western news but in reality they haven't achieved anything, the offensive has slowed to a crawl and that's about the limit to what Ukraine can achieve. It will be an expensive mistake for Ukraine - look at Himars, its getting dunked right now. Ukraine is forced to move it's precious assets closer to Russia or even in Russia making them ripe for destruction.

In recent months we've seen Ukrainian drones that could carry explosives, used instead for delivering urgent supplies to defenders. Water bottles, rations, cigarettes, ammo. Of course this is horribly inefficient on the scale of attrition warfare, but one Russian drone can take out a supply truck.
