      Wasps are assholes. Unlike bees, they don't need reason to sting you, they just indiscriminately stab everything, and will do so continuously until you pry them off.

    South Carolina also has fire ants. I moved to SC in 2016 and 2017 and I saw a huge mound of fire ants. Since March 2018 the ants have invaded the inside of my house (maybe on revenge). I can tell because:
    A: they are swarming my family's front porch.
    B: I woke up a few weeks ago before mosquitoes wake up covered in ant-mosquito venom bites

      I like Coyote Peterson, and I appreciate his love of nature and making it accessible to people all over the world, but his dramatizing of insect stings gets kind of old. It's for the best, since it probably encourages people to stay away from them, but it kills his credibility. Ant and wasp stings can be very painful and the pain can last for hours, but it's not the crippling, torturous agony that he portrays it as.

      Ants, like all insects, do not breathe but rather oxygen diffuses into their exoskeletons. This is why you cannot have giant insects--volume increases exponentially while surface area increases linearly, meaning they would suffocate if they got too big.

    I don't know the flies remained me of a Simpson episode where they keep bring new hunter for the unwanted species and it did not end well...

      I think it's the one where Bart nursed a pair of lizard eggs to birth, which ended up taking over the town. I think it was Lisa and someone else in the end who were discussing what to do with introducing predators, and they ended up talking about hypothetically using alligators or something.

      This is a good thought! But no reason to worry. The flies have been tested extensively in the lab and phorids are extremely specific to their target species. There is very little chance that they will begin targeting other ant species, and their best hope is to keep fire ants under control anyway, eradication is impossible at this point

    • @urbanprimitive5766
      @urbanprimitive5766 8 лет назад

      Actually, they did figure out a really complicated way for it to end well. Now, sometimes it does not, such as introducing Mongoses to Hawaii to control rats. Turns out that they prefer birds. But hopefully these flys will just eat fir ant heads, which is OK with me.

      There's just one thing you forgot. A very little chance is more than none. And since I'm affected by whether or not this works, odds are the unluck of the 1/8 Irish will come into play, and those flies will mutate somehow and start laying eggs in EVERYTHING! Then people will bring in chameleons, which will then eat native flies and start overpopulating, and then people will bring in the next on the food chain, and so on until eventually the whole continent is overrun with lions. I know this sounds unlikely, but again, I have the unluck of the 1/8 Irish, and am affected by this.

      It's a demonstration that fire ants are non-Newtonian liquids. Undisturbed, they flow like a regular liquid. But shake them up and they will clump up into solid ant-balls which you can pick up, and then they adopt liquid behavior once again.

      +Mr Schrödinger - I am the one who reviews. that's very interesting are you saying then that one can collect them via this technique in order to move them elsewhere or also would that mean then thst if fire ran thru that area literally that they would survive the ordeal due to there liquid matter of anger if provoked and lastly which I can do but I was reading do they as well have a queen ant like the bee if he stated in video I missed it as I learn many different things daily I will share with you now I solved the NW 🌐 👹 ILLUMINATI MATRIX which is like there plan to infiltrate in this manner and the @Queen_UK is the leader and coorelates to there INVECTUS games and where 🔥🐜 originated from thanks for sharing knowledge and thanks to person who made video

      +Tommy Klein well if it's nit provide data links just don't make blanket statement I am going to look on my own to see but I find it interesting until I find out otherwise unlike your comment does not give me reason to think it's not a complimentary add to the video if one wants to view there purpose complimentary to the economy system like a misquotes that have been man made and now are drones that carry ziki virus created by NW 🌐 👹 govt and also the bees the are niw killer because govt force feeds them.corn syrup and ships in bees from other countries to feed only on almond plants in CA and now we have disease bees in america

      +Tommy Klein actually, ants are Non-Newtonian liquid. Or atleast a demonstration on how they act like non-Newtonian fluids. Take oobleck for example, let it flow, and it flows, try punching it, it becomes hard. Make these ants feel the motion of waves or water, they act like liquid.

    A little clarification: 1:55 I said "imported" species, not "important" species. Sorry for not enunciating!
    I mean, fire ants are still important, just maybe not for the best reasons.

      +It's Okay To Be Smart Actually, they are to me. My paternal grandfather met my paternal grandmother met BECAUSE of ye olde fire ant. She was native to Michigan. On vacation in Florida, she had her first encounter with ye olde fire ant. For around 15 minutes, she had this stinging feeling in her foot that she could not shake. Luckily, my grandfather heard the commotion, and sprayed her with a hose. And... well... the rest is history.
