The infrastructure worked for 60years with no issues. If your excuse is for 16000 and now 72000 than why did you not improve the infrastructure accordingly.
Absolutely. We have taps, toilets and 💩 running down the street.
While people wait to be connected to get water?
Don't bother with these clowns because you will only get brain freez
If you listen carefully, Dr Saul just the connection of previously disadvantageous groups is what is causing this issue, which means there are nuisances, and one wonders why the sewer system isn't larger enough to meet the demands, just as the ANC prides itself on connecting people to the grid but does not build more power plants at Eskom. You build more infrastructure with more users, so you see the guy has at least nine cars parked in the yard. If you asked him, he would probably tell you that the number of drivers in his household increased, so he has more cars, but he doesn't apply the same logic to public service delivery.
The infrastructure worked for 60 years, but you failed to mention that it really did only work for 10% of the population.
Our post-1994 democracy is about integrating the other 90% of South Africans, that have previously been violently disenfranchised.
Leaders in Kimberley and the broader Northern Cape enjoy the unique privilege of very little scrutiny from national media, and they get very comfortable.
Please do more work in the region, John Block is one of many.
The people deserve it.
I have just one advice for these people .... VOTE THE ANC OUT! Simple as that.
ANC will be out on the 28 of May 2024 its the end of the 6th administration. They can only be voted in for the 7th admin
Who should the people vote in? If not ANC
@@NinohBrown We will see with the IQ test on the 28th of May
This premier is not a leader's backside. The ANC is run this country into the ground. If they stay in power without making provision for the future it is a typical African mindset. If it works keep it running into the ground. ESCOME was the same. I worked in Africa for several years, DRC in Kalemie railway was working fine in 1960's after independence it is non functional....
@@NinohBrown EFF
I can see that I don’t care attitude on the premier
The grip this Premier had on this interview....He handled it well and he kept his control over Govan.
The fact that he is making reference to 1994 is absolutely embarrassing......They've being in office for a full 30 years yet he still refers to pre 1994 infrastructure, this is disgusting 🤮🤮🤮
That is precisely where the questioner could have been better prepared
It doesn't add up but atleast there is lot to learn if you can read between the line
“Then I have a fundamental problem with your thinking” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Govan wasn’t prepared for this
This is the first guy I think who deserves leadership he answered and was ready for these folks
Very mature calm answers he ends up having the interviewer agreeing with him 😂😂😂😂
What has the ANC government done since 1994?
Fokall.. the proofs in the pudding
You should have improved the place. You had 30 years
Lined back pockets.
Just lies and buying cars and suits and conning the poor people
Changing town names and buying expensive car will really help the people of this country. What more should the cANCer do? Apartheid did not teach them what to do?

