If someone gets In your way while lane splitting, that's on you as a rider. No one is looking for an approaching motorcycle going 20 mph faster than traffic.
There are 2 states where it is legal. Both states have rules that lay out when and how you can split. You can not split more than 10mph faster than the traffic is moving. So on an open highway that is moving at posted speed, splitting would not be legal and you would be speeding. So 2 tickets. Also you cannot filter just to "get to the front of the line" on surface streets. It has to be used to help the flow of traffic. So if there is a line of traffic but the road is clear ahead (at a stop light) than again you cannot split. The point of splitting is to allow the motorcycle's space to be used by a car therefore helping traffic by eliminating the the motorcycle factor. But in CA there is an absurdly low motorcycle to car ratio. People there don't believe in public trans, motorcycles, or car pooling like here in New England. Our car pool lots are filled 100% every day, every city and town touching a city has busses, NH has the highest per capital motorcycle ownership ratio in the US, and taxis are all over even in small towns. So our need for filtering is not strong enough to warrant the needless injury rate it will bring because bikers and car drivers are assholes and ignorant. Cars don't look for bikers and bikers think they are bulletproof. BTW been riding for 21 years in New England. Sorry for the long rant...

When I drive my window-less work van I drive with superman so he can use his x-ray vision to look through the solid sides of it and tell me a biker is coming. All kidding aside, this is the type of comment that scares the crap out of me as another driver and rider on the road. You are ignorant (not name calling) of all the possibilities on the road. Example- When you are on a highway traveling in lane 3. You want to change to lane 2. There is a car in lane 1 next to and slightly in front of you. Do you change lanes after your checks? Most people would. But thinking 1 second ahead would tell you that is a bad idea. If you change, you are then in the other drivers blind spot and if they have a bad bulb or don't use a signal they may change too and a bad day ensues. When I ride, I ride like I'm invisible. The reality is on a bike you can see more than a driver of a car can. In my opinion it is up to the rider to make the best choice for safety for their self and the others around them. Just like crossing a street on foot, splitting is not dangerous because the rider is bad but because of all the other factors, bad drivers, blind spots, untrained drivers, Time of day, sun glare, etc. Shit happens and as a rider you have to be ready. I've ridden in LA traffic. I ride at like 10-15mph (in stopped traffic) I look for wheel movement and turn signals mostly. I figure if I hit a car at 10mph my chances of serious injury are mitigated by the low speed. That is enough to warrant the time savings. I will not do it here in NH though. Its not legal and people will not look for it. But please please please. When you ride or drive think 1-2 seconds ahead and consider your moves. Play chess out there, knowing if you make the wrong move someone could die.

I actually have to agree with you... he had a whole lane to his left and just sat in the middle of his current one. This was avoidable... although the smashed window is kinda gratifying.
Car should get a failure to yield ticket and rider being a dum dum also gets the same ticket. If an insurance company saw the video they would see the rider did nothing to avoid the collision but instead intentionally dive bombed into the car.

I can't stand it when these bikers complain about cars changing lanes when they are lane splitting 60kmh+ over what the rest of the traffic is going. When you change lanes, you are focusing on if it is safe for you to move over. Checking your mirrors and blind spots. Yes, I agree you should be more aware, but most people don't focus on a bike 5 car lengths back going way faster than they should.

Past a written exam and a practical drivers test. At this point it's no longer a privilege. You've earned to be on the road and it is your right to be there. No where in any learners manual does it state where you have to look out for bikes filtering through traffic. It simply says to indicate and move over when it is safe to do so. Which these drivers think it is because they don't see the bikers. I'm talking from their perspective. In the drivers head. If the car on your right flashes his lights for you to move over. You are not going to be thinking about a biker in between you two. It is also illegal in some countries and some states in america. It is not illegal to change lanes. It is illegal to speed. So your example about me speeding and hitting a pedestrian is stupid. It's 2 different scenarios. If I was speeding and I hit a Jay walker and he dies, I would probably go to jail. I LOVE motomadness. I used to be a BROKE stay at home dad for over a year and we lived on welfare and struggled financially a lot had a beat up suv that breaks every other week (Back in 2017) I used to watch motomadness back then and imagined myself having a motorcycle and roaming and watching for idiots on the road. But every night before I went to bed I thought to myself; I’m broke I’m not going anywhere and this will be my life forever, well, that changed after I realized there’s a lot of opportunities out there and I can be a better person. I started going to work and grind everyday like a damn machine. Working over time set a goal to have better things and a better life. Fast forward today 2019 we have a 09 and a 2015 cars very nice ones. I bought my motorcycle back in May we live in a very nice house we have really nice things and we are not struggling financially. We go on vacations on the holidays we go on nice dates every other weekend and we love our life now. NOW motomadness reminds me who I was two years ago and who I became today every time I watch a video. Hey motomadness, I hope you took the time to read my boring comment but I love this channel to the moon and back JUST because I have such great memories with it and believe it or not, this channel gave me a lot of motivation to better myself, and chase after my dreams. Is it just me or do half of the riders on these videos accelerate more when they see someone merging into their lane just for the sake of being able to bitch?
The most annoying thing is when someone is clearly in the wrong but still won't admit it and apologize. The second most annoying thing is when someone admits that they're wrong and apologizes but the other person still gives them a hard time and calls them names. We all make stupid mistakes.

