For a few years now I've been aware of Amanda Palmer, and listened to a song of hers hear and there. And then I read The Art of Asking, and now I just want to absorb as much of her stuff as I can, because I've realized how awesome she is. Neil's rad too.
I find myself smiling throughout these performances for no clear reason. You know these guys are special when they reach you on that subconscious level.
Amanda's Judy Blume song made me realize how important people like Christopher Pike and R. L. Stein were to my development as a youngster. I hope someone can say the same about her one day.
They're not in love, they're in lust. how can you not see that? they see other people for a reason and that reason being each other is not enough for them.
It's not love, it's lust. I love them both but they're not in love and them needing to see other people shows that. they're not happy enough as a couple to just be together, they need to add dozens of women and men on the side
lovelyxskinny i have not heard that they want to see other people (i take it you mean sexually and not socially). but if they do, i don't think that means they don't love each other. polyandry - it's a thing.
+lovelyxskinny You don't understand open relationships at all, do you? Right. Didn't think so. Have fun on your judgy horse. Hope it tosses you off sometime.
59:00 I wish Neil would talk about the mechanics of writing. He sometimes makes it sound like writing is a magical process that just happens. It would be great if he went on Writing Excuses, for example, and really digged into a concrete subject
Neil Gaiman - maybe the time has come to do your own "On Writing" & maybe get into a complete catfight with King on adverbs! ;-) I'd *love* to read what you have to say about the craft of writing.
Being at one of his shows in New York, I wondered what wonderful secrets I would discover if I tried to steal Neil's iPad. Definitely decided it wasn't worth it, but I still wonder what's on there.
...had to pause watchin' and listenin' "an evening with..." as i feel like to share my impressions... shame to say, but i have met amanda palmer listenin' to the dresden dolls... was sos surprised with my "discovery" and fell for he immediately... then one evening i subconsciously "...googled HER..." and then paraphrasing neil's "feminine endings" was lost like a child... ;) similar but completely different from tori amos or lori anderson, ehrrr stop stupid comparison... and then neil, who has written "coraline"... together they create a real diamond on today's music scene... ok, enough but last word is: "an evening with..." is looped on my iphone and it's gotta stay that way for a long time... wish you guys many happy years 2gether as a couple in private life and on stage...
Amanda performs it more beautifully, but when Neil does it, there's more soul. Maybe it's the male female dynamic or the fact I heard Neil do it first. I just always prefered his version.
I love Neil Gaiman but I really am not a fan of Amanda Palmer at all especially her music I’m sorry no disrespect intended just sharing how I feel so differently about these two, I respect their love tho

I'm definitely in the "I can't believe you two--my favorite writer and my favorite musician..." camp. :)
Amanda's Judy Blume song made me realize how important people like Christopher Pike and R. L. Stein were to my development as a youngster. I hope someone can say the same about her one day.
These two are such an adorable couple! I love the way she lovingly and attentively she looks at him! :)
It's such an incredible relief that Neil Gaiman, also, goes "oooh, shiny!"
At 47:46 Neil tries to drink the microphone. Treat yourself.
SyncopatedProgress LMAO
SyncopatedProgress I can't take it
+SyncopatedProgress Ha ha ha ha.. That is ADORABLE
+SyncopatedProgress Bwahahaha, I totally missed that!
im fucking dead
Amanda changed my life. Neil changed my life.
Neil & Amanda are friggin genius! I was cracking up quite a bit. Good stuff!
Eating my homework with a fork and doing my Froot Loops in the dark since 31.01.14. Thank you!
Neil Gaiman is amazing, so is Amanda Palmer. They are both so talented,
yes and funny. I subbed you. Love, Laura
This is so sweet. They're so in love.
yess same
luv em both. neil cracks me up so good...
Neil looked so proud of himself after the British and American joke (too cute)XD I cracked up!!
God I love these two! Such talent between them, and the looks of love between them.. adorable!
They're not in love, they're in lust. how can you not see that? they see other people for a reason and that reason being each other is not enough for them.
an amazing couple .. great artists!!!
look at how she looks at him, that's love

