- September 25, 1969: President Nixon spoke on the South Lawn at the White House where Prime Minister Golda Meir was given a formal welcome with full military honors.
Any woman who hunts terrorist down one by one with pure passion of protecting her citizens like a loving grandmother who takes no shit from anyone is why Golda was a treasure for not just the people of Israel but for the world. A truly great lady.

I remember the Yom Kippur War of 1973 and the U.S. airlift of much needed supplies to Israel at the height of the war. I'm 54 now so I was almost 12 years of age in October 1973.
You have to ask this question. Do the democrats hate Nixon because of watergate and everything legally that came with it or that Nixon greatly helped Isreal in 73? I'm appauled whenever I hear a democrat criticize the Jews so I believe its a fair question.

GOLDA MEIR's speech is much deeper than RICHARD NIXON's previously memorized speech
Gola Meir was NOT born in the USA, Mr. President (perhaps you were imperfectly briefed!) but she did mostly grow up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and is an alum of what today is known as the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, where the main library bears her name.
She was born in Ukraine but grew up in the US.
Unfortunately, Nixon got some bad information. Golda Meir was not born in the United States, she was born in Russia (now part of Ukraine) She moved to the United States at the age of six before moving to Palestine, now Israel, in the 1920s

Fascinating! Nixon was very helpful to Israel, although he was personally anti-Jewish, and Golda was very grateful to him. They got along splendidly. Both of their legacies are complicated, Nixon’s with Watergate; and Israelis have mixed feelings about Golda. They certainly understand her role in the return of the Jews to their ancient homeland, but are justifiably astonished at her bumbling leadership during the Yom Kippur war (these observations come from my daughter and her family, who are Israeli).
Nixon had few shining moments domestically within the US but his skills lay in International relationships and ally building. I have read (I assume correctly) that while in the midst of Watergate, Nixon took a call in the middle of the night from Mrs. Meir telling him how essential it was to have immediate access to US military equipment. By making sure Kissinger and others followed through for Israel, Nixon provided an incalculable benefit to our most important middle east ally.
I loved Nixon for what he did for the Jews and Israel! Golds Meir is as tough a lady as they come!
