[Intro] Pound my knuckles hard against the floor My head against the wall But I did this to myself Assume it's just not worth getting back up So I'll blame it on bad luck And I'll shake responsibility, yeah [Verse 1] I spent some time in a bad place at 18 Wishing I could see something through clear eyes Do you ever wake up to realize That your life is meaningless? Does it give you strength or lead you to Your grave at a young age? [Chorus] Pound my knuckles hard against the floor My head against the wall But I did this to myself Assume it's just not worth getting back up So I'll blame it on bad luck And I'll shake responsibility, yeah [Verse 2] It seems that when I ran away from my past All my dignity, my faith, my pride got left back And now I think it's time that I realize Self pity's meaningless Though I'm 10 feet deep I'll claw my way back out from in my grave [Chorus] Pound my knuckles hard against the floor My head against the wall But I did this to myself Assume it's just not worth getting back up So I'll blame it on bad luck And I'll shake responsibility And say a hard life did this to me [Bridge] Now I realize, I'd give anything I have To walk a day in my old shoes Wondering what my first smoke would be like My first fuck, my next fuck up {Or} the next band that would change my life And it changed my life And it changed my life [Chorus] Pound my knuckles hard against the floor My head against the wall But I did this to myself Assume it's just not worth getting back up So I'll blame it on bad luck And I'll shake responsibility And say a hard life did this to me
I'll tell you this. Hearing this as a "troubled" minority in my younger years hoping I wouldn't become a statistic only to become one really hits deep. I love it. Hopefully there are other "minorities" who listened to this and when heard the chorus cringed at the thought of going to jail, fucking up etc., etc. I'm sure white people have thought the same but for a minority it's a little different knowing the majority of the people who listen to "Emo" or the majority of the bands (Aside from Blocparty? and TV on the Radio who are arguably more Indie than Emo) are white. So There's That!
All this race crap is garbage. All colors suck. Thank god I'm colorblind...Oh, and I hate to break it to ya, but you are a statistic, because you talk like a freakin' robot......so there's that! \m/ >.< \m/
I'd like my name to be Adrian Andre, cause it is... i was always the black sheep of my family. Jail 6 times, drugs, addiction, angsty teenager with depression and lashed out because of how broken i felt.
white people are always so uncomfortable when race is brought up. its hilarious, proves OP right about the alienation, and shows how out of touch you are.
Bayside are by far one of the most underated bands of all time music and lyrics are outstanding. My favourite band for around 16 years now 🤘
Loved this band in high school, coming back at 29 and really have a different view on their music and lyrics speak differently now it's cool
Yeah, another underated band is FAR
I've tried to listen to them because they're one of my wife's favorite bands, vocalist just gets on my nerves lol.
@@ili-samiam-ili3515 he is a bit nasally but those lyrics are some of the best ever!!
This song gets randomly stuck in my head.
God I love the tightness of the band players mixed with an amazing underrated voice brings this music into tomorrow with ease!
The drummer is on point.
This song still slaps
I LOVE this song so much!! I used to listen to it all the time when I was 18 :O
2024 and you just bought me back to life
Thank you bayside
Saw them preform this At warped tour on the 18th. They were amazing.
[Intro]
Pound my knuckles hard against the floor
My head against the wall
But I did this to myself
Assume it's just not worth getting back up
So I'll blame it on bad luck
And I'll shake responsibility, yeah
[Verse 1]
I spent some time in a bad place at 18
Wishing I could see something through clear eyes
Do you ever wake up to realize
That your life is meaningless?
Does it give you strength or lead you to
Your grave at a young age?
[Chorus]
Pound my knuckles hard against the floor
My head against the wall
But I did this to myself
Assume it's just not worth getting back up
So I'll blame it on bad luck
And I'll shake responsibility, yeah
[Verse 2]
It seems that when I ran away from my past
All my dignity, my faith, my pride got left back
And now I think it's time that I realize
Self pity's meaningless
Though I'm 10 feet deep
I'll claw my way back out from in my grave
[Chorus]
Pound my knuckles hard against the floor
My head against the wall
But I did this to myself
Assume it's just not worth getting back up
So I'll blame it on bad luck
And I'll shake responsibility
And say a hard life did this to me
[Bridge]
Now I realize, I'd give anything I have
To walk a day in my old shoes
Wondering what my first smoke would be like
My first fuck, my next fuck up
{Or} the next band that would change my life
And it changed my life
And it changed my life
[Chorus]
Pound my knuckles hard against the floor
My head against the wall
But I did this to myself
Assume it's just not worth getting back up
So I'll blame it on bad luck
And I'll shake responsibility
And say a hard life did this to me
Just came back out of nostalgia.. This album is easily top 5 for me
2019...still relatable....
20 years of bad luck tour hype!
hell of a lot of silence at the end...
Time stamp?

Maybe my favorite Bayside song.
Does it give you strength or lead you to your grave at a young age? That shit is real life.

Oh, and your grammar sucks, so you're another minority statistic there as well...Wow, you're on a roll adrian andre, cause it is...
I'd like my name to be Adrian Andre, cause it is... i was always the black sheep of my family. Jail 6 times, drugs, addiction, angsty teenager with depression and lashed out because of how broken i felt.
when someone tries to racialize rock music and ur just sitting there sucking ur teeth
white people are always so uncomfortable when race is brought up. its hilarious, proves OP right about the alienation, and shows how out of touch you are.
Can't blame mine on bad luck
