I want this thing so bad. Jazz style neck, loud without an amp, beautiful design and color, everything. I usually don't like the feel of acoustic basses, but playing this thing at guitar center genuinely makes me incredibly happy, and woefully upset that its more than I would be realistically be able to pay for a bass these days. I hope to one day be able to have one of my own to enjoy. You guys really nailed this one.
Update: I believe I will be leaving guitar center with my very own fender Kingman today
Ended up buying one with a repaired neck for half the price of a new one, it's repaired really well so I'm happy. Sounds wonderful. Definitely get one. Also came with a really nice gig bag, way better than expected.

@@meznaneTB this is from 3 years ago, but I gotta say that it was a joke, but more importantly is that the entire point of instrument demo's is to showcase the sounds it can make. I can clearly hear the tonality of the bass so I don't know what else you would want anyway. Never have I ever heard a demo that showcases what I want to hear tbh

Please, stop putting piezzo pickups into acoustic instruments, they sound horrible. Mics in fishman pickups work a lot better.

Just like piezo tweeters sound like crap! I use a "real" pickup in the sound hole of my Kingman V2.

Wow it sounded REALLY good with the full band. Wow. And it looks dam sexy. Especially with that familiar jazz neck. Having the tuning keys all the the same side is cool too. Did I say WOW?!!! Fender ROCKS.

This clip did nothing for me. I wouldn't use this bass in this environment -- there are so many better basses better suited for what this trio was doing. I came here wanting to hear what the bass sounded like...and got this? Might be a great bass, but we won't know from this video clip. Waste of my time, and your production dollars.
This video doesn't do this bass any justice at all. I bought one, before seeing this video, and I have played it live in several gigs with a lot of compliments on the sound. I did change the strings from the stock Fender Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Bass strings (cheese graters) that come on it to a set of D'Addario short scale Chrome Flats. it makes a ton of difference on the feel and the sound for me. I play mine acoustically some at home but when live it's always through a Keeley Compressor Plus into a a GK MB210-II, then from there sometimes it get's sent DI to FOH. Great bass for doing covers of "unplugged" stuff such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters, AIC, or if you wanna go old school with some Fleetwood Mac, or Tom Petty, it's great for that too. This bass can do a lot. Shame Fender didn't do better with a demo video for it.

I'll be frank, this is not how you demo a bass, acoustic or not. I wanted to see how the thing sounds on its own and the cool sounds you can get out of it, and the intro does not fall into the "cool sounds" category. Actually I don't know what that intro was since it sure wasn't improv and I hope it's not a song.

Could be his first time on a acoustic bass. Since the strings are a lot stiffer than a normal bass, I can imagine it being a little difficult to adapt to.

Hmmmm, it's got 6 EQ controls, "that actually work." Uh, ok, so you don't show us...in a demo vid, how they"actually" work.
Show how the tuner works. Something! This dude, mentions wood build, and only comment he uses is..."it makes it sound good." Pretty poor video. Ya, I know I'm old, but that intro was so bad. There is no distinction of chord or note changes. Not even sure it could be classified as music!

Don't let this video make your final decision. I bought one a few months ago, before seeing this video. Glad I didn't see the video first.
Go find one in a shop to test drive somewhere. And if possible take a friend who plays acoustic guitar with you, that way you can jam with them and see how this bass plays and sounds against various acoustic guitars unplugged. That's what I did at my local GC and every time I tried a different acoustic bass I wound up picking the Fender back up.
The only thing I don't like about it, the strings, Fender Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Bass strings sound tinny and feel like cheese graters. But I knew if I bought it that I would be plugging in instead of playing unplugged so I put a set D'Addario Chrome Flats (short scale) on it, and have used it on several gigs. No more grating my fingertips, no more zipping sound as my fingers move across the strings, and no more "tinniness".
I've played everything from Fleetwood Mac to Alice In Chains and a lot of stuff in between with it and have had a lot of fun with this bass. It really sounds good with the flats. I run it into a Keeley Compressor Plus, then into a GK MB210-II. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the sound and a lot of "wow, I never would have guessed an acoustic bass could sound like that!" And the neck, it just sweetens the deal. One of the best feeling, playing necks I have ever held. I have been very happy with my purchase of this bass.
Definitely try one out first before letting this video influence your decision. You just might be glad you did.
