Not a fan of unions but the company has been making bad decision after bad decision over the last twenty years. Yellows corporate board is seriously amateur hour. The union member have already given up 15%-20% of pay and benefits over the last fifteen years. Yellow is already the lowest paying in the industry even though the company claims otherwise. How much are the rank and file both management and union member supposed to give up. No contribution towards retirement fund. Senior leadership have tanked this company sadly to the detriment of the employees that have made it their career.
When you can go to the government and get a 700 million dollar bailout, why run the company good? Guess Biden wouldn't give them any more. Thought he was the most union friendly president ever.
No the union made many concessions to help yellow. The top layer keep giving large bonuses to the execs who needs 28 vp in a company. No one. Yellow top execs should have been fired a long time ago. I feel bad for all 44000 people.

The mismanagement is on a colosal scale.
I worked 10 years at Interstate Motor Freight in the Corporate office in Grand Rapids Michigan. In 1980s deregulation took them down and Chicago City Union wouldn’t agree to drop 15 %, resulting in bankruptcy. Then I worked in the Corporate office linehaul with Yellow for 30 years. Retired. Now union demands taking down another company. Unfortunately they will make not even half with a non union company. Union trucking is one of the few jobs where an individual could make more than someone with a masters degree. I hope O’Brien is having losing 30,000 jobs.
Who could have foreseen where "consolidation" might lead? ANSWER: anyone NOT obsessed with GREED!!! Despicable that workers and customers pay for incompetent management, YET AGAIN!!!
Yellow trucking needs fired ceo, board members try fix problems and us treasures should take over or $700 million dollars loses shut down. But it not fair for 30,000 workers with out job loses everything do poor leaderships from ceo to board members.
The Teamsters hold two seats on the board of directors since 2009 so the are just as much responsible for mismanagement over the past 13 years. And I guarantee you they didn't work for free.
That is great until they have to raise their rates to offset the wage increase and then someone undercuts with a company that’s hired cheap immigrants. The government will give the immigrants citizenship with the open borders and that company gets a big tax break for hiring the immigrants. They will be able to do the shipping cheaper and will take UPS’s business away and guess what the union drivers will be jobless just like the Yellow drivers. Who will be to blame the union’s company is already looking for investors it’s going to be called Non Union Express. The trucking industry is cut throat it can’t afford high wages, high fuel, high insurance, high interest rates, DOT regulations, the junk new trucks because of the EPA emissions regulations, and now in some states have to convert their trucks to electric. @jadams60 My understanding is that Yellow was trying to reorganize its three different dlvisions into one for efficiency but the Teamsters refused. Management made multiple mistakes as well, but you don't overplay your hand and kill the company.
lol, wrong cochise, yellow (actually Apollo Global Management) told yellow not to pay what it owes workers and the union said no pay no work. The "negotiation" since last sunday was merely to allow yellow time to get all the freight in the system out before court.
Yellow was operating at a loss sending 2 drivers from 2 of our companies to the same customer. They wanted to merge their subsidiary companies to one network to save money on pick ups, hotel/motels by getting most drivers home daily. Phase I (western part of the country) was approved by the union and completed. Phase II (YRC and Holland/ Midwest) was supposed to happen a YEAR ago but Sean O’Brien rejected it because they didn’t want the bottom seniority to have to work the dock at the end of their shift. The teamsters didn’t even let the union workers vote on phase II up until sometime within the last couple weeks.I know several drivers that didn’t mind the dock work they just wanted to keep their jobs. One Yellow would have made Yellow profitable again but it would have most likely needed to get an extension on the 700 mil loan to the gov. And yes Yellow had way too many executives and wasteful spending. Both parties are at fault for gambling with 30,000 peoples jobs and families. I know of several families where husband and wife both worked for the company up until today. It’s all just a very sad mess. I can’t even believe it.
Since they are currently under contract, "transfer of title and interest" will apply, meaning the new owners will be required to recognize the bargaining unit before the sale happens. This did not happen at Hostess because the contract had expired
I called it correct, they bought a little time to get the ducks in a row. Conned the drivers and union They are returning parts, fuel, whatever they can and get all the cash and move on to the next opportunity. I also think Sean O’Brien is on the take.
We all came to the same conclusion when they started buying those cheap volvo's in massive numbers. They weren't fit for the job, especially out here in the PNW, running the I-84 into boise in a truck with no fog lights, no manual gear control, no sliding 5th wheel, no diff lock.... I mean wtf. Unions rarely survive (without a bailout) in a hyperinflationary environment, and Yellow knows that, same thing happened in the late 70's, and inflation wasn't nearly as bad then, nothing needed to be imported from 5,000 mi. away like today, shipping everything from China will continue to drive prices on everything up 10x.

And by the way the golden boys who did that walked alway as millionaires. . As these guys will. I saw a short of Bill Zollers today giving advice to not take the first thing that comes along. How prophetic, pathetically since he was the engineer of this train wreck. They all walk away still with a million. I didn’t make bad decisions; I’m loyal. Where’s the equity in our society? All I did was my job every day. Now I’m the only one damaged?! Talk bad about the union and kiss my a**.

The mismanagement is on a colosal scale.
Evil unions are like evil HOA.
I had fun at yellow.. spent most my time in the restroom.. how do I get my union fees back
I am sorry nobody is not going to buy yellow, when they owe 700 million and also 25 million to the health care fund.
Thank God I have no debt!
My main goal is to completely be out of debt in 5 years 😂...
Watch and see there will be a non union trucking company take over Yellow and they have their mind made up to undercut and break UPS just remember NON UNION EXPRESS

Wonder if yellow will come back, but as a newr company without Teamster? There are a lot of drivers looking for work. ( Non union and union).
