      @@crusheruk3347 i'm not a native speaker, so not having good voice modulation + poor voice equalization (too much bass 150 ~ 400hz boost) makes him very hard to listen. that's my opinion as a video editor

    You should consider either lowering the game volume, or muting it completely with some quiet background music playing, it'll make your voice a lot more legible :)

    you know actually you have a very intelligent way of thinking about this, everyone is complaining about how healing has to go down and even I have been one of them as it can be insane, but actually just decreasing the healing numbers just meant people will die faster and yes, that sounds like a good thing at first but once you really think about it, I kind of just means if your support then you’re going to have to focus on healing way more than currently so if all of this is true, then this is kind of nursing healing, but in a better way, as the passive would only activate if you’re not doing damage or taking damage, so the only time that would activate is when you’re behind cover, behind a shield or combat is already done plus increasing some of the damage of certain characters and the health of all characters helps this as well

    Role passives still seem to cause more balance issues than solve imo. If the DPS passive is going to reduce healing, does that basically imply that Hog, Doom, Mauga, etc. are all permanently receiving nerfed healing since they don't block/matrix damage like some other tanks? Isn't Sigma going to have an unreasonably high benefit from that? Aren't poke comps going to benefit disproportionately from the passive healing? Not taking damage for 5 seconds on Sigma is infinitely easier than on any other tank, especially given his playstyle and meta comps. You'd just hold a corner and cycle CDs, at worst pop behind the corner for a second to make the 5 second window to self-heal.
    That's not even mentioning the disproportionate changes for some of the weaker heroes. Genji seems absolutely gutted, he was already a nano-blade bot; nano-blade not killing from dash + swing seems pretty damning.

    If this leaked patch is real, then we'll likely see one of the biggest shifts Overwatch has ever taken. It won't be without bumps in the road, no patch this big will ever avoid hiccups or drawbacks. However, this would address some of the most common complaints about current Overwatch and could drastically improve the health of the game and the ease of its balance in the long term. None of these changes will come lightly, but I'm hopeful for the future of the game so many are passionate about. I'm excited to see how it shakes up balance.

      This will change nothing in the long run imo. Because they are going to buff damage eventually again. Then they will buff healing because of the damage. Then the HP again because everything dies instantly or never dies again. And the cycle will continue. Because they won't ever take a step back and revert or nerf stupid changes.

      @@elpapisaint Yes, this was the paradigm of the weird asystemic balancing overwatch has had going on for years. But you see the reason that this sort of cycle happens is because the balancing team was trying to correct things by "buffing" or "nerfing" without actually having a goal. They couldn't have a goal other than "this is overperforming" or "underperforming" or "annoying" because they had no direction to how the environment of the game should actually look like.
      And as you can see by most communication the devs have been doing over these last patches and especially with this whole thing, they are indeed planning on making systemic changes to the game. Changes that address the game environment and where things fit and what things do in that environment. This is clearly unprecedented and is putting the balance team into new territory, they haven't been here and no one knows what they are gonna decide to do with all this newfound freedom they have under new leadership and most of all
      It just looks like they are learning.
      Let them cook.

    DPS passive to reduce healing and out of combat healing mechanics. My mind just goes to Paladins.

      ​@@acorn1265 Neither, this game has a big staggrng problem. Idk why everyone's seeing their solution to this as copying another game. This game doesn't change enough as is year-to-year. It can never change for the better if we keep speculating like this on changes we have no idea will be beneficial or not. Season 9 isn't here yet.
      This passive seems mostly aimed at helping people fall back, especially if healthpacks are out of the way. On many maps the healthpacks are out of the way from getting back to your team. They're designed to be within off angles which slow down you getting to your team.

