This section of the game and the music is really giving me FFXII vibes, which I'm quite enjoying. The plot of 12 was *so* forgettable, and I found the characters really lacklustre, but the environments, musical queues, and mechanics were incredibly good. I feel like they've been recycled, improved, and now used somewhere they can really shine.

Agreed! They took the best parts of exploring/hunts in 12, mixed in 9 with the colorful beasts
The more I watch these let's play, the more I'd love to see a Crisis Core DLC... which I really should give it a go one of these day.
