I don't care if someone has autism, can barely speak the same language as me, or has a incredibly bad stutter, I listen. And how disrespectful can you get cutting someone off like that.
Stephen's work DOES match up!!! The photographs are from a different angle but if it would be the right angle it would perfectly match up!!! He is more than amazing!
@@crazyfoo3553 Kim Peek, aka rain man, was a genius. Did you know he helped NASA with calculations to find distant astroids that our scientists and technology had a hard time finding? Also, the modern calendar was invented around 1600 and he was the person responsible for calculating what our modern calendar would have looked like from 100 AD to 1600. Show some respect or at least try not to think so binarily. If anything, that's what these geniuses can teach us at minimum.
I know it's a tv show with time restraints but i hate seeing her cut him off when he's trying to talk. I think i speak for the large majority when i say, we'd rather hear what he likes most about Manhattan than the BS "news" you guys talk about on the early show!
She did let him talk and even paused to let him continue but you have to remember he is not socially normal so he is missing social cues for how to act properly. I'm actually impressed the host handled it so well.
No matter how they dealt with Stephen, it. doesn't matter... he is an amazingly talented human being. their treatment can't take away the obvious we have just witnessed!
Bullshit .. she ruined it .. perhaps you are her colleague from production side of the team trying to play it low as if nothing happened. I wouldnt even be able to explain it because of some sort of miscommunication. Let's just name things what they are !!! She was just fucken horrible cutting him off in the middle of the santance that is so diresepctful woooot! :-/
The photographs were taken from a different angle compared to his own vision. I have studied art myself and can't even draw a good house rather than a city, in such great detail too. Remember also he didn't look at photos, he went up in a helicopter and took a tour of NYC.
There are some diferences becouse of angles, and camera lenses disortions. Also when he flies over the city, he seeing city from diferents sides, and when he drawing he must everything convert to one panoramic picture. If he would be able to see all city in such one angle, i can bet he would draw it more precisely.
As a young man with an autistic little brother, its an High Honor to see This Brother be a Shining Example of The Potentials We're all capable of, if we'd get out of our own way. Based on the quick scan of ridiculous arguments and comments that have been made under such a display of brilliance, we probably need more autistic individuals in the world.
No, she is not, somebody off camera was talking to Stephen, probably his sister, you can see he nodded. It's hard for him to speak sometimes, but he is really lovely and an amazing artist, he was drawing it for days and every now and then they were showing his progress in the program.
They had him draw Rome (I think Rome, I may be wrong) from just one helicopter ride, and the accuracy was better in my opinion. Also, considering the fact that it was a 20 minute helicopter ride, I'd say it's OK for everything to not be spot on, especially considering how similar the pictures are in the first place.
...she didn’t cut him off. This is a live news segment. They didn’t have time for him to gradually build his thoughts out. Clearly she’s got someone in her ear telling them they have to be out and back to studio in a specific timeframe.
well on tv theyre pressed for time, cutting off people of all walks of life who cant finish their statement in a timely manner, though I agree that in situations such as this, its the news outlets job to not do the interview live, but to edit bits together so as to not rush the interviewee along
He doesn't claim professionalism, he sees and he does. Even if he took pictures, it obviously shows him on camera drawing the left side of the portrait without a reference. In the match up it's also clearly not perfect to every detail but you have to consider that even getting the right shape and skyline of a city is a very challenging feat, even for proffesionals. Most it takes a lot of planning.
Did she have to cut him off in that rude manner? Makes you question which side is supposedly supposed to be the 'normal' after all, because clearly she's got a problem that's either in her head, or that has gotten to her head
you think they could have shown some photos from the same angle as he has drawn it i saw i documentary that showed he was right down to single windows let alone building height and size?
Ok you can stop talking now I’ve gotta finish what I want to say. She’s got terrible social skills, super rude. Journalism at its worse. Stephen is an amazing human.
is sad but is true. i saw that with my son. but that goes to everyone else. if you isolate yourself from outside distractions you will get very good at whatever you choose to do.
I think that’s irrelevant and that he’s good regardless, over socialising-him would be futile, he’s clearly moderately autistic so it would basically be a waste of time
Obviously it's not 100% accurate. It's probably not even 50% accurate. But the fact of the matter is, after viewing the cityscape for a short time, he was able to draw an intricate and believable representation that could not possibly be mistaken for any other city.
For those who blame on the lady, I believe that she's done her job as best as she expect, but maybe the news producer wants a quick interview , by telling her through earphone /ear device that attach on her ear, that's why that Lady look so hurry and don't interview him in detail
