She is from Ukraine, so she knows how life is under the old KGB having come to America in 2000 and earning her citizenship in 2006. So when she goes after Director Wray for running a federal agency that is behaving like the KGB, she knows exactly what she is talking about.
She was 13 years old when KGB was dissolved in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR. I highly doubt she, as a little girl in Ukraine, was opposed by the KGB. Especially considering the KGB was a hollow shell of itself even as far back as late 1970's.
