Mj book club, Emma, Nicole and Daniela, thank you so much! And so greatful to you 🙏 I've watched every episode of mj book club reviews, this is the first time I saw the criticism of a book you did and its well deserved, its so obvious the things you've mentioned written in this book are not true, only thing you have to do is do a proper unbiased research, this author should be ashamed, I don't think he is a true jeraunalist, I think this author is a person who writes books just for money, thank you ladies, only thing I can say is you are so brave and truthful, you made me buy 3 amazing and truthful books and I love them so much, remember the time by Bill whitfield, seventh child by Brenda Jenkyns and Michael Jackson and me by Talitha Linehan, I recommend those books to anyone to read but I never going to buy this untruthful book called ' Michael Jackson rewind ' thank you so much mj book club again for this great discussion, love and blessings from Canada. ❤🙏✌👍🦋🌻

Hi ladies, your love and admiration and respect for Michael is just so wonderful...
Thank you for your reviews .... will never get this book....the author just does not get it or even seek to understand, even not doing enough research and writing untruths.

As for questioning why the US was more anti-Michael than other places, I think it would require doing a cultural analysis of what was happening in the States that wasn’t occuring elsewhere.
Certainly racial relations and disturbances in that, and police brutality, both matters that Michael spoke up against. Also the fact that he challenged MTV and only-white Rock artistry, and policies on AIDS and the limits on traditionally male v. female imaging. And also his views on climate change and the military and poverty… his anti-drug and drinking campaigns (when teens were INTO them!) and his “goody two shoes” image, being religious but not of the more common Christian faiths but rather a Jehovah’s Witness… I think these all played a part here. All the things we LOVE him for, I think the conservative/capitalistic society members DISliked him for, seeing him as someone who was rocking the boat and leading too many towards a more socialist societal view and goal. I think they saw him as a kind of threat.
And then on the other hand, he was a black man making more “white” music (and less R&B) and getting paler, and so he wasn’t looked upon by blacks anymore as the artist representing them anymore… so he had less support from them and in fact got negative backlash from his original base as well.
And ALL of this played out in the media ALL THE TIME. On daytime AND nighttime talk shows, music and entertainment shows, tabloid media, newspapers, teen magazines, music magazines, radio, comedy films, whatever.
He became a polarizing figure. And they didn’t know how to deal with it all. 💔
