Thanks for posting. This was so helpful in teaching my previously non sailing other half the various rules and terminology around points of sail and who is stand on and give way. Als great just to watch and remember many happy trips sailing on the Broads. I have always maintained, and always, will that the Broads are the best place on the planet to learn how to handle a sailing boat.

Excellent footage, felt I was almost there with you! Barton Broad was where I learned to sail dinghies as a schoolboy and I have been back many times since in yachts hired from Camelot Craft, Martham Boatyard and Eastwood Whelpton, though never had the confidence to enter the annual Barton Regatta. Do you need additional insurance to enter?

Footnote: I also lucky enough to crew a Contessa 28' for two weeks each year all around Europe between 1996 and 2015 from as far afield as the west coast of Scotland, the North Sea, the Baltic, the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Aegean, the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian sea.

Not sure if you need extra insurance for hire boats to enter as Mike was on a friends boat. This boat is from Olivers Sailing Holidays based at Martham Ferry Boatyard and it was being skippered by the boatyard owner.

Just checked with Mike and you do have to pay extra insurance for racing

Some great footage of Windjammer-my favourite!