The guy getting mad at the Tesla driver at 7:20 has no room to be mad. The guy was obviously going faster than him and although it wasn't the ideal amount of room, it was still plenty of room to get over and adjust your speed accordingly.
Pretty sure they were trying to turn before the group of pedestrians on the crosswalk blocked their path. They figured it was good to go after the car, but didn't anticipate that it would be towing a camper.

The cops who attended the accident saw nothing wrong in my action, and so did the insurance companies, who found the cager fully responsible for the accident. The dude in the BMW had stopped in a forbidden place, crossed five lanes without looking nor signalling. If you hear carefully you will hear me releasing the throttle even before honking. I didn't expect him to cross the whole intersection like that, I thought he was going to keep straight and I didn't perform an emergency brake until it was too late and I suffered objective fixation. One hour after the accident and the vehicles towed, the cager still didn't know what he had done wrong even with me and the cops telling him... So... Any "hard" questions, precious?

If you make a quick lane change right when a car is, or you’re lane splitting at speed on the interstate, I have no sympathy for you. Don’t put yourself in a dangerous situation then get mad when the situation happens. Gotta ride smarter than that.
The first video you see all the time on car dashcam compilations as well. Just because it is legal to turn on red, doesn't mean you are not obligated to wait until ALL hazards are passed! In this case, the red truck was trying to beat the pedestrians (who had the right of way), and said pedestrians were probably the ones blocking the view of the vehicle with a trailer. Double fail! Good thing it wasn't the rider who was hit!!

Full time rider here but most of these just make the bikers look bad. Don't drive like idiots around traffic if you plan on getting mad when someone cuts you off. Silly.
If someone gets In your way while lane splitting, that's on you as a rider. No one is looking for an approaching motorcycle going 20 mph faster than traffic.
Considering biker awareness is part of your driving test you should be. Mirror and signal before merging it's not that hard.
There are 2 states where it is legal. Both states have rules that lay out when and how you can split. You can not split more than 10mph faster than the traffic is moving. So on an open highway that is moving at posted speed, splitting would not be legal and you would be speeding. So 2 tickets. Also you cannot filter just to "get to the front of the line" on surface streets. It has to be used to help the flow of traffic. So if there is a line of traffic but the road is clear ahead (at a stop light) than again you cannot split. The point of splitting is to allow the motorcycle's space to be used by a car therefore helping traffic by eliminating the the motorcycle factor. But in CA there is an absurdly low motorcycle to car ratio. People there don't believe in public trans, motorcycles, or car pooling like here in New England. Our car pool lots are filled 100% every day, every city and town touching a city has busses, NH has the highest per capital motorcycle ownership ratio in the US, and taxis are all over even in small towns. So our need for filtering is not strong enough to warrant the needless injury rate it will bring because bikers and car drivers are assholes and ignorant. Cars don't look for bikers and bikers think they are bulletproof. BTW been riding for 21 years in New England. Sorry for the long rant...