    If you ask a tank what they find irratating, I'm sure they will give you a long list of things.
    1. There is only 1 tank and the team wants ALOT out of that 1 player, and sometimes just different things that are conflicting.
    2. Tanks can't punish supports that are out of position like they could in OW 1.
    3. Some tank ults don't feel like ultimates in the same way support ults or dps ults do. (some used to)
    4. Tanks are the automatic punching bag when a team isn't coordinated and get rolled. (gg tank diff)

    great video! I've talked to some people shaped walls in the past about the survivability problems and anti-systemic balancing overwatch has going on, and you put it quite well. Now that the devs are actually testing stuff and can think about big sweeping changes it's time to finally address it.
    I just hope
    I hope so much that the devs actually go through with the statement on supports not just being healers and shift their focus into interesting utility and interactions instead of just making them 3rd and 4th dps, most of the current designs have no _enabling_ abilities to shift into...
    Also it's very funny that they basically reached "cauterize from paladins" as a solution. There's just so much they'd have to change to make healing characters make sense the way they are right now without just running into players heal pumping during fights that it really just is the best solution they have for now.

    my only concern is that some dive heroes, specifically Genji, Tracer, and Ball, will struggle with these new ttk changes and received very little compensation buffs for their damage in the leaked notes. I would love to see some minor tweaks for those 3 before the patch goes live.

    I think you make good points but what frustrates me is that there were much easier ways to fix the problems in the game but much like moving ow1 6v6 to ow2 5v5 the dev team would rather make NUCLEAR changes to the game than just fix the obvious issues with the game. Often times the issues are literally made worse by their changes like sojourn having rail even more often and orisa having zero falloff damage. The issues wouldnt be present if the devs focused on the things the community actually talks about like removing the immortality from suzu. This is going to have benefits sure, but just like 5v5 it isnt going to just fix everything and for a lot of things its going to make them a lot worse

      Only if they address the issues of 6v6 that existed back then. Baptiste had immortality field in 6v6 and that was behind two shields. They tested removing it and putting damage reduction instead, it was reverted after being underwhelming. Sojourn technically has slower rail build up than launch. Orisa had no fall off back in 6v6 since it was a projectile, granted the gun was a bit different. I don't think they'll remove invulnerability from the abilities. Changing player numbers isn't an automatic fix.

      If the devs nerfed everything the community complains about, the game would have been unplayable trash well before 5v5. Sojourn’s rail buff was aimed at increasing her consistency in lower ranks, which worked, and didn’t really help her at all higher up. Orisa had the only projectile in the entire game with falloff, and after three months of being in the bottom half of winrates at all ranks, they removed it. When Orisa is bad in Bronze, it’s time for buffs.

      Agreed. Honestly 5v5 and role passives messed up so much that we’re still scrambling to fix the problems and new ones keep coming up. Lower TTK was the biggest issue I had with OW2 and it’ll at least be interesting to see how next season plays out. I’ve only been able to stomach 3 seasons since OW2 released with the others being so bad I uninstall till next season

      Removing invulnrability from Suzu kills the ability
      If you truly want to balance suzu you'll have to remove every bullshit ability in the game: Anti, Immortality field, Rez, Lifeweaver's pull, etc

    Good video, it’ll be interesting to see how these changes might affect the game. Although it does seem like skill expression and hero identity will be taking a back seat :/
    To me it seems like the game is still suffering from diminishing it from a 6v6 to 5v5 with just a few patches. The game needs more updates. I’m excited to see but I doubt it’ll help the fundamental problems with the tank role

    I for the most part agree and I like the categorization philosophy for actionable prioritization. What I saw in the patch leak was a health buff across the board and damage too(anti heal aswell) but the damage buffs were proportionately lower then the net health gain. I trust the devs because in their dev values log, at least they demonstrated that they know the difference between relying on your team to win, and having an individual character be strong enough to enable your team thus carry. and in line with that they know that they want OW2 to be a team FOCUSED game.
    So IMO what this patch does is stabilize TTK for TEAM based interactions. In other words your tank like doomfist won't get shredded in 2 seconds by 5 other people just cuz he had his E on CD and you happen to be healing another teammate.
    So you should have better ability to give your teammates a hand if they make a mistake instead of things just falling apart in 2 seconds and nobody ends up knowing why because it was all so quick. Because i've noticed that so many people will blame another roll like Tank for being useless not realising that their tank was suffering and it's not cuz of healing... but because the dps wasn't doing enough damage AND making healers work overtime to keep their useless ass alive. and that just gets dumber when that same healer blames the Tank not seeing that the dps was just constantly not watching their cover.
    So with these changes, the proportionate time for individual duels or character impact should feel the same but the team oriented dynamic should feel a bit more..... present? which then would make sense when it comes to the dps antiheal passive and regen overall, supports will be valued for the other things they bring to the table and people will have to pay more attention to their position to cover instead of just eating damage and this should feel a bit more like a good fps MOBA without the toxicity generating element in team pvp of having to RELY on your teammates to get meaningful value with your character.

