You know, I see your point and I've been trying to interpret his responses through that perspective.. but I keep asking myself: why did he go, then? He could have stayed home if he's so fed up with Hollywood. Once he was there, it didn't take much to just answer the questions in a courteous manner... Or, if he just didn't feel like fluffy, shallow chitchat, he could have skipped the interview. 🤷

    • @VamanosLetsgo

No. This interview doesn't determine narcissism or not. There isn't enough info here.
If a narcissist requires positive fuel, they will likely go along with these shallow queries and talk about their clothes, their films, etc.
But if a narcissist requires negative fuel (to relieve boredom, frustration, etc.), they could be dismissive, doing more or less of what Hugh Grant did.
Hugh Grant "is" dismissing what ought to be his responses here. He knows the game. He is "choosing" not to go along.
What we don't know (based on this interview alone) is "why" he is dismissing Ashley Graham's queries.

I have just turned 71 and have lived in Canada since I was seven. I remember watching the Oscars on TV down through the decades. At the same time, decades ago, we were all thrilled, and in great anticipation of the show. If I am remembering correctly, I’m not sure there was a red carpet that was filmed before the show began. And this thing of asking celebritieswhat they are wearing seems to have only begun a number of years ago. Since I am the age that I am, I do remember vaguely that there was a book referred to as a classic or a masterpiece that was entitled vanity fair. It would’ve been the kind of book that we would’ve been forced to study or at least heard about while in university. so I caught the reference to what I thought was possibly the book, but did not know the earlier reference to Pilgrim’s Progress. I now hate the red carpet questions, and since I no longer know many of the actors, I stopped watching. I used to love the red carpet a few years ago, simply to look at the fashions and hair styles and who was with whom. For the last couple of years, I haven’t even watched that and I never watch the Oscars. Someone also commented on TV that a lot of the anticipation has gone out of the Oscars since for several years, the press has listed who they think are going to win, and it has taken the absolute breathtaking anticipation of who WOULD win out of the ceremony.
I think the female interviewer was simply doing what they all do with perhaps a little less research done. I thought she handled it well, and I thought Hugh Grant was fine.
