Hi I have a Coxwell and Harrison sidewalk ejector he’s the opener 1894. I absolutely love it. Cost me £350. No one seem to want these old guns anymore.
Totally agree with your statement on loosing the British heritage of gun making. I’m currently restoring a nice hammer gun made by Frederick Gates of Derby.
Loved the hammer gun. I don't own a proper English SXS, I am looking at a 20-bore hammer gun. As for bismuth I load my own for my L C Smith and Parker SXS.
I don't have an English one, but I do have a very inexpensive Spanish non ejector boxlock. It's good fun on the clays or reasonably informal days in the field. I may well have it on peg with me this next season if my friend and I secure a day at a place he knows. Could easily take my new Beretta, but the place is coastal and the salty air damaged the finish on my brand new Benelli last time we went.
Hi Roy, love the video, agree with you completely. Have you tried bioammo blue cartridges? I have used my two 20's Greeners with the for several years and have been really impressed (and they are massively cheaper than Bismuth).
Even the BioAmmo Blue range will work on one of those beautiful guns. And it can be used with a full choke. And I think there is a special alloy called Hortonium that will likely be the best replacement for lead. But with the E.U. Election anything is possible. They might not even ban lead, depending on the political majorities. I know that in the U.K. things are now quite different. But you got some excelent gun and ammunition makers that are taking a step forward to create alloys that may give a bright future to those classic beautiful guns. Another thing, what is your opinion on French shotguns, namely those made by Manufrance?
I agree. Unfortunately hunting is a dying sport, even here in the USA. And a 6lb SxS isn’t ideal on the range. But they are fabulous firearms none the less and I’m happy to have been able to pick one up fairly recently. Having been an ex British export myself some 200 years ago, I’ll look after it’s heritage 👍🏼
Patriotism, as demonstrated in this video, seems to be fading. We should be proud of our heritages, innovations and accomplishments.
lol thanks for sending your heritage outside the country!

Absolutely cracking video 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Can't beat an old tyre level as one of my keeper friends said
Love the videos, just wondering what glasses you have on. They look really smart.
Thank you, they are Hugo Boss from specsavers!😊
Eley make a true 21/2 inch steel cartridge that can be shot in any barrel apart from Damascus. Must be less than half choke though

There is nothing to touch the feel of an English gun.provisional maker or best.
