- These are the trains I saw the last day of my trip, around Pittsburgh and in Ohio on the way home.
1. A look at the P&LE engine facility & some switching in McKees Rocks PA.
2. CSX train 135 passing through McKees Rocks on the P&LE main line.
3. Conrail train westbound under the Liberty bridge, seen from Mt Washington.
4. A northbound Pat transit LRV crossing the old PRR Panhandle bridge.
5. A switcher at the old PC&Y yard office in McKees Rocks.
6. The first of several shots of Conrail westbound Mail 9, seen here passing through Leetsdale PA.
7. Eastbound Conrail PIMO departing the east end of Conway yard.
8. Mail 9 passing again in Rochester PA.
9. An eastbound Conrail freight at Wales road near Toledo OH.
10. One more look at Mail 9 at Wales road.
11. Amtrak 48, the Lake Shore Limited at Wales road. Авто/Мото
I remember running past the P&LE shops like it was yesterday and now all thats there is a speedway and a defunct intermodal/storage space…..
What is the saying ? You do not know what you had until its gone ! I miss every thing about the P&LE Railroad . the sights , sounds and smell of diesel and coal . I grew up running around this yard . I also had a good Friend named John Foley who was an Engineer on the P&LE .
Love the P&LE shops
Sadly, the PLE U Boats were gone by this time.
Really enjoyed this series
Thanks, glad you liked it.
and csx ended up buying them out,
Hi. I am making a short documentary on the P&LEs last passenger run. Is it alright if I use some of the footage here? I will make sure to give proper credits.
Sure, no problem
Dan Cluley thanks!
