  • Almost done, but you get the idea! Big thanks to ZooMed for making this possible! And before I hear it in the comments: this chinese crocodile lizard (shinisaurus crocodilurus) a captive bred individual, that descended from animals legally imported at a time when it was permited. Let me know what plants/fish need to be added before we throw the mini dino in!

Looks really good, but: If it‘s a paludarium, won‘t that wood rot and mold?

Do you treat your wood for any mites or parasites or bugs before you use them since you get them yourself? Owning fish I’ve come to treat almost everything I find for tannins they may secrete into the water that could cause color change or raise the ph levels and change it out of the range my certain fish are comfortable living in I’ve had a few snakes and bearded dragons that caught mites in the past for the most part I think they had them when I purchased them or got them bc a few came from rough care in dirty cages but I always worried they might be able to catch them from the material I picked up from outside. Wondering what your routine is with your natural picked wood and rocks

I was with you until you started using closed cell foam and silicone to build your enclosure.
Foam and silicone makes it easy, but it doesn't make it good. You will suffer eater ingress into your foam and degradation follows after.

      Drylock extreme

Crabmansteve, what would you suggest to combat this? (The drylock suggestion sounds good)
