My father, and many other thousands of people were told that TODAY was their last day. I hope everyone who's going to try and find a job has luck in this industry...I'm so sorry to everyone for this. I'm not a worker, in fact, I'm a 19 year old college student....but I felt the blow of this harder than anyone my age. My dad's 27 year career is over with this company and there's nothing he can do. Just another example of hard working Americans getting screwed over....

I'm a 26 year employee city driver for Holland in Chicago. We gave up much to save this company, and in the end, it didn't work. They have mismanaged this company for as long as I can remember. I just want it to end so I can figure out my last 10 years to work. I'm disgusted with how this ended, but I have to drive on.. if anyone knows of LTL companies looking for help, I will be at the front filling out an application

Here at my terminal ops is a snake and is trying to take down the TM because they aren’t promoting him so he feeds the TM bs not only that he is a lazy narcissistic ahole and the only reason he made it to ops is because he was a d sucker and threw all fellow supervisors under the bus when he didn’t do anything they didn’t do lol promoting people here at my terminal atleast is based on being a snake and being as lazy as possible. The TM on the other hand has never even been in the industry doesn’t know what’s going on and is fed bad info by the ops who is supposed to be training him it’s truly sad.

Not a fan of unions but the company has been making bad decision after bad decision over the last twenty years. Yellows corporate board is seriously amateur hour. The union member have already given up 15%-20% of pay and benefits over the last fifteen years. Yellow is already the lowest paying in the industry even though the company claims otherwise. How much are the rank and file both management and union member supposed to give up. No contribution towards retirement fund. Senior leadership have tanked this company sadly to the detriment of the employees that have made it their career.

That is great until they have to raise their rates to offset the wage increase and then someone undercuts with a company that’s hired cheap immigrants. The government will give the immigrants citizenship with the open borders and that company gets a big tax break for hiring the immigrants. They will be able to do the shipping cheaper and will take UPS’s business away and guess what the union drivers will be jobless just like the Yellow drivers. Who will be to blame the union’s company is already looking for investors it’s going to be called Non Union Express. The trucking industry is cut throat it can’t afford high wages, high fuel, high insurance, high interest rates, DOT regulations, the junk new trucks because of the EPA emissions regulations, and now in some states have to convert their trucks to electric. Watch and see there will be a non union trucking company take over Yellow and they have their mind made up to undercut and break UPS just remember NON UNION EXPRESS

Lastly, Teamsters APPROVED the One Yellow merger of our separate companies to improve efficiency..yet decided to oppose it halfway through to protest contact work rules. Caused doublt with our customers. This final action ultimately killed us. I hope O'Brien and Zuckerman are happy for all of us now out of work. Yellow was operating at a loss sending 2 drivers from 2 of our companies to the same customer. They wanted to merge their subsidiary companies to one network to save money on pick ups, hotel/motels by getting most drivers home daily. Phase I (western part of the country) was approved by the union and completed. Phase II (YRC and Holland/ Midwest) was supposed to happen a YEAR ago but Sean O’Brien rejected it because they didn’t want the bottom seniority to have to work the dock at the end of their shift. The teamsters didn’t even let the union workers vote on phase II up until sometime within the last couple weeks.I know several drivers that didn’t mind the dock work they just wanted to keep their jobs. One Yellow would have made Yellow profitable again but it would have most likely needed to get an extension on the 700 mil loan to the gov. And yes Yellow had way too many executives and wasteful spending. Both parties are at fault for gambling with 30,000 peoples jobs and families. I know of several families where husband and wife both worked for the company up until today. It’s all just a very sad mess. I can’t even believe it.
