jung hwan's personality was depicted to be cold but he really has the warmest heart :( he really tries his best to make his parents happy. I think he has a hard time expressing his love for people sometimes thus, his hesitations at times.
I really appreciate Dongryong as well, he's very observant with his surroundings. He was also the one who advised Jung Hwan about what would make his mom happy again when she felt they don't need her anymore. Ang JH for me is the best amongst their friend group, very sensitive and thoughtful to his family and friends even though he's not expressive with words.

Junghwan is seriously my favorite and softest character to be honest. T _ T He may not be expressive but he does care about his family and friends. When his dad was sad, he went with his jokes just to make him feel better, when his mom was feeling down as well because she thought that the boys didn't need her, he did some things in order to make his mom feel that they do need her, and even though his brother was a bit weird, he still loves him very much. He took care of Deoksun, even punched a guy because he was bullying one of his friends. Junghwan's the best 💖💖💖💖
I like how Deok Sun always goes along with Mr Kim's greeting with no hesitation and how happy Mr Kim suddenly became when he thought it was Deok Sun that walked in the door at the end.
I weep like a broken tap every time I see this drama....and I have seen it like 8 times already! It's so....relatable. And as someone who is stuck in the past and is a sucker for nostalgia...this show is my kryptonite!
This drama is just so great, i always think that “based on reality” dramas are better than fictional (fantasy) dramas. This drama touched my heart more every single minute i spent my time watching it. And what makes it greater is how they mentioned every important things that happened in 1988-1994. Politic, economic, law, technology, movies, musics, even they mentioned some of greatest entertainers such as JYP, Lee Soo Man, yoo jae suk, etc. it also shows us how important family and friendship are. it’s written so well, it’s acceptable to say *this drama is one of the greatest korean drama ever* 🚨🚨 *SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* 🚨 🚨 People keep complaining about how Deok Sun didn’t end up with Jung Hwan, when it’s not even the whole point of the drama. Instead of complaining about who ends up with whom, we should be appreciating the writers and directors for making such an awesome series. And how it manages to touch us and made us cry every single episodes.
If you like watching dramas like reply series then you should watch prison playbook and hospital playlist. I heard those dramas are also directed by the same director as the reply series. And also you might see familiar faces from reply series to those dramas.
Agree, this is a great drama, and i think its fair why Deok Sun not ended with Jung Hwan, its briefly said that JH always in doubt, and his doubt make him late a minute than Taek to reach DS. Finally JH realize that Taek has a bigger eager to have DS as girl friend than himself. I think director had made a good ending
It HAD to be Taek. For Deok Sun, it had always been him. She just hadn't realised it cos of her friends misguiding her to various other boys. It had to be Taek.
Such a simple scene....but I remember how hard I cried when the dad smiles after the handshake. This whole show was so simple...yet it shook me to my core. Still does, after all these years :)
I remembered, the first scene of sung sajang kim sajang and followed by goat's voice made me illfeel of this drama (at first) hahaha .... but after watched ep 2, i cant help it but started to fall in love... 🥰 and this scene is a funny scene for me now😂
Dong Ryul is the wackiest ...boisterous, seemingly not serious in everything he does..but in giving sound and effective advises to his friends, he is the best in this... I love his character.
