    Thanks dude. I used your measuring cup method and had my forks off, springs and oil done, and forks back on in 45 minutes. First time I’ve ever done anything like that. No specialty BS tools. 🤙🏼

    I haven't changed out my springs yet. I did have to fully disassemble my forks to clear out a bunch of water and rust that had gotten into them from sitting in the snow for four seasons in a row. I got a fluid measuring device after TWForums told me how to do it. You can play with the fluid levels within a certain limit, but I couldn't tell any difference afterward. One thing they did tell me to do, and I have no idea if it matters, is to pump the shocks with the caps off after you add the oil to get air out of the lower part of the fork. I have no idea if it matters, as to me, it seems like it would correct itself anyway. I also used 15 weight, didn't like it, and went back to 7 weight. 15 was great for coming off rocks, but sucked for small hits. Thanks for the video. I think a lot of people need to know how to do this stuff.

    I have an xt225 and love the 15w oil in it. I also used 1oz more oil per side which increases the air pressure as the front compresses. Love that closing pic, perfect!

  • @RSAgent86
    @RSAgent86 3 года назад +5

    I did same fork springs and the heavier rear spring ... I an 225 so made a huge difference.... using front brake is now “safe” don’t dive in anymore stays stable

    One of the best upgrades you can do! I went with the cartridge emulators, and stiffer rear spring as well. I’m planning on having my rear shock revalved, then that’s it, Tdub suspension is leveled up and maxed out! It really does make a difference. Enjoy!

    Minor suggestion: Before unscrewing top cap on fork tube, loosen the two clamp screws around the tube. This takes pressure off the cap threads. Saw this in a Yamaha OEM service manual.

    Let us know what ya think ? I’m 198 lbs. I bought the same kit you have. I don’t jump my tw and haven’t bottomed out the stock springs yet. And have ridden fairly aggressively, I won’t put the new ones in till I know it’s a better ride and or actually bottom out the stock springs. Maybe my stock springs are still great since I only have 1000 miles on the bike. ?? Interested to see what you think on the new springs. 👍👍👍

    Timely video... I just upgraded the springs in my sertao with progressive springs from hyperpro. I too, upgraded to 15 wt oil. Unfortunately its been too cold and wet to try them out. I also have the rear spring to swap out. That's not as easy for me on the 650 as most bikes. Looks like you are having fun. Thanks for sharing. ~Grizz

    Great video, where did you get the seat cover? Also did you use conduit for the front rack?✌🤘👍

    • @dualdorks
      @dualdorks  3 года назад +1

      The seat cover is the Mad Dog ATV seat cover and the rack is steel. Conduit puts out extremely toxic fumes if you weld it .

  • @IslandADV

    Great breakdown of the instruction. When you do this to a bike, generally speaking, do you need to align the forks at all?

    • @DirtyDovi
      @DirtyDovi 3 года назад +4

      Think of your front-axle as an 'alignment tool'... Slide it through 1 fork leg, align the wheel so the axle goes through, then align the other fork leg so the axle finishes it's way through there too..
      [Just make sure the triple tree clamps are loose enough to allow for some sliding/twisting]
