These guys are good with their coverage, especially Erik. Not sure where he gained all of his football knowledge, but he has definitely helped me gain quite a deeper understanding of, and hence appreciation for, the smaller nuances and intricacies of the game. This by far beats my "school of Madden" upbringing, which has only benefited me so much to this point, lol
Feels like I said this a lot last year, but the fact that we played so bad and still should've won that game gives me confidence. If we can figure out how to use our guys more effectively and get them open and actually catching the ball, we'll be just fine. I just hope Brady and the offense figures it out before its too late
@joeyfouchajr6413 nine of our current guys have breakaway speed so it has to be designed plays, but when not executed properly, it's all a mess for JA and he needs to be superman
I actually can't believe the score was that close. Every time I watch more highlights I cringe. Then again, I am watching offensive highlights from the Texans game, hahaa. You are correct, though, it is definitely impressive, in hindsight, that we did manage to keep that game within reach. Fairly impressive, actually.
I suspect the thinking was, hey Mahomes was able to do with no-name receivers, so we could do the same with Josh. Difference is JB/SM are not Andy Reid, and we don't have Travis. I am afraid we are going to have another lost season with, at best, another playoff win. SMH.
That and I wouldn't mind sending both "backs" out into the flats, making it near impossible to blitz Josh without getting punished every time. Throw anyone back there with Cook, honestly. They are all potential playmakers from that spot (minus maybe MVS, not too hot on him at the moment)
Eric Turner, great breakdown, this level of accuracy and honesty. Take the gloves off and let them hear this, McBeane and coordinators OC & DC. GREAT JOB ERIC!
As always Erik, love your breakdowns of film. That being said, what had me skeptical this off-season was the lack of weapons Allen and this offense would have against better defenses and now that fear has come to fruition. The only guy that can separate is Shakir who was inactive for this game along with Kincaid who had dropped way too many passes this season. The Bills are in trouble and will struggle mightily against the jets secondary next Monday night. I'm now picking the Bills to lose that game as I picked them to lose this game. There's just too many injuries and lack of talent at the skill positions.
Niceee. As usual, Erik. I think the quandry is, that you need to call the deep shots to keep 'em honest, ....but then the deep shots end up being wildly unsuccessful, lol. Meaning we either need to stick to some 'ol reliable power run, etc, until we plain force them down, ....or get better at hitting wideouts downfield somehow (maybe just chemistry/time?). Or, just stick to the short game, and excel there, ...banking on our playmakers making big YAC plays every so often, ...which, aside from the running strategy, is at least a somewhat reliable strategy at simply keeping the chains moving...
Lmao. I know I shouldn't, but I found it funny after a bit. It was as if they were setting receivers up to be obliterated on purpose. Shoot, I'd rather see an awful holding penalty than watch one of our guys get decked at standstill. Rough on the eyes. Swear they were having fun with it, hahaa
The 7:55 mark, the 1v1 3rd down throw to MVS vs Stingley, theres a wicked missed facemask/hands to the face/dedensive holding, whatever theyd like to call it, on Kincaid in the slot after he blows by his man. Not sure how the hell that was missed considering he took Kincaid to the ground in the open field with no one around him. Lotsa problems with this game so it seems trivial to complain about missed calls, but this one was brutal.
Oh yeah the refs didn’t call this game fairly until the 2nd half. Just like the Baltimore game. Once all this shit 💩 stops pouring out of the refs ass they finally made some calls on Houston leading to a Bills come back
On point. We really missed Khalil 10 presence. I expect also that the necessary adjustments will be made. 🏈GO BILLS ❤️💙 our best 🏈 is still ahead of us.
@@tomcoon9038 We have plenty of talent. Loads. But I can think of many instances Sunday where possession guys were sent on go routes while speed guys were sitting still underneath, wasting entire plays at the very outset. Not saying we have special one-on-one man beater receivers, but hell if Josh can't be wildly successful with this group, given some reasonable play calling. Don't act now like weeks 1-3 never occurred, lol
Allen had other options to check to. The Texans personnel are built to bring pressure with 5 and maintain coverage discipline. The opportunities were there.