    The sound issue isn't just about the volume of your voice vs the footage (though tweaking that will help.) It sounds like you could maybe optimise the way your mic recording is set up. Check things like the sample rate for recording, whether there's lots lf bsckground noise that's being filtered out, and that you arent trying to talk into the top of a side-address microphone.

    I main genji and the most annoying thing is that bap has a own heal movment a damage dealing gun and can put down a lamp that allows god to look over you its annoying when any charter has so many nets to lean on or have no nets

    the fact this channel or even video has blown up is the real crime. love these types of videos and i believe you executed this to a high degree.
    while there were some issues such as your voice matching or reaching below the gameplay sounds and at 4:52 shocked me. however, i was able to complete the video and overall enjoyed it alot. you sir have earned my sub.

    I like pretty much all of the changes in theory, but as we've seen from the past, that doesn't always translate well into how the game is actually played. We'll see what happens. Either way, Im excited that the dev team is finally experimenting with some big changes.

    Congrats in getting a video into the algo. Theres something so endeering about your voice as well. Theres no flahy intro, facecam. Straight to the point with a low production set-up and editing style. Honestly, would watch more. Keep it up with the good takes. A tip from a viewer, as much as I've praised the low production side, I reckon it would be good if you turn the game volume down, and actually put some low volume jazz music in the background. You're coalming voice, interesting takes, mixed with the unique ball gameplay is a good short-term formula for building a loyal following

    Coming from another similar game, Paladins. All they did was make it more similar to Paladins, the new dps passive is similar to the item cauterise. Im not too worried about the changes in that sense.

    You said the game feels like nothing dies or you just explode. The health changes may fix the exploding but there were no nerfs to sustain or immortality abilities so now with everyone having more health those abilities will be even HARDER to force making the speed of the game grind to a hault. They just fucked everyone thats not a support bc killing things will be even harder. Supports still get a passive thats 2x as good as everyone elses, more player agency bc they can heal and damage, plus the strongest abilities in the game (suzu, imo field, rez) which reward you for being reactive instead of proactive. Season 9 will be even worse than season 8 and thats what happens when you put Silver Moira players in charge of game balance.
    RIP Overwatch 😢

      It will not activate in combt just as the current support passive behaves. One single tick of incoming fire will stop it, resetting the timer. It also takes a good amount of (shot-free) seconds for the current support passive to even activate. Might be longer for other roles, might heal slower, might not even heal to full HP.
      Here's some ways I think it will work for tanks and dps:
      - Longer time until it activates
      - Slower HP gain
      - Only partial HP heal
      - Not activate/stop if taken dmg.
      Now consider the difference between tanks + dps, and supports. Tanks are frontline, and in certain comps the dps will be near the tank. They intake way more dmg than supports are supposed to. I genuinely can't see this new healing passive activate much in-combat.
      Even when it does, either supports will already be healing them, or they'll end up taking dmg again. It most certainly will not replace the need for supports, in or out of combat. It takes a bit of work off of the supports, and is a good change on paper. We only have to wait and see how they've balanced it. I expect many changes to it next season.

    I get the feeling its going to go through some growing pains, but ultimately a net positive. The devs are making people play the game. The days of the pocket mercy that won't blue beam are gone. I think OW will stop being a sexual market place of simps and whores are graciously welcomed.

