    The key reason that tesla is going to be able to come out on top of the budget ev race is their profit margins. Legacy auto makers are still reliant on ICE vehicles to stay profitable while Tesla is bankrolling new factories and new innovations off of only EVs

    • @anydaynow01
      @anydaynow01 8 месяцев назад +1

      That and the advertised price will include fuel savings. Not a bad thing, more EV makers should advertise that way since it's a hard expense for a pure ICE vehicle.

    • @G82Watts
      @G82Watts 8 месяцев назад +1

      Tesla is fooling everyone talking about how they are able to cut manufacturing cost. Yes, some of it is true but the real reason is using lower grade materials and fabrics. It also completely takes away the cost of a HUD and gauge clusters which are really nice things to have. They try to make it sound like because they can produce better that's why it's cheaper when in reality it's just they don't offer the same things high end cars have. Carbon fiber racing bucket seats or luxury seats, alkintiare, buttons u can use that feel great to click and look at, carbon fiber areas in and outside the car, high grade steering wheels, ambient lighting , not plan jane dashboards,etc...

    • @user-xs5ri4nx7d
      @user-xs5ri4nx7d 8 месяцев назад +1

      My point was that tesla seems to be able to make a profitable and compelling EV for the price. Unless legacy automakers can step up their game they won’t be able to compete with Tesla in the budget car market. Also, I don’t doubt that 150k luxury sports cars have nicer interiors than a 50k Tesla, but they don’t need that. Most people care more about the practical aspects of their cars.

    • @danielthompson3928
      @danielthompson3928 8 месяцев назад +1

      So I believe they said that before they designed the structural battery pack so it will likely be a least 2 pieces for the underbody going forward. In addition, the unboxed method is based on creating larger modules so the doors, frame, glass, and dash will still be separate and can be added at the "stations".

    It will be interesting to see if Tesla actually uses a single casting since the unboxed approach as shown by Tesla is not consistent with that approach. You cannot have multiple unboxed sections that come together near the end of the process if there is one casting piece. My quess based on recent rumors is that Tesla will not use a single casting.

How long does it take to charge, explain all this and what level ( to what percentage) do you charge . How much does it cost me to supply and instal a charging unit at home for a basic house infrastructure set up. How long is the warranty. Is it comprehensive, what are the exclusions, and are there items that individually, are not part of the warranty. How much time is devoted to training me to use all the systems etc. This is a major issue .. also there should be a high class intuitive way to tell us to do anything .. you know hey Google turn my headlights on full etc blah blah blah.

    • @chrisalbertson5838
      @chrisalbertson5838 7 месяцев назад

      Some just asked mme what it would cost to install a charger in the parking area of an apartment building he owns. I can buy the charger for $1,500. It simply wires into an outlet box like any other big appliance, like say a water heater. But the cost to install the outlet depends on how far from the main breaker box. Let's just say "$1,500" to run wire in conduit on the outside of the building. So for $3K he could have a charger installed. But a big deal here in California where rent is about $3K per month.
      So apartments cn have chargers a week or two after a tenant asks for one. That is what I told him. It is MUCH easier to install a charger than a gasoline pump. Pumps require underground tanks and you just can't put them ner a residence. Charges are like installing a streetlight, not hard because the building already has power.

They developed cheap an fast manufacturing because of Giga press casting. Battery packs will be more cheaper in 2 years. Maybe they will cast the whole Model 2 in one casting. Tesla is 5 years ahead of all electric companies.

      Tesla will move 90+% of Fremont current human work to Optimus by the end of 2025 (maybe sooner).
      The remaining jobs should pay well.

    The Tau will use 800V and charge much faster than most any current vehicle. With an overall small battery pack (~60kWh), could be 10-90% charge in

    Today EVs are far far too expensive to buy.....Up to now...e.g. as an example.....
    I bought a new VW Golf just under 5 years ago under the VW diesel scrappage scheme.
    My old VW Golf which I bought new in 2006 was traded in for a brand new Golf 1.5 150bhp petrol with the new price was around £25k...I got £6k for my old Golf and also some extras plus discounts...
    Overall my new VW Golf GT cost me around £19K cash.
    So I have this great VW Golf which has done around 15k miles and is still like new as I keep it in a garage over the winter......A full tank can take us anywhere in the UK without any hassle.
    Looking at new VW EVs...The ID3 for example.....For an equivalent to my trusty VW Golf, a new one would cost around £50k!!
    Trading in my Golf which I reckon would be worth around £15k if I am lucky, I would have to fork out £35K to go electric!!
    Obviously, like the Golf I owned previously (2006 to 2018), and 12 years old and very reliable, I think that I will stick with my trusty newish VW Golf for another ten years at least.....That will take me to 87 years old....
    Why on earth anybody would buy an EV is beyond comprehension.....The prices are just far too high.
    (By the way a new VW Golf petrol now cost around £30k with the extras....£20k less than a new ID3).
    They would be better to buy a S/H VW Golf, if they can get their hands on one and stick with it.....

      Not likely. Plan on buying higher-end models. Or from another company. The Tau is designed to be very simple to build with minimal options. Most customers just don’t need AWD.

    Bolt only offers lithium Ion batteries vs Tesla which offers many battery types including LFP lithium IRON. You receive the full range, 100% (LFP) vs recommended 80% charge with lithium ion. Lithium IRON(LFP) love 100% charge all the time and tolerate 0%. Plus more life cycles, less fire risk, with IROn, LFP etc. hopefully next year LFP M3P batteries USA with more range. Many competitors thinking of switching over to LFP for entry models. CATL is a real leader in LFP.

      Ford’s planned LFp factory in USA under scrutiny as CATL Chinese company. 80% of batteries made in China. USA only around 5% battery factories. It’s a homeland security issue

    I got a feeling it will look like the cyber truck. Easy to produce wit ha giga-press. Easy repairs I hope. If they can make a 100 to 150 miles with a daily 20 to 30 mile solar charging. Also fast charge 20-80% in 10 minutes with a level 3 charger. I'd be happy.

    That use case for Giga Austin wasn't baked in?
    Don't they read my posts? hehehe!
    Austin needs a freeform flexible space to design product lines as they will be installed elsewhere. Back before built, I included this, some other stuff too, in what I thought they ought to consider.
    Consider being able to replicate the next planned physical updates to Fremont (and elsewhere), in Austin? You endup with a plug and play super fast install for CA; while, actually running the lines in CA as you build. Then, in Austin, during "down time" updating the line in CA, you are putting out the new model-variant. Depending on what you want to do around overlapping production, you start up Fremont with proven hardware and a fully trained crew.
    Also use that space in TX, and experience, to initially house & launch a "Factory Designing Firm". Offer that to US EV startups. A turnkey 100,000/yr model line, bespoke design, trained crew. After a few customers, expand to other industries.
    I wrote a similar bit on SpaceX recently & the only response was for me to quit fantasying, or at least not share it if I must contrive it.

  • @Starship007

    Tesla through space X knows software and hardware as they make both. Even NASA has stated the above. Tesla wrote 30 years of software in months to program robots. The best part is the part you do not need. Simplifying production lines with less robots. Almost a fully automated production line 24/7. The 4680 DRY CELLS removed a whole section of toxic black slurry line of mixing and baking saving more time. With the tabless battery even faster production times. Stream lined production. Batteries for battery storage really taking off for the grid. Tesla offers both SOTA and FOTA OTA that competition still dream about