Watching these plays shows me the same things i see when i watch my team; there are plays to be had, but pressure, and pre determined decisions on where the ball is going dooms a lot of offensive plays. Allens first shot shoukd have been a big gain to the rub WR, but he never looked that way, mybe because he never got the chance, maybe because the play was just designed for M.Hollins.
Always appreciate the breakdowns Erik. Excellent work!! Obviously there are a lot of issues right now, some structural, some schematic, some guys not winning their 1on1s, poor execution, lack of talent. A lot of which you hit on here. I am not liking Allen's process right now either though. I understand the reasoning behind some of his decisions, but it does seem like there are better oprions on some of these plays, even if its to checkdowns, guys realing from blocks, or just quicker hitters on shorter throws that maybe gives a guy a chance to break a tackle and run. And does it seem to you that there is more they could be doing with perdonnel decisions, and structurally to help these guys more vs man coverage? Every week we see plays where guys get lost by 2nd level defenders on plays flowing one way, and a back is slipping out behind the line the other, or a TE is releasing or faking a block back across on the weakside edge player, theyre hit in stride with nothing but green grass to run to. Or getting guys a head start with motion. Why on earth arent we allowing Samuel to try play like a real WR and give him a chance to separate on intermediate & deep throws, or trying Keon in the slot. Also out of pure curiosity, how did Shavers look on the routes that he did run? Did he have any success vs Man? Was he reading zone ok? Just curious if he could be a guy that could maybe replace a Mack Hollins next year, bc he seemed pretty solid as a blocker in preseason. Thanks again man!
Another great break down. Mike Evans has made a living off from in, up, and out breaking (sail concept?) routes. Tell me Coleman isn't built for something like that. He could use some of his agility instead of having to be a track star or make nothing but contested catches. Allen needs to lean harder into taking the profit, it will help the guys outside if he gets it going with the dink and dunk stuff.
@@tomcoon9038 Hollins should be special teams only, put the rookie Coleman out there. A where was Knox???? Where has Knox been all year!!!??? Fkn Joe Brady is turning out to be as clueless as Dorsey.
I really hope Brady can turn this around. I thought he was going to be a weapon for us this season. These last two games have really started to give me some doubts about him. I think he needs to drink a little more Moxie or something. It feels like they only have one formation to run the ball out of, when they bring in the extra tackle. That’s only going to work for so long in the NFL. We need more variation in the play calling to keep defenses guessing. Figure it out!! And quick!
I know when I’m able to predict 90% of the plays that are going to be a run or pass…. the defense will also be able to predict it. It feels like they went completely away from motion over the last two weeks. And also that first drive against the Texans looked so effortless running the ball, but when they got into the redzone, it was 3 straight passes that were incomplete! What happened to running the ball until they prove they can stop it??😢 It would have been a tone setter if we ran the ball down their throats straight into the end zone on the first drive of the game, but we didn’t even try to when we were inside of 10 yards. That really pissed me off! It reminded me of a Ken Dorsey decision
This is a very detailed explanation of we don't have wide receivers who can beat man coverage. Something we have known all offseason and acted like wasn't going to be a problem. Beane brought in at Chase claypool, MVS and Mack Hollins... And then only drafted one receiver who skill set mirrors gave Davis but is worse than gabe Davis And I got killed for saying this when he was drafted but he's proven me correct. Rub routes and screens are great occasional separation creators but at the end of the day it is not the offensive coordinator's job to create separation for his receivers his receivers need to do that and these ones are incapable. Every team is going to play us like this going forward. Unless someone can become an actual weapon most games are going to play out like this one.
appreciate the breakdown. appears Bills O is doing just enough to fail on every down. only takes one guy not doing his job, that includes the coaches. everything is fixable though. theres ways to beat every kind of defense presented you, and theres ways to scheme guys open better. Texans and Ravens got enough tape on the Bills previous 3 wins and played towards the offenses tendencies. you cant build your team just one way. you have to be well rounded and be able to adapt to what others are trying to take away. Go Bills.