@Zuurkool1 WHOAAAAAAA How the hell? Lol, I didn't mean to remove that comment. I had made a typo in it, no? I decided to remove it, and repost it with a good sentence. Im not sure what I did... I am tired, after all. And lol. You've never met me, and yet you are making all these lovely remarks about me. Oh, thanks for the compliment, good sir.
carmen corrigan If they didn't have the time to to allow for his disability then they should have altered the content. Your comment means nothing in respect to the puzzled look on his face when she just dismissed him. I am disabled and share what i think may be some of the unwanted attention this amazing guy gets, but none of his talent and thus the lack of positive adulation.
these people just use that super talented man to get ratings and hits on this site. shameful. let that dude speak. his work is amazing. if they let him speak he may cure cancer with his words.
In the 1:11 shot it does not look the same with the exception of one sky scraper. Thy must be using a bad angle in the comparison shot because it is not close to being identical.
@ maydayfire: The 'bitch' reference was out of place, inappropriate, also tacky. There's are time limits for every segment on tv - did you know that maydayfire? The rest of you, who absolutely must use the 'F' word after seeing this miracle of a man, take a deep breath and hold it for about an hour. Stephan Wiltshire deserves a better audience.
@adikshlemarc I knew I would get a reply like this. Hehe, I would do so, but I don't feel like it. Im more into drawing people and water coloruing landscapes. Whaaatever. Im not trying to change anyone's mind about him, just saying what's on the video. They say he can draw everything by memory, but that's not it. He only draws random buildings that aren't even in the same spots nor are they the same. And hell, I'll keep your challenge in mind. \.
@Xao14 You are so quick to react with: "Don't mind if I do" It only took you one minute! But then you remove the comment? You sir are something special... and i mean that in the worst kind of way, to be sure
I actually agree with you... his art didn't match with the photos at all... apart from obvious Empire S, Statue of L etc The rest just seems like repetitive filler. I've seen MUCH better from other savants. PS... the guy still is a good artist
I have no problem at all with the concept of photographic memory, and I know Savant people can do amazing things. That said, nothing I've seen from Stephen Wiltshire has impressed me, or convinced me he's the real deal. Hang me, insult me if you like it, but I need more than this. His big pictures always have a pencil outline already sketched, and they're not really that accurate (he gets the most eye-catching buildings right, but the rest is too vague). In another documentary, he's flying over a city in an helicopter and he takes a picture with his smartphone. What for? I'm not sayin' anybody could do what he does, he obviously has some technical skill, but the whole thing smells.
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG we can't possibly let him finish his words! He takes too long! We HAVE TO CUT TO COMMERCIALS IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! Why bother having him on the show if you're going to treat him like an imbecile.
Don't worry about it they are all just virtue signalling. The whole thing is full of errors no matter what angle you turn it. The main building is shapes are even wrong
In the interviewer's defense, she is already on a time constraint on a show like this, this is probably why she was rushing him with his sentences. But she is a noob, cause she should only have asked him yes/no questions to not risk offending people if she's rushing him through his sentences. DUH.
Damn that lady needs to go back to journalism school. WTF was that, let the man finish.
I don't care if someone has autism, can barely speak the same language as me, or has a incredibly bad stutter, I listen. And how disrespectful can you get cutting someone off like that.
ruclips.net/video/YlQIHEciRZI/видео.html - watch this 40+ minute video, they allow him to speek for a good while :)
I was thinking the same thing that was so disrespectful
Yeah very disrespectful
Stephen's work DOES match up!!! The photographs are from a different angle but if it would be the right angle it would perfectly match up!!!
He is more than amazing!
That was the rudest interviewer!
I’d have been very interested to hear the rest of what he had to say.
When a genius is speaking to you. You listen!! You might learn something. Terrible interview
Hes not a genious he just has a good memory, look up rain man
crazy foo
And you are not a good speller. Look up your words.
@@33markiss oh the irony.

That was pretty savage on him. Terrible interview.
Peter Taylor yea
The pictures they put for comparison to his drawing is from a different angle. If you don't see that, get your eyes checked up.
+Samuel Girmay finally, some1 has the same thinking like me, hha.. i mean u should see it from his perspective, not the pictures.

You can tell someone's IQ by the fact that they don't realize the differences are due to the different angles of the two pictures.
He is an amazing human being.

Stephen is a very special human being, one in a trillion. He has a beautiful mind, a truly beautiful mind. I would love to shake his hand one day.

That made lots of sense.
I mentally rotated his drawing in comparrison to the picture and the angles are different but i think that if you turn his drawing it's more identical
What an amazing person.
really extraordinary talent not everyone can praise God

this is awesome, plus the guy listens to oukast...says it all really
if u look at the two comparison carefully. it looks like the sketch is accurate, just from different angle.
its very beautiful
Wow , they should make a Movie about him
