  • आषाढी एकादशी | Aashaadhi Ekaadashi.
▪︎The 11th day of Shukla Paksha (waxing fortnight) of Aashaadh month is known as Aashaadhi ekadashi.
▪︎Also called as Shayani (sleep) ekadashi, Shri Vishnu goes into yog nidra for 4 months from today (Chaaturmaas) and wakes up on Karthiki ekadashi in the month of Karthik.
▪︎Devotees observe fasting devoted to Vishnu on ekadashi.
▪︎Aashaadhi Ekaadashi is popularly celebrated in Pandharpur, devoted to Vitthala, the prime deity there.
▪︎The above marathi abhanga is written by a great warkari, Shri ChokhaMela of 13th century C.E.
▪︎Here, Chokha describes Vitthala holding the Shell, conch, mace and lotus. And how Vitthala even
stood on the brick and waited to meet his bhakta Pundalika who was devotedly serving his parents.