These WR made the average Texans Defense look like the 85 bears, I was at the game and it was painful watching them try to get open, they pressured Josh all day because they could main up and blitz with extra men.
1st play is a rub route where Mack pauses to let the "rub" run past and not get in the way of his defender...I don't understand that The "fake run" at 4:25 makes no sense either. An Edge is more likely to try to catch a RB from behind. so if you don't block the Right side Edge, because you are selling that you are running Left, you can't then just have the QB keep the ball...you already intentionally didn't block that Right side Edge. Seems the only time you don't block an Edge is if you are actually running away from them, or if you have a RB behind them that you are dumping to. You can't not-block an Edge and keep the ball in the QBs hand.
I love 86 & 73 but on that one screen Kincaid can't let himself get Wile E Coyote'd like that and Dawk showed off his impressive foot speed running 40 yards without making a block. Everyone on the offense (including staff) ate from the shit sandwich on Sunday.
Put burners into the pass game, such as Hamler and Isabella. I know McDermitt won't do that , because it would work, which is why he going to cashier himself out of town along with Beane who trashed the o-line by getting rid of oc Morse, moving McGovern to the oc, who hadn't played there since his sophomore year at Penn State. One has to figure the logic of Beane bringing in Collins, who was done, to act as the next ot, as it was thought Brown would sign a free agent contract and be gone. So, they see Collins can't play ot and was at best a guard, so they ultimately cut him and sign Brown to a 4 year deal. They draft Coleman who is slow and can't get open, pass up Worthy to KC and Brian Thomas to Jacksonville, who has 2 long td's.Their d-line guys are at best average, with Rousseau being a good run stuffer. Millers' signing has been a trainwreck-enough said. And, what's the deal with the constant parade of defensive players getting injured and the offense has next to none???
Do you think the pass to Hollins was an overthrow or a bad job by Hollins of tracking? Also I feel Josh underthrew Kincaid on what would have been a sure Td if he would have laid it over his head a little. That os if Kincaid would have caught it. Those 2 plays would jave made a huge difference in the game amd future games.
Do you think there is any possibility Allen was concussed last week and this game was carryover and insult to injury a possible second concussion? I'm pretty concerned.
Josh was 9/30, and this game was still winnable says a lot. Coaching loss this game. Should have challenged the Kincade catch. Should have run time out at the end of the game and ran the ball. Lastly why are we lining up for a Hail Mary when the other team only needs 5 yards?
While he hasn't been used that way, Coleman is arguably a deep threat with contested catches as his strength rather than speed. With that said though, the Bills needed speed
I'm sorry to say this but Josh gonna have to run some to get them out these looks. Josh Allen is the X Factor. Instead of taking hits in the back field( because he's gonna take hits anyway) why not take these hits running instead of being hit constantly by the biggest defenders(D line men).
Too soon to hit the panic button? This team is either hot or extremely cold.. I think this next game they need to let Cook and Ray Davis run. Our WRs and TEs are just too inconsistent especially Kincaid who’s suppose to have a breakout year, but making rookie mistakes still.
THEY DONT RESPECT OUR RECEIVERS…. seems to me that Brady is calling the “man beaters” but the execution is not there. There’s no separation on 1vs1s. I actually feel a little frustrated for Josh. Imagine going deep and a receiver catch the ball? That’s how you beat cover 1. The NFL is a chess game and receivers are not executing
No mention of Allen's misfire to Kincaid in the seam, or Allen passing up the rub route between Coleman and Hollins for no apparent reason, or Allen throwing a back shoulder jump ball to Coleman to his inside shoulder right to a DB. Just apologizing for a brutal performance from Allen.
@@briandugan4691 no. At some point you have to look at the common denominator, JA horrible decision making. At this rate, their season will end soon than later so he can at least get back to vacationing.