i thought of that after i wrote the comment. i don't think she meant it literally. to me it was her expressing her fear of getting married.
Lust fades- love doesn't. Having open relationships doesn't tarnish a relationship. Get over yourself.
This is lovely. How had I never heard the ukulele anthem before??? Love you guys, this is just fantastic.
Neil Gaiman has haters? What? WHAT? WHO ARE THEY? THEY SHALL NOT LIVE TO SEE THE SUN RISE AGAIN!
Do not hate the haters...
God that Genie story is so pretty
I Google you!
I love Amanda's outfit.
Amandas' biography is hands down the best I have ever read
The Judy Blume one gave me feels.
Always cry at Judy Blume.
I love the message behind the ukulele song. :)
You two are so inspirational! Each on your own and as a couple.
Love the ukulele song. 25:25 - 31:33
I'm of Both audiences!!! if I met them both together I'd go nuts, lol!!!
so far i am so amazed by this pair and this woman.... only at 16:33
I've only listened to this without the video and this is very refeshing, i like it
Why can't they adopt me, though? Why can't I be their art child and just create things forever?
wow amazing thank you for sharing
Judy Blume! Great.
Looking forward to Sat. The Bowie Prom. Dont suppose that Neil will do anything. It will be Amanda and we love her.
59:00 I wish Neil would talk about the mechanics of writing. He sometimes makes it sound like writing is a magical process that just happens. It would be great if he went on Writing Excuses, for example, and really digged into a concrete subject
My heart is breaking today...
They are currently the coolest couple in the world. Past couples included Budgie & Siouxsie Sioux, and Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson.
he reminds me so much of Snape
he IS Snape (but with a much happier life)
It is the hair
it's the voice
finally i'm sure that who i am. thanks a lot :)
Judy Blume meant the world to me too.
I miss their dynamic.
Had the poem existed when I got married, I'd have included it with Kahlil Gibran. Love you Neil.

Wow.

augh i love this
what book is neil reading from with the genie bit?
Ela Melo a short story anthology that had its proceeds donated to charity (not sure what the name of the anthology is, unfortunately)
2nd time I've heard Amanda do the Ukelele song, go on, it doesn't mean you're failing.
What's the name of the story Neil read?
writer love
i rediscovered because love called out upon me
17:55 😍
pause at 7:07 just saying.

Does Neil Gaiman ever wear color?
One time he wore dark burgundy. Neil looked different to me but I couldn't say why. It was because he wan't wearing black.
Amanda performs it more beautifully, but when Neil does it, there's more soul. Maybe it's the male female dynamic or the fact I heard Neil do it first. I just always prefered his version.
Google is cringe, sucks Neil gave this crappy corporation a second of his time. Neil is a champ tho
hahahaha THANKS , I'M GOOD!! P.S...husband leaves you, make good art... Peace
Lush
I love Neil Gaiman but I really am not a fan of Amanda Palmer at all especially her music I’m sorry no disrespect intended just sharing how I feel so differently about these two, I respect their love tho
Neils Yoko. 100%
How so? I'm here because of her. Amanda's Yoko?
look at the way she sits, she could be more feminine i think.and still look extravagant.
Holy schmoley. What a schmuck. Is there a single more over rated popular writer? Or one who needs an editor more?
That poor wife.
He’s a fantastic writer. Sorry if his genius is beyond your puny mortal comprehension.
@@edwardm1326 He's the L Frank Baum of his day. Enjoy!
@@babyirene3188 So a highly successful writer, beloved, adored, studied, influential and change literature for the better? I agree.
Dude, what ? Do you even know who he is ? I'm not saying he's the best writer ever, but he is pretty fantastic and definitely not over rated
