Strange NOISES in the WOODS While WILD Camping

  • The original plan was to hike 2-miles down some logging road during the daytime, setup camp and then explore the area a bit. However, I was slow out the gate and arrived as the sun was going down. Still hopeful to make it to the clear-cut before dark, I quickly realized just how dense these woods were. And then, three quarters the way in, I experience what sounds like cracking limbs less than 100 feet away.

I believe the sound you heard was a female owl calling for her mate. I have heard them many times on my property to varying degrees of pitch. The other noises that followed I have no clue. Please tell me you are armed when you are out in the wild like this. Its not always the animals you have to worry about. Its the humans that use our woods for all kinds of nefarious activities that I am watchful for. Be safe out there.

This is a good explanation as well as some keen advice. It reminds me of those elk diaphragm calls that go on the roof of your mouth. That's where my mind went... This is also why I try to go places where other humans aren't. To hopefully rule the human factor out. Us people seem to be everywhere though...

@@thehoggattproject Yes, unfortunately, we humans are prolific. I am a retired forest service ranger and I can tell you that Mexican cartels are using our national park lands and forest to grow cannabis and manufacture other drugs. They are everywhere and go deep in the woods where they think no one will disturb them. This is why I recommend everyone be armed when they go into our park lands and woods. It's a sad reality of how things are now. Good luck. Love the videos.

I thought it might be a lens reflection from the camera, but if you slow it down to 25% it doesn't seem to follow the same movements as the headlamp. That is weird!

At 16min 32 seconds in there is a glamour/cloaking in the bottom rt corner the camera is trying to reset itself but you can clearly see the movement

I've had this happen a few times where I get some electrical interference while out in the sticks. This day and age it very well could be some kind of cloaking device.

That squealing noise you heard I'm pretty sure those were frog farts. You know how tight there asses are. Also, those noises that sound like jets. Na! Na!, that was big foot urinating against a tree.

That is a great question! If I were near the beginning of the trail, I probably would have taken the hint and head back to my vehicle. However, if I were already near or at my destination (the clearing), then I would hold my ground. The woods were simply too dense to go back through them in the dark.
It also depends on whether or not I was by myself. I've had this happen before when I was with another person, and we investigated it. We didn't see anyone or anything that night, but the next morning we found a survival shelter about 1/2 mile away. That suggests that another human may have been doing it.
My question is: If we caught whoever (or whatever) was doing it... what happens next?

I hope you are packing a firearm. I never go into the woods here in America without a gun. The one time I did not carry a gun in South Carolina, a wild boar chased me and my little border terrier up a blown down tree. God was looking after us, because the tree was a few steps away. I swore never I go in the woods with out a gun after that. Perhaps one in a million chance that, that happened, but it did! Plus, there are to many weirdos out there as well.

    • @thehoggattproject

That is quite the experience, glad no one got seriously hurt. Wild boars are vicious! I've been lucky with how many times I've been out in the wild not to have too many dangerous situations arise, but I have seen a handful (both people and animals).
One in particular I'm thinking of, was when I went for a bike ride through a wooded electrical powerline easement. I stumbled upon a family of elk crossing from one side to the other and the bull threatened to charge me. Even though I was about 60 yards, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to turn around and pedal off fast enough lol.