In my opinion, Joe Brady had almost no pedigree whatsoever as an OC before coming to Buffalo. Firing Dorsey as a scapegoat was bad imo. Dorsey was more complex to some degree and schemed receivers open more often. The offense just wasn't executing the plays to a high level and Allen was playing poorly just before Dorsey was fired. I'm not a Brady believer yet, not when I watch other teams scheme wide receivers FAR more open all day than anything Josh ever sees with Brady.
I feel like joe did well as far as the scheme. But we have no x reciever to do what he wanted to do. Except idk if curtis couldve been that guy. Hes a smaller fast guy. Idk why they didnt try him out. Hes small, faster with decent ball skills. Why not let him loose on the back field ?
They throw at the end when they should have ran all 3. They run when they need to send everyone deep. Imagine Defenses not worrying about the Deep Ball when facing Allen? Seriously? 😂
@@jonjohn7185 High IQ folks like you sent Andy Reid packing off to KC. You're counterparts clambered for BD to lead the giants. Show us your incredible IQ and tell us who you replace McDermott (and Beane?) with?
The most productive games Josh Allen and the bills have produced offensively in all the years he’s been there… has been when he runs the ball…. You want a supercharged offense….. I’m sorry to say, but he hast to run more. Run Josh run …
That razzle dazzle bullshit play vs the ravens where josh allen lined up as a WR and they tried to do a reverse pass? I don't know know what the fuck kind of play that was and it waclvery obvious once the back received the snap from the center and started running towards to allen he was going to backwards ladderal the ball to him! And the ravens were not fooled ! Josh took 1 of the biggest hits on that play of his career! And his first turned over of the season! MY QUESTION IS WHY???? WHY EVEN put your QB in that risky position. Why even try to run that kind of play??? I dont understand. PULL THE FILM ON THAT PLAY PLEASE.
This is not Brady so much as it is McDermott's mindset. They just don't want balls over the middle . Sideline throws are very low percentage. Go look at the chart of Mahomes ball placement Monday night. Compare that to Allen's. It's gross. Allen has no interceptions and no chance under this type of conservative scheme. Your TEs and receivers are big. Send the ball high and let the guy make a play. That is what great offenses do when coverage is tight.
As good as this offense looked un the first 3 games this offense is shite. We can't trade for anyone, so we really need to completely change the offense in season. Run pick plays on every rout like the Patriots used to do. Offenses gas to change or I believe the season is over already. Still have KC, detroit, SF, Seattlr wont be an easy trip even though they just lost to Danny Derps and the Giants. Colts could be trouble with Flacco and Taylor back. I'm not much of an optomist if anyone couldn't tell. Go Bills.
Lol, the pass pro was fine. You can only block 5 guys with 5 OLineman. It's the backs missing blocks, and WRs not realizing they're hot and needing to cut off their route when a Blitzer is coming. Also Allen not diagnosing well at times and adjusting the protection. It's on everyone, but probably least of which is the OL. And give an extra second? How long do you expect these guys to hold their blocks vs 5 & 6 rushers. The WRs need get open quicker.
I don’t see anything wrong with Brady’s offense. Your video is based off opinion.. The scheme comes from the number 1 offense and national championship. It’s execution that was bad. If you really watching film it’s execution is the problem.
Brady needs to do more crossing patterns, that's one of Allen's strong points and it's barely been done.
Yes yes yes. Deep overs!!

100%
I was hoping we would get a video like this. Honeymoon is over. Need to figure it out or get some dudes in here.
They also need to pass block better...... PERIOD
Josh was 9/30, and this game was still winnable says a lot. Coaching loss this game. Should have challenged the Kincade catch. Should have run time out at the end of the game and ran the ball. Lastly why are we lining up for a Hail Mary when the other team only needs 5 yards?
is there any juice to samuel or is he another miss by beane?
"we all eat" has turned into "we all fast"
why did we pass on drafting Worthy, he would have been our deep threat.