@@veronicakarstel9126disgusting 🤢 they lie and blame apartheid all the time
The Premier is evasive and jokingly at the same time, while people are waiting for service . They should have said to people the won't meet they demand but give them statistic towards the elections
Useless ANC Disgusting!!!!
A so-called civil servant is transported, together with armed guards, in a luxurious Audi Q8 which costs at least R1.8m. A huge scam.
Not a Q8 but point taken.
in european countries the politicians take public transport. the netherlands prime minister rides a bicycle to work
@@user-wd8po2nf5y it is a Q8 btw
Actually Dr Saul in particular insisted on not having blue light brigade. Let's be objective in our analysis everyone. We don't have to like the ANC, but let's be objective with our analysis.
Dr Saul stayes in a township and rejected blue lights. And thats not a Q8. Let's be honest.
It’s been 4 years since I’ve been in Kimberley, there has been no change whatsoever about the sewage. It stinks
How can you link 72 000 conections to a line designed for 16 000 conections. Logic dictates first enlarge the line.
Let's start there
😆😆
30% for matric, cant do basic maths
Logic and ANC do not mix
What's alarming is that we still rely on infrastructure constructed in 1947 lol... what have they been doing to improve it since then. Pathetic
Govan's debate performance was lacking, but as viewers, we're growing tired of the ANC's excuses, so we'll overlook it. The premier made valid points, but they seemed to arise from the poor line of questioning and lack of preparation, which overshadowed his arguments. It's clear the team needs to step up. The real problem lies in the government's tendency to fund ideas without proper planning. Prioritising ideas solely for voter appeal is irresponsible. It's time for more responsible governance centered on thorough planning and thoughtful decision-making. NHI is the next thing to suffer from this
He was being addressed as a resident to give his opinion on what he is experiencing.
Instead he went on the defensive about a municipality being scapegoated for a "narrative". A municipality he is a resident of! And 1 he must be at the bare minimum, expected to hold accountable!
This not on the team
Lacking is an understatement, it was weak!
Indeed Govan did this interview injustice, he was bamboozelled which is a shame because the premier was there for the picking/taking.
He spoke over him most of the time, never really gave him a chance and the Premier was so defensive and focused on making excuses and making it a race problem that he actually avoided answering the actual questions being asked. It's so old, these people need to go, they haven't a clue
Gave us time to look at the primer wealth of luxury cars that was in the background. Money going to his pocket instead of problems that needs to be sorted out
Great work Carte Blanche 🎉..these guys need to be showed to the world
He is trying to be defensive 😢
Mhmmmmm
The Mayor knows his story 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂
So 30 years wasn't enough to address the issues that arose with connecting the previously disconnected households to the network. Now that you are aware of the issue, how many more years do you need?
And how much more budget?
You heard the man, it can take even 500 years.
500 years
Think he waa clear... need another 500 years
Look at all his cars behind him, that's nothing to be proud about!!
Pure greed and corruption! Just plain evil!
Well played Govan!
Listen up kids, this is an educational gem of how many times can you say the same thing but differently, while avoiding any question thrown at you
The argument that Eskom is struggling because there are more people connected is a joke.. Eskom in 92 made more electricity than it does now so? 🤷🏻♂️
stunted brain growths, no protein so brain cells didnt grow. 27% of SA kids have stunted brain growth syndrome. No ANC schools for these stunted growth kids, so no future for them, just another useless eater.
Hi Travis, don’t take this the wrong way. Go and read between page 40 and 52 of the Eskom white paper. You might look at things from a different perspective. Here’s another example, if you plug all your household appliances on one plug, extensions, chargers etc, what’s gonna happen? Isn’t it gonna overheat? I mean simple physics talks about such things and how current flows. Different wire thicknesses, length etc. Easy to understand. The infrastructure should’ve been upgraded a long time ago had many of the recommendations been implemented. In our neighbourhoods, one pole had 4 wires to four houses for example. People, because they know better, went on to connect 11 more cables because there are backrooms etc. Back to that plug example… aren’t we overloading the transformer? I think it’s simple according to me.
If I don’t service my 2nd hand car I’ll just blame it on the previous owner. Thanks for the tip. 👍🇿🇦
Haha basically 😂
What a chop.... read from the script.... just read from the script.... Also, remember to completely dodge the question
The main issue is that if you had the right people running the treatment system, they would have pointed out that you need to increase the capacity. The fact that no one said anything means that those people are not doing their job. And if they are not doing their job, they should not be there. Get the right people to do the right thing. Please do the right thing so we can all have the right environment. Yes, we appreciate that the "previously disadvantage" were connected to the system. But we must not after 20 years of connecting them and having a system that is disintegrating make them an excuse for not doing our job.
Who are the right people Sir? Old white men that ran the system in 80's? Same narrative that was pushed on Eskom. Municipalities employ competent Engineers, Artisans, Managers, etc. Perhaps you should spend a day in the maintenance department to see if everyone goes to work to sleep. Equip yourself with the right information before you reach your conclusion.
Shifting blame game again...
Is he speaking facts though?
@@cheesecakecartel5022
He speaks twaddle and no action.
What not upgrading infrastructure... building&building more homes connected to lines knowing its a strain on the system and it can't maintain it,& still not upgrading absolute necessity infrastructure first to maintain it all before building more homes.. so in his case it's a "oh well" it has nowhere to go reservoirs to small blablaa, so for now it's off run whenever it lands.

What do you think?
Shifting of blame is amazing in the country
So, why hasnt the ANC done something about it, they have had 30 years.
Because they need 500 more years

Dr Zamani Saul mumbling over ... more lies
This man speaks of the access increase as if it happened overnight. This took 30 years to put in place and there was no capacity increase on the network to cater for these connections.
72000 on 16000, 30 years later. Sol Plaatjie has been stolen bankrupt 😢
Question is why must the ANC government build houses without a sewage system. They've connected the sanitary system on the old system. Such a useless public servant that is full of excuses. The ANC has embarrassed us black people.
The Premier is not in touch. Is in denial. Is forgetful, cares about his suit. Leave him.
how do you say he is out of touch when he actually lives in the affected area
@@simbalion84801because the least he can do is make sure the darned municipality is held accountable! It's not that difficult to understand
Grew up there. Kimberley used to be a beautiful city and historic one too. The ANC has single-handedly run this city into the ground. They needed no help.
Check the luxury cars
When he came to office he claimed he is not going to use the budget for the premiers fleet.
But I see he is rolling high with German cars

