    I only managed to get the JAVN cordless ratchet from Temu for around €7, because it was my first ever purchase from them. They managed to lure me in with that offer. From that moment on I have seen the JAVN ratchet on both Temu and Aliexpress for anywhere from €40, up to €70. Do you think it is a good deal for €40? Because for €70 it certainly is not!
    Parkside cordless ratchet review and test:
    • NEW TOOL! Parkside PAR...
    All batteries were fully charged before the tests!
    By far the worst product out of the ones tested in this video is the Worklight from Temu. It is absolutely awful. On the other hand I was most impressed by the bolt extractors, because I did not think they would work at all and in the end they managed to pull out some absolutely awful looking screws.

    The 3 year no quibble guarantee on Parkside (Lidl) and Ferrex (Aldi) equipment has got to be a winner for things you don't use often. With all Chinese goods you have to understand that the customer is doing quality control, and the cost of any return rate has been weighed against having a large QC department.

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  10 дней назад

      In all honesty I have never managed to return a defective tool to China. They somehow deliver them from Aliexpress with free shipping but return shipping is in the hundreds of Euros if there is a battery with said tool. I guess Temu would be easier since they ship from witin Europe I think but nothing even comes close to Parkside and Ferrex.

    As a retired Electro-Mechanical Engineer (HND) I have been using TEMU for several years without a problem. I will qualify that by saying if I do get a problem with anything that I have purchased, the first thing that I do is contact Customer Services (C.S), explain the problem, then after C S gets back to me after contacting the seller they tell me to either keep the item OR send it back to their U.K mailing address postage paid of course and they refund me the total amount, and more often than not I get a duplicate with an apologetic note from the seller.
    My advice is IF you are going to purchase anything from TEMU you only get what you pay for, think about the job/role that this item will be used for and make your decision then.

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  День назад +1

      You are spot on! As with all other things in life you get what you pay for. The screw extractors were fantastic, I am sure there are also other non-power tools that can do a job well, but how many jobs can they do? Also for power tools with batteries I am still not convinced. I can't let a battery charge unattended for fear of a fire or something. If I don't buy a battery from a reputable store I will always question the quality of the cells within. Also a very big negative point with Temu is all the spam notifications and mail. Those made me delete the app...

    Just bought a Javn ratchet 3 weeks ago for 10 euro just for testing agains the Parkside, like you did😂
    One downside it that the USB charging cable outputs 13.4V. So you either use that one and hope you never lose it, or use a 13v power supply or charger.
    Another downside it that I did not manage to find a spare battery to buy.
    I modified the Javn ratchet to work on Parkside batteries, since the shape of the batteries is identical.
    I cut a groove on Javn ratchet so I do not modify all my batteries and also grinded a little bit out of the back of the tool.
    I also changed the polarity on the tool pins. But because the electronic is extremly simple, it works without this but in reverse😂
    Loved the video tho👍

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  27 дней назад +1

      Not a bad idea at all! I may do it to this one just so I have a spare one. I never thought cordless ratchets were so useful until I got one. Now I can't live without a cordless ratchet nearby. I did not think about the USB charger at all but after you pointed it out that makes sense too! I hope I will not lose it... The one fairly big negative with the JAVN ratchet even for the special discount price is the lack of a variable speed trigger. I find that annoying. Did you get used to it or was it never a problem for you?

    • @MsAlexmoruz
      @MsAlexmoruz 26 дней назад +1

      @@BrokeLifeEU yeah, me too. Once I bought one, I realised how much easier it makes your life.
      I use the Parkside one more. The Javn ratchet is not being used too often and I used it more for unscrewing things. So the on/off trigger doesn't bother me so much.

    The extractors well worth the money. I take it there wasn't any instructions with it. 1 hint. is. you're supposed to put the smallest possible one on. the knot or bolt. You're trying to extract and usually you hit it with a hammer so it digs in. But your example was plenty good enough to show its use. I'd be interested to know if you got rid of the app because of the. because of the quality of the tools or because of the pop ups they blast at you. Because if it's the pop ups, you can switch those off. But you need to go into a computer to do it. I have no trouble with the ads annoyingly. Whereas I do know people that do. I have bought a lot of stuff. from Team U. from house cleaning products. to tools. and I accept some of its absolute trash. But a lot of it's very well made. One thing I've noticed in recent weeks is they're starting to sell bigger products of. first they were really only tiny things that would go in one parcel together. You know there's more power tools appearing. even tool boxes on wheels.

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  21 день назад

      Thank you for the hint! I can confirm I did not know this about the extrctors, however you are also correct on the lack of any instructions front. So I just winged it 😅 As for the app, the ads were a disgusting amount. The 24/7 spamming with emails I also had enough of fairly quickly. And then it is the fact that I felt I could have spent a lot more on the thing had I not deleted it. So for now I would rather save up some money 😅! Thank you for your time! I hope you enjoyed the video! I am struggling to find other tools pn Temu for a decent price however, what tools did you get and are they still available?