While he hasn't been used that way, Coleman is arguably a deep threat with contested catches as his strength rather than speed. With that said though, the Bills needed speed
They gotta have a look at Coleman for deep balls, inside and the outside.
We need to keep speed on the field, and stop having Knox run so many routes with Kincaid. That's do damn easy to guard.
Is Curtis one of the fastest receivers in league. How many deep routes has he run? And did was he winning any? Only see him on gadget plays?
Their receivers can not separate... simple as that
You can almost tell within the first 3 snaps how the offense will operate on a weekly basis
I'm sorry to say this but Josh gonna have to run some to get them out these looks. Josh Allen is the X Factor. Instead of taking hits in the back field( because he's gonna take hits anyway) why not take these hits running instead of being hit constantly by the biggest defenders(D line men).
This coaching staff is the Achilles heel of this team and Allen. Need a new HC and company.
That’s a bad take
@@briandugan4691 no. At some point you have to look at the common denominator, JA horrible decision making. At this rate, their season will end soon than later so he can at least get back to vacationing.
Seemed like Josh was taking the easier throws and now he’s not. Combined with a lot of drops.
I never thought I'd say this...but...I think josh might be playing too safely with the ball
Done in under 13 minutes. Lesson should be noted by other members of the team.
Really nice work of framing this segment. Did notice the safety down alot on the broadcast. What is the counter move? Have any old Dree Brees cut ups?
Adams please
Kincaid is hovering near busy territory this season. O-line is leaving Josh frantic.
when you’re a novice to a job - you’re always running the risk of being a one trick pony
only lesson the OC needs from this is, no more SCREENS.
1:28 true story
Seems like everybody on the roster and the coaching staff had a horrible day
I didn't understand why they lost until this came out. Normally they only lose when I bet on them.
Why aren’t you on Staff?
if you look at the plays samuel is getting seperation maybe just put him on primary routes instead of these shitty ones
Seems like Worthy should have been the pick.
I think ravens dc did and now other teams are replicating it
They throw at the end when they should have ran all 3.
They run when they need to send everyone deep.
Imagine Defenses not worrying about the Deep Ball when facing Allen?
Seriously? 😂
Yea that fatukasi 0lay had nothing to do with fatu and everything to do with WHY THE HELL EDWARD'S AND MCGOVERN JUST LET HIM GO....
2 words: Amari Cooper
Oh no, we suck again 😢
Is Brady a bad playcaller? Seems like no one can get open
@@jonjohn7185 High IQ folks like you sent Andy Reid packing off to KC. You're counterparts clambered for BD to lead the giants. Show us your incredible IQ and tell us who you replace McDermott (and Beane?) with?
My boys dropped a lot of possible picks =/
Yeah if they don't figure something out this Jets game might be SUPER ugly
The most productive games Josh Allen and the bills have produced offensively in all the years he’s been there… has been when he runs the ball…. You want a supercharged offense….. I’m sorry to say, but he hast to run more.
Run Josh run …
Fire them all hire Belichek
McDumass is a terrible coach and is holding the Bills back.
They do not have the personnel to t
Run the offense so Brady needs to adjust
Brady can only do so much to scheme WR’s open who aren’t any good!
Go Bills.
YUP... OTHER TEAMS ARE GETTING WISE TO THE BILLS GIG!!! GOT TO THROW THE BALL DEEPER MORE >>> BEYOND 20 YARDS OR MORE!!!
The pass pro was TERRIBLE the last 2 games. That's ur biggest issue. Give Allen another sec and watch what happens
The Bills are all washed up...season is over.
Because they lost 2 games now every one has figured it out that nakes no sense the bills will fix it
I don’t see anything wrong with Brady’s offense. Your video is based off opinion.. The scheme comes from the number 1 offense and national championship. It’s execution that was bad. If you really watching film it’s execution is the problem.
Do you see those concepts.
It's balls tho that allen could have thrown it's jus the trash ass receivers
