- We set off from Manchester Airport to the beautiful city of Barcelona which is the first leg of our Spanish adventure. We checked into our hotel, enjoyed tapas and sampled a drink made famous by Picasso and Hemmingway. We flew with Easyjet, The Hotel was called Hotel Gaudi

Oh yea, I remember BHS, great store. Use to really love the Olympic Breakfast at little Chef too. For sure, all the good ones have gone. The demise of Debenhams was the last straw: sad 😢

Well done James nice vlog. Absinthe with water poured over a sugar lump eh. Make sure you go in le Bouqueria off the las Ramblas one of the markets thats nearly as good as Bury market. You & Helen will also be spoiled for choice in the Tapas bars on the edge enjoy. Watching this trip.
8 minutes is not a short walk! No worries Helen, after the first three years the dust doesn't get any deeper.

Barcelona is class we went in may and it was busy but nowhere near as busy as this, you walked past santagustina in el born probably the best food I’ve ever eaten

Very enjoyable. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. I’m half Spanish but haven’t been there for ages so it’s nice to see it, although I don’t remember Barcelona being quite so covered in graffiti.
On your way down to Benidorm there’s a picturesque little town called Peñiscola (pronounced penyeescola) which has a nice old town and castle perched on a hill jutting out into the sea. It was used in the film El Cid with Charlton Heston. There’s also Denia and Altea which are nice places. And Valencia of course.
If you’re sitting at a table in a bar or cafe don’t have your phone on the table and keep feet in bag handles so nobody can slide them away.
What happened to London day two? Did you not film anything?

Next time get the bus from airport to universidad and will save you an hour in travel to your hotel ,also 10 travel ticket for 11 euro 😊

Cracking video of a flight and first night in Spain on one's hollibobs. I must admit one thing England does better than Spain is a right proper doner kebab after a few beers. First Doner I had in Spain(Mallorca) they put cream on it 😫 ..not chilli sauce. Liked the bar Marcella,atmospheric,Spanish culture.

Great to sit on the boardwalk with some food & drink, sea beneath, people watch & see the cable cars to Montjuic. London bar definitely worth a beer. 👍

@bythecurb hi I am in salou tomorrow I think if you are driving down to valencia you pass salou on the way down it's about 45 mins from stiges. I Sent you an email from your website with my number if you are passing by , no probs if your plans change. Valencia is a nice city and bus to benidorm easy.

Love it! I mentioned before that me and 'er indoors are going to Barcelona in August for our golden wedding anniversary and guess what - we will be staying in the Gaudi hotel you were! It will be my 6th time in Barcelona and the fifth time we will have stayed there. Wonderful view from the roof-top bar overlooking the roof of Gaudi's Guell palace. We also visited Hemminway's bar off Las Ramblas and I guess you'll be visiting the Sagrada Familia. Keep up the good work guys and I'm looking forward to the full day in Barca video.

Great video as always, thank you so much! Last summer I flew from Newquay to Manchester and back the same day and hired a car from the airport. I absolutely hated Manchester airport. The shuttle busses from the planes were horrible, we were crammed in like sardines. Not being funny, but there were large groups of aggressive/loud young bearded men with white dresses and flip flops shouting in their native language in the airport which was not nice. Such a shock comparison from Newquay airport. I was so glad to get back to Newquay later that evening. Never again.

Your hotel looks very much like one we stayed in around 18 years ago (memory is a bit hazy). Our hotel served “curry flavoured ice cream” which was strangely kind of nice.
