Wardy is legend !!! Seeing him on the amazing kx 500 while using a milk crate at starts so he could touch the ground will never leave my mind. He railed that 500 like no one else did he was amazing on the 250 but was even better on the big bore!! His entire career was on one brand of bike very! few can say that....

Remember when your " legend" hid behind the Anaheim peristyles sandbagging so he could get a first row start in the main ? Or how about his constant rude disrespectful behaviour towards his fans ?
      Yeah.. Some " legend "

@@ethics3 Never meet your hero... Yes I know all the stories and lets face it he was riding the number two factory bike. Honda rained supreme back in the day.
Yet he won championships numerous ones. One of the only factory riders who ended his career on one brand.. Loyalty and commitment is what I respect.
Was he an ass perhaps but you should judge a profession. Like Tom Cruise yea he is crazy but he is a good actor...
He did what he had to do and yes he had lots of haters....

@@MrSnapy1 Its always ... disturbing when one man worships another blinding yourself to any and all wrongs and as well to their character flaws.
When i raced ( 1982 - 1984 ) i never worshiped any of the top local riders. Why ? To do so would make me nothing more than , to use todays term , a bitch .
My first racei knew next to nothing . I had work boots and a short sleeve t shirt. so they told me i had to wear my jean jacket. I finished 10 th that race and after that never lower than 5 th finishing 3 rd overall in 125 jr . I was on an 81 yz 125 H because we couldnt afford the much faster 82 model . The next season i received discounts and assistance from a local Honda shop who was impressed with my riding . So on an 83 cr 125 in the intermediate class i was the first to reach the required 200 points by 2/3 through that season. That meant i had to immediately enter the expert class . Never once did i worship these fast guys because if i was kissing their asses , that's all i would be doing ... always behind them . It was around this time that " groupees" would come by my pits . I was polite found very quickly these ... " individuals" would quickly gravitate to whom ever was on top that particular day... Rather sickening people .
So starting at 0 points 2/3 through that season i managed to catch up to 5 th overall expert 125 by seasons end . I won about half my races and placed 2 nd in the rest.
My last season i bought an 84 honda CR 500 . Because of my standing the season before i was entitled to a certain deal on the CR and 50 % off on parts , clothing . The dealer tried to weltch on it , so i told him to go to hell , quickly removing his shop mane from my new bike and clothing . I went to another honda shop and just asked for parts at cost , and i would increase their motocross bike sales by 300 % .
You see. The first guy didn't think i would win on the big 500 .. There were only a few on the circuit so they threw us in the 250 expert class. Our tracks were technical and tight so 250's always had faster lap times. I myself could go faster on a 250 but i had something to prove . The first shop even put a price on my head to his other riders, haha
It didnt matter as I won most of the races that season riding the 500 like a 250 .
I did one race that season against a full field of 500s at an ama event in new york winning my class easily... After that my heath went bad as I had been forced to work in my dads auto body repair shop.... lung congestion set in and my cardio suffered. I had intended to ride the 85 season on the same bike but when spring time came and i went out running, i started coughing up blood .. I walked the last 2 miles home and listed the bike for sale ....
The whole point of this , if you made it down this far , is if you worship someone else , you will NEVER EVER surpass that person .You will forever be relegated to the level of , lets say , a worm ... About 15 years later i gave scrambles a try and enjoyed it later winning a national junior Canadian title first year on that circuit beating a lot of experts even though we started 2 minutes behind them. Due to finances i didn't proceed any farther... that and i wanted to concentrate on building my 3 rd house . I did however take some time to teach riding techniques to aspiring scrambles / enduro riders and the very first thing i taught them was NEVER put the guys winning on pedestals because they will prevent you from ever beating them . I told my students , he has 2 hands and you have 2 hands so what's the difference..? Training? Sure but with the correct technique you expend a lot less energy in long events . Anyways , I hope you got something from this.
And by the way. Ward started on modified XR 75"s
      Cheers
Ps. I was always friendly to my fans and fellow competitors

@@ethics3 Who said anything about worship. I think your more a hater of Wardy than I am a fan...
He played spoiler to team Honda dominance for a decade that was good enough for me...
All the top riders was egotistical sociopaths at that time.

@@MrSnapy1 You are the true definition of an ass kissing worshiper bud. Pitiful .
Its not surprising you didn't glean anything from my words .
Also , you must be a liberal to " label " me as a hater just because i have morals and values .
Its actually beyond cringe to listen you your hero worship of Ward.
      Cheers