    I have a couple of the Parkside work lights, I've had them for about a year. Generally very good except the battery life before they need charging is really rather short.
    I also have some older triple A battery work lights that do a better job and the batteries last very much longer. When you run out of battery you can pop fresh ones in and get on the your work straight away rather than hang around waiting for the USB to do it's thing.
    No contest as far as I am concerned, separate batteries every time.

      I know what you mean I have come across the same reality. I bought 2 Temu headllamps and a worklight. I was initially impressed as are very bright but the headlamps battery only lasts about 15 minutes. The worklamp appears to be better designed and made than the one in the video but if left for a few days the battery is always dead. I have never been able to see how long it lasts as it is dead when i go to use it. If the batteries could be improved thet could be very good but as they are you have so little time you cant do much.

      The batteries I think are by far the biggest issue with tools from such places like Temu. They can't hold a charge properly and take way too long to charge. For me personally I don't want to stand around and wait too long for batteries to charge. The quicker they charge the better.

I bough the ratchet in the video for €7, because it was my first purchase. I would never have paid 10 times that for it. Now it is down to about €35 which still I think is a bit much when the Parkside is about €45. However €35 it at least somewhat of a realistic ask for it.

      If the batteries drop the charge within a few days then they are not Li-On of any description. It sounds more like Ni-Cads which are famous for doing just that, then never taking a full charge again because of the dendritic crystallisation. Having ordered from temu and having worked for a electrical tool importer supplying the big German discounters Lidl, Aldi, & many others.
    These discounters take prospective examples and independently test rhem almost destruction prior to placing any orders.

I have found that the buying department of Aldi and Lidl do an excellent job of identifying products that do what they are supposed to do and are at the lower end of the cost range. I would add that the big supermarkets are not as reliable in this respect and that lower cost items from them may not be as good as the Lidl or Aldi versions. "just for the hell of it" this was my entire reasoning too. I would not buy tools from there to use as intended. I mark them as spam and somehow they appear again in a couple of days. I have deleted my account AND still I get emails! You completely cocked up the torque test. The torque to crack a fastener is many times the torque required to fasten it. You should've used a floating beam torque wrench attached to the ratchets and measured the stall torque.

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  10 дней назад +1

      Yes, you have a point! However this test for a ratchet does not mean much at all, because in the end it is there to drive a fastener and not to break it loose. It is just to test how both against eachother. Otherwise there are better ways to break a fastener loose and then drive it out wirh a cordless ratchet.

    Parkside is not of superior quality, these tools are the better Chinese products but they remain being Chinese. The Temu stuff I have never seen in real life, I assume it is a Ali Baba quality, it will last till it is out of the package but not as long as using it for a second time. Often it is better to go to a second hand salesman and ask for ten years or twenty years old Made In Germany tools. I have seen YT movies about tools made in the century before last century, still working, only need a little paint.

    • @BrokeLifeEU
      @BrokeLifeEU  10 дней назад +4

      Yes, despite Parkside proclaming itself as a German brand it is all made in China. No surprises there. On the Temu front I also agree! Had it not been for the €7 price on that ratchet I would not have bought anything from there! As for the Parkside tools some are not worth it at all! The Performance line though I do like, most are pretty decent and for a casual DIY-er I think they are good enough. The other thing that I have to mention here is the warranty. You break it and they replace it. I have not had an issue with a warranty claim so for me they are sufficiently good. Also I must mention again that the only reason I am purchasing tools from Temu, Aliexpress, Alibaba etc is to produce some fun content. I do not claim to be a tool specialist and would always say to go for the best brand you can afford withn reason. If you need the tools in your job Hilti/Festool are the brands you need to look at. However if like me you use the tools once in a blue moon Parkside is a good enough brand. I hope my video has not caused you too much trouble I only make these videos for entertainment.

      I’m in no way saying it’s the case for all “parkside “ products but my father owns a parkside sander which is infact a Bosch machine! Probably a model Bosch had discontinued and stock that parkside had acquired directly from them in bulk, so to this end I think they are less an actual manufacturer and more a model /product “sourcer “ and the products they provide are just “ rebranded” versions of whatever from wherever, so basically when opportunities arise they acquire products at the right price at any given time ( as many other brand suppliers obviously are these days too) All I’m saying is that you have to take the quality of both Temu and Lidl/Parkside on a “ model by model basis” (just like Ali-express and Ali baba etc also) as opposed to whether they have a good overall “range” of products

So has Aldi invested more in to Ferrex and if the tools were easier to find I can say they would be a good competition against Parkside. However the fact that Parkside have many more offerings and the tools and batteries are currently easier to find I will have to go with Parkside on this one.
