I did the same thing back when I had mu bubble caprice but I used the metallic gold, passed for old school center golds unless you were closer then 5 feet away
I can restore them for 60 bucks. It can take two weeks turn around to get them back to you. I am currently restoring another set 84-87 tails. Also have a guy sending me his set from Florida.
All I did was prep the wheel like clean it really good. Dry it off then I used a air compresser to blow off the extra water that could be hinding then I wiped it down again. Then I masked it up and use rustoleum primer I use about 4 coat on that let it 5 minutes each coat then I use four coats of gold 5 minute apart and then unmask it so the paint won't stick to tape or peel off.

I would recommend cleaning the rims with wheel acid first, then also make sure you get primer that is meant to stick to chrome. Otherwise it may flake off when cleaning. Another idea might be to use Plasti dip white first, then paint the gold over the dip paint. I tied painting my spokes years ago and it flaked off. I’ve been dipping my rims ever since. But that’s just my own experience. I can’t speak for others.

@jrburger1987 got. A filter on the video so hard to see the actual.results , but looks good, what paint was that bro or what kind do you recommend for that nice shiny gold daytons look ? Appreciate it 🙏
Thank for the video. Just bought a set of 14s with minimal amounts of surface rust would love to paint them gold. Did you scuff the spokes with sandpaper at all or did you just clean them up and started spraying them
I clean them up really good I didn't bother sanding them since the cleaner I used was already eating the chrome up.. So I just primed them and spray them.. I was thinking about putting some clear coat but didn't have any at the time.
@@666SeeR999 I used this thing called mofo wire wheel cleaner when I notice these spokes was rusted I knew it wasnt going bring the chrome back, but it was eating away the chrome since the chrome had minimum wear and breaking off the spokes and the hub also washed it down with dawn soap and a sponge.. Not bad homie ive owned a few sets of spokes that were painted to match the cars i owned not a big fan of painted rims but if there old and if this brings em back to life then fuck it
I just bought some used 18 inch spokes there pretty beat up but this gives me motivation to spray paint them
Yeah if they are beat up and rust it's best to paint them nothing else other than expensive to rechome them.

This is a real good way to fix a rusty rim that can't be fixed. Good video homie
Nice, but I wonder how long it lasts. Wheels get a lot of abuse from road conditions and fluctuating temperatures
Would be more durable with a 2K clear coat
Brotha ur video gave me inspiration to get down on my rims
Then I turned it in to a part time hustle
Gracias
Glad it help you out... I still have other wheels to restore... I haven't got to it to make videos but.. I'll do some more soon.
Lovely masking 👏
mask game was on point
Thank you for responding I really appreciate i also have another question I have the tire on the rim do still think I can do it with the tire on?