I like that the premier greeted the whole crew
Why was the bulk network not upgraded as part of the development?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂not the premier saying "then I got a fundamental problem with your thinking" yohhhh 😂😂😂😂😂
The outgoing party, the AnC sold us this guy Zamani as this noble man who has never stolen a cent, it turns out he has never done any work either, he just speaks well. My fellow South Africans give Gayton McKenzie a chance if you want all these issues fixed.
what has gayton done for the people of Knysna? sewage in the streets too!
The downfall of infrastructure is mainly because unqualified people are appointed, in municipalities former teachers are appointed as technical managers responsible for infrastructure development, amongst other departments. Thats why everything is collapsing, this country is where it is because ANC appoints unqualified people.
Premier, howzit? Govan 😂
Moet nie witvoet soek nie

He is just giving excuses? They have governed long enough to have realised that there is an increased demand.

My hometown! Last time I was in Kimberley I remember having to drive zigzag in Hill Crest and the entire city’s potholes have roads. I see ZERO infrastructure development and it’s become a ghost town 😢
So their was no planning in RDP. The Anc could not plan and still cant plan. Simply no ability to plan. I feel ashamed for this minister.. he is so proud of achievements....
R30million for a kilometre of road... Jrrrrr!!
Give that money to Orania, they will build a City, 2 Universities, and Buy 10000 hecters of Land for R3 million from the ANC - 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is what happens when you consistently give your vote to the ANC. For 30 years! I have no pity. You get what you vote for. In this case, gross incompetence and systemic corruption.
Basically what Dr Saul is trying to say here is for 30 years the provincial government had failed to solved the sewage problem though even close to his house the is a sewage bust🤦♂️
Another example of the absolute nothing that the ANC is doing.
default to 1994 ... pathetic
R30 million for a kilometre of road is insane!
Tenders, tenders, tenders!
looking at his cars, it is important where ANC priorities are. as one cadre said: "we didn't join the struggle to be poor"
Actually 30 million is very economical for a 1km dual carriage road

ANC is the most frustrated and confused Organization I've never seen.
How many more years can the ANC use the old slogan, when in doubt blame apartheid.
What does Govan mean that over depence should be at Galeshewe and not Hillcrest 🤔🤔🤔 when we mean equal equal access we mean exactly that
Though not happy with their work. Well handled by the Premier....your purported ambush turned out to be the least desirable.
He is a professional politician, these people really just defeat me
When he became the premier I used to admire him as a leader...
Now he has become like the rest in his organization.
Is the ANC freely supplying their employees with Psychedelics? It's like they are living in their own created reality where they are heroes. Shocking... 🤔
They should have fixed problem by now, 30 years is a long period.
5 thousand units, 1 billion budget now they just playing with the people
We all know it's not gonna happen all that money is going to get looted the ANC know they should not be in power that is why they will steal as long as you vote for them. The Eff couldn't build 1 school in Alexandria in 5 years yet in the western cape they putting up schools faster than the anc can build rdp houses
I think let's give other political parties an opportunity, and then let us be as vigilant with them as we are with the ANC. Let's see what their performance is.
i follow carte blanche for 7 years now. this Dr Zamani Saul is right. Municipal must answer
He is simply saying the ANC failed dismally.
I don't like service delivery but Govan was out debated here.
I share the same sentiments. He was not ready for this one to be honest.
A rare incident where an ANC member was successfully defensive. 😂😂😂
Allot of cars for a premiere.
30 years was [not] enough to connect 72,000 to the system that was meant 16,000 in 1947? why was this not upgraded in all the 30 years?
Its poor planning. Simple.
There is always an excuse before a solution. Leaders find solutions and implement them, not find excuses.
All he did was give excuses, we need to choose leaders better.
So when they build houses there was no proper planning to avoid this sewer problem this is crazy
A true politician at heart evasive answering, ignoring the questions and giving unnecessary stories without giving people a chance to respond.
Yo.... The Premier is mopping the floor with the journalist....
30 years of ANC corruption. Please vote for competent leaders South Africa.
He claims he doesn't know about the sewerage running across the street, but then denies he drives in the opposite direction. Yep, sounds like a real genius this one. People deserve what they vote for.
It must be great to live life in such denial without any accountability
Welcome to the MK fellow premier, sign from kwa mzet to kwa magagula. We going up in I log yoku jabula. A cabinet only Obaba would love.
That's the Anc for you, he said could even take another 500 years before they fix the problem 😅
And their brainwashed supporters see nothing wrong with that, happy to live backwards for another 500 years…..
It's funny how the premiers cars and houses were so quickly upgraded from 94 to now 😂😂 new cars new homes new suites but for the people it's difficult to transition
Credit to the minister for answering and engaging. It’s better to look bad & fall on your sword than to run away like a coward.
The prime minister handled the narrative very well.