All kidding aside, this is the type of comment that scares the crap out of me as another driver and rider on the road. You are ignorant (not name calling) of all the possibilities on the road. Example- When you are on a highway traveling in lane 3. You want to change to lane 2. There is a car in lane 1 next to and slightly in front of you. Do you change lanes after your checks? Most people would. But thinking 1 second ahead would tell you that is a bad idea. If you change, you are then in the other drivers blind spot and if they have a bad bulb or don't use a signal they may change too and a bad day ensues.
When I ride, I ride like I'm invisible. The reality is on a bike you can see more than a driver of a car can. In my opinion it is up to the rider to make the best choice for safety for their self and the others around them. Just like crossing a street on foot, splitting is not dangerous because the rider is bad but because of all the other factors, bad drivers, blind spots, untrained drivers, Time of day, sun glare, etc. Shit happens and as a rider you have to be ready. I've ridden in LA traffic. I ride at like 10-15mph (in stopped traffic) I look for wheel movement and turn signals mostly. I figure if I hit a car at 10mph my chances of serious injury are mitigated by the low speed. That is enough to warrant the time savings. I will not do it here in NH though. Its not legal and people will not look for it.
But please please please. When you ride or drive think 1-2 seconds ahead and consider your moves. Play chess out there, knowing if you make the wrong move someone could die.

Past a written exam and a practical drivers test. At this point it's no longer a privilege. You've earned to be on the road and it is your right to be there. No where in any learners manual does it state where you have to look out for bikes filtering through traffic. It simply says to indicate and move over when it is safe to do so. Which these drivers think it is because they don't see the bikers. I'm talking from their perspective.
In the drivers head. If the car on your right flashes his lights for you to move over. You are not going to be thinking about a biker in between you two. It is also illegal in some countries and some states in america. It is not illegal to change lanes. It is illegal to speed. So your example about me speeding and hitting a pedestrian is stupid. It's 2 different scenarios. If I was speeding and I hit a Jay walker and he dies, I would probably go to jail. If I hit a biker that was filtering at excessive speeds. I would not go to jail.

I LOVE motomadness. I used to be a BROKE stay at home dad for over a year and we lived on welfare and struggled financially a lot had a beat up suv that breaks every other week (Back in 2017) I used to watch motomadness back then and imagined myself having a motorcycle and roaming and watching for idiots on the road. But every night before I went to bed I thought to myself; I’m broke I’m not going anywhere and this will be my life forever, well, that changed after I realized there’s a lot of opportunities out there and I can be a better person. I started going to work and grind everyday like a damn machine. Working over time set a goal to have better things and a better life. Fast forward today 2019 we have a 09 and a 2015 cars very nice ones. I bought my motorcycle back in May we live in a very nice house we have really nice things and we are not struggling financially. We go on vacations on the holidays we go on nice dates every other weekend and we love our life now. NOW motomadness reminds me who I was two years ago and who I became today every time I watch a video. Hey motomadness, I hope you took the time to read my boring comment but I love this channel to the moon and back JUST because I have such great memories with it and believe it or not, this channel gave me a lot of motivation to better myself, and chase after my dreams. THANK YOU Much love and I’m here alive and kicking EVERYDAY

The cops who attended the accident saw nothing wrong in my action, and so did the insurance companies, who found the cager fully responsible for the accident. The dude in the BMW had stopped in a forbidden place, crossed five lanes without looking nor signalling. If you hear carefully you will hear me releasing the throttle even before honking. I didn't expect him to cross the whole intersection like that, I thought he was going to keep straight and I didn't perform an emergency brake until it was too late and I suffered objective fixation.
One hour after the accident and the vehicles towed, the cager still didn't know what he had done wrong even with me and the cops telling him...

If you make a quick lane change right when a car is, or you’re lane splitting at speed on the interstate, I have no sympathy for you. Don’t put yourself in a dangerous situation then get mad when the situation happens. Gotta ride smarter than that.

The first video you see all the time on car dashcam compilations as well. Just because it is legal to turn on red, doesn't mean you are not obligated to wait until ALL hazards are passed! In this case, the red truck was trying to beat the pedestrians (who had the right of way), and said pedestrians were probably the ones blocking the view of the vehicle with a trailer. Double fail! Good thing it wasn't the rider who was hit!!

LA GSXR is such a bad rider, he's featured in several clips where he's driving way too fast lane splitting and then gets mad at someone legally lane changing
Apparently a lot of people confuse "lane splitting is legal in CA" with "I can do whatever the fuck I want and it's your fault if I run into you while filtering" I suggest all of you review the CHP guidelines and safety advice and that of non profit organizations dedicated to motorcycle safety.
1>Travel at a speed that is no more than 10 MPH faster than other traffic - danger increases at higher speed differentials.
2>It is not advisable to lane split when traffic flow is at 30 mph or faster - danger increases as overall speed increases.
3>Typically, it is more desirable to split between the #1 and #2 lanes than between other lanes.