    I think players should have "healing saturation". After they have received healing in a period of time, continuing to heal them as they take more damage will be less effective. Basically it means that if a player is getting focused and is both getting healed and damaged at the same rate, eventually the healing becomes "fully saturated" and that player can receive no more healing for a brief window.

    Good points. I just have one thing to point out for future videos, please lower the gameplay volume it's really hard to keep focus on what you're saying and not get distracted by the gameplay. As it currently is, both audio tracks are competing for the viewer's attention. Thanks! =)

    Also about resolts of new patch and how its going to change feel of different roles.
    Now its "tank just suffering" "dps can feel useless" and "supports are the most impactful role".
    With higher effective HP it is going to be crucial to elim supports first so their turn to suffer ^___^

      The DPS heal reduction might combat some of supports' strength in keeping people alive, without using mitigation abilities. It also means that anti nade might finally be getting a nerf since Ana will no longer be the only hero who can reduce the insane amount of healing from tanks like Roadhog or Mauga.

      Honestly, I hope a lot of this is true because some of these changes I really like and think are good because yeah, there are some benefits of nursing healing but there’s some big drawbacks No one seems to be thinking about. If you Nerf healing, then that means everyone dies super fast and if you don’t want everyone dying super fast then you have decrease the damage but then emote he says they’ll be too much HP so then you have to decrease that and I’m sure there are some downsides with all of those together, so making it where people can heal out of combat is good and making it where DPS actually have a good passive that makes it where we don’t need just one character to decrease healing is great lol

    I’m more in the camp that keep the standard health pool at 200 is best for balancing ease even if it creates a lot of work at the moment.
    It would take a lot of work but so many characters have so much going on that we need a global reset with the numbers.

    I do believe the patch is fake to an extent but ngl, I fuck with changing the HP on tanks and the DPS passive in it entirely for the purpose of making the roles more enjoyable

      The only problem is that then he becomes complete garbage. So they have to give MASSIVE compensating buffs. One idea I like is to have multiple arrows with two different slots, so the former sonar ability can rotate between utility options, like sonar, anti and hinder (these are just possible examples) and another rotating between storm, (scatter?? but remove bounce on storm), and something else, like freeze on headshot, slow on body, or burn, or poison cloud, etc.
      Then reduce his jump cooldown by 1.5 seconds, and allow him to hold arrows drawn while wall climbing again

      That would never work, idk how they can fix this one shot problem but that ain't it. Just get rid of him, or rework him or something. It is annoying but not impossible to play against a good Hanzo. It's only a problem for people that refuse to swap to counter him, which is constantly in my games at least. I do agree though he doesn't have as many weaknesses as Widow, which is the problem and why Widow having a one-shot is generally considered fine.

      Before ever thinking about severely nerfing a character like here, just consider first if they are counterable to some degree or not. Hanzo's one-shot isn't nearly as bad as say, Reaper's one-shot, or Orissa's jav (against a wall) + crit shots combo. Those are much harder to counter than Hanzo, and both have better mobility than him. Both take probably as much skill as Hanzo's one-shots too.

      @@aouyiu hanzo has to aim more than reaper with his arrows compared to half the screen with reaper (who pretty much never actually one shots someone, you need to be up at literal point blank and land every pellet for that to happen, and is very easy to counter by just keeping distance), while orisa just holds the trigger and is much more forgiving if you miss, making it easier. And you can counter her one shot by just taking cover when she javelins, which has a very easy to see animation and has a decently long travel time. It’s very rare that someone gets one shot by that, unless they are in the wide open AND have 0 help from their team. Hanzo one shots are by far the most common of these, it’s barely a comparison imo

      This is why I wish we had more info on the DPS passive. Basically all I got from the leak is that it gives incoming healing reduction to enemies who are damaged by DPS. It isn't clear by how much or for how long that effect takes place. Maybe it nerfs healing significantly with the bonus of encouraging focus fire more.
      At the very least, the passive could be adjusted down the line like they've done with the other passives including the Ult charge passive.

