I love lifted trucks and own one currently. BUT, bumper laws should be in place in every state for highway use. If you haven't seen what happens when these trucks crush people in cars you should ask officers and EMTs who have witnessed it. My whole highschool seen it at 2pm when school let out and a lifted truck crushed a Camaro killing a 16 year old in the backseat. Raise them up but lower the bumpers to match the other cars. Make the bumpers either removable or motorized for greater clearance off-road. The driver of the lifted truck is my friend and he has battled with suicide ever since. Please highlight this response because it is very important.

FYI that is illegal cause you do not have a low enough bumper. My uncle had a lifted truck and cop said just put a low enough bumper on it and it is legal. Laughing at brake torques on the lifted trucks. Have fun replacing universals all the time. Also make sure he had wheel flares that covered the top of the wheel.

In California it’s illegal, not the lift, the exhaust pollution. As of 2025 Gavin Newsom made a law banning
personal gas or diesel operated cars /trucks/SUV’s. Only semi transport and farming equipment is exempted.

Little known law. In some states, there's a height limit for headlights. In California it's 54 inches. That's why PG&E and other utility trucks that are high for off road use, have their regular light location blocked off and put them lower on the bumpers. If you exceed light height limit, your vehicle is illegal. Not many people know about this, except truck drivers. Even a lot of cops don't know this.

We had the same problem with bumpers on the 70s cars when we jacked them up. Just 2 tunes and a pipe that hang down off the back to 18 inches off the ground and put a chain on it so it can be adjustable and there isn't nothing they could do about it.

NHTSA says headlights above 54 inches are illegal in 50 states. This law makes lifted trucks ILLEGAL. It's a federal law.

Horsepower means Absolutely nothing to diesel, it's the torque. If your truck is putting out black smoke it means something wrong with your setup.
