    I have the same winch on the back of my dozer, D8H 46a21259. Almost impossible to find any videos on these old scraper winches. Also I believe yours is the first that I've ever seen on RUclips dealing with the scraper winch. If I ever stop running out of other issues to deal with maybe I'll get my winch up and running. Thank you for the video.

    when he was pulling his mule,i think just throwing the master clutch out would save it......adjusting this is what im here for tooBUT I BET THIS IS A POWERSHIFT

    • @HaydenIngram
      @HaydenIngram  Год назад

      Was doing that to keep some tension on the cable so that it would wrap correctly and not overlap…

      Yes 48a powershift d7e, also sitting beside it is a 47a direct drive 7E, runs but for parts

    Neighbors of ours have both a D8H and K. I think the K is thirty HP bigger than the H. Both work good but I'm the same as you and have a wee preference towards the H. Thank you for the video up date eh.

      K had more final drive problems than the H as the extra HP was right on the edge.

      Hayden, any idea if this scraper type wench can be used for wenching objects or is just useful for controlling scraper? Thank you

      @@philippfister3194 not really..these wont pull like a winch as THEY ARE MUCH TOO FAST..this is not a winch...these two drums have a ring gear and pinion to slow them down where as a winch has ALOT MORE GEAR reduction!....the front units were running off the end of the crankshaft so you had live power whereas this unit required the master clutch to be pulled back to run..

    Great video! A few questions. What was the difference between the No. 25 and 29 CCU's? Also, were the rear units driven by a shaft that ran through the tranny to the engine? Also trying to figure out why Cat offered a cable of the front engine crank and others off the rear. Any help is appreciated! Thank you

    • @HaydenIngram

      The number 29 is driven off the back of the engine rear gear train. Far as I know the only ones driven off the trans were a true winch not a cable control unit. Front mounted would be for if you were pulling a cable pan you wouldn’t have to tie the blade up or take it off and use 1 drum for the pan. It’s been a while since I read up on CCU. So I’m not sure about the 25. I do know a no. 29 could fit on a d7,8 or a 9. My 47a actually has one off an early D9.