    Personally it bothers me tho that widow cant 1 shot anymore while hanzo can, while its a big part of her identity
    I get it a good widow on pc can be really strong, but thats not much the case on console, although i dont think we should punish some players for becoming good with a character

      wait i said this as a joke before i saw that u were asking for feedback. rlly well done video, very thoughtful breakdown of the leak, and theres a surprising amount of polish on the video given the timeframe.
      I love that you focus on the intent of the patch and how it fits into the state of the game, instead of pretending to know definitively if this will ruin or save overwatch. Feels opinionated, but level headed. The script felt good, very well structured.
      i do agree with what others are saying about muting the game volume, maybe there was some truth to my original comment lol.
      my other suggestions would be probably too much to ask given how little time you had to work on this, but I might like to see your takes on what other people have said so far, and do a little more to dissect the popular sentiment from the community and other popular creators regarding the patch.
      Also, more polish being put into the audio mixing might be nice. YourOverwatch/Freedo has a rlly similar format, his stuff might have good examples to compare things like editing and audio mixing and all that.
      Overall, great vid though. All the most important bits were on point. Quality content here, man.

    Ok here's the yelling, the audio mix was kinda... shit. I was chewing food and could barely hear what you were saying since your voice sounds so muddy in conjunction with the relatively too loud gameplay footage. Some EQ and/or sidechaining could help. Aaaaanyway, I appreciated the video, it was a good breakdown I think. Though I kinda missed some more to the conclusion part? I believe this will make the game feel more like OW1 in that it will become more about positioning again even in lower ranks. If it's easier to hit people will be punished for bad positioning, and rewarded for peeking from cover. Compare that to the average metal rank game where it's either you get deleted in a nanosecond, or you live forever. How are new players even supposed to learn what they should do when the game does such a poor job of providing that feedback? Good video.

      even tho you are right with some points, i think you havent talked enough about the tank role, because think about it, if the dps passive reduces healing, why not shooting more at the tank? its easier to hit anyway, especially with the projectile buffs. and some tanks like doom, hog and mauga, since they have no shield, or good way to mitigate dmg, theyre just going to explode more easily than before, at this point if you have to buff tank healthpools/dmg why not going back to 6v6, at least the tank role can have more skill expression without relying so much on the support role, and also add the ways tanks can protect eachother so there is less pressure on the poor human soul playing tank(also nerf sombra)

      @@mofumofu9648 I think thats a valid negative byproduct of the DPS passive and it is probably what I'm most worried about. Its tough to tell whether the buff to their healthpools will make up for the difference.
      I actually think the buffs to bullet sizes could help to level things out because it makes shooting squishies more reliable and potentially more valuable. Right now youre missing fewer shots on enemy tanks than on squishies so the increase in consistency will be smaller than it is on DPS and supports.

    The holy trinity (tank,dps,heal) concept and rock/paper/scissors philosophy were heavy outdated back in 2005 , but blizzard somehow managed to release a game in 2016 with core backbone ideas that stopped working decade ago.And they are just literally trying to invent a wheel.All those changes are just for the sake of changes , trying to show us a signs of life pulse.This sisyphus work goona last about 4-6 more years and then they release overwatch 3 - and it will probably look like advanced paladins + fortnite.
    You are just scratching the surface.

      Hero bans would instantly fix 90% of the problems in the game, but the devs are deathly afraid of all the no-skill Mercy players who keep the servers on from buying skins even though Kiri and Ana would be banned most games

    The passive doesn't make in-combat healing from supports negated, not even a little. Even the supports passive does NOT heal in combat. Other roles getting a nerfed version of this means even out of combat, support healing will still be essentially, as is fleeing.
    The support passive itself is not that broken, you have a lot of time to do one single tick of damage. In combat, it does not activate for supps. Same will be true for tanks and dps. The time until healing starts will probably longer, and it probably won't even heal full hp or heal slower.
    So no idea how you get the idea that in-combat healing will be less effective. You do NOT self heal in combat. Unless there's something I missed from that dev blog or something. We should stop being so speculative and wait for the update to actually drop. When they said it's tonned down, they meant it and you'll see.
    People are acting like dps and tanks are getting the exact same passive as supports, which itself isn't as broken as people think.
