Thanks @lizregan1949! You are very kind. I hope you have a great day! If you don't mind, would you please share this video with your friends on social media? That would be AWESOME!! Thanks for liking and sharing our videos. Hope you have a really great day and keeps:)ing!
Not to be too nit picky but. It is supper important to have a pitch on the condensate tube. My mini split had pitch but biologicals grow in pipe. Supper important to keep clean. Wet vac works great to clear and now using condensate pan tablets to minimize growth.
Looks like a professional did that. Great job. Now i get to go find the A/C unit install video to learn what makes it an off-grid unit other than running everything from the solar panels.
Awesome Work EVERYONE....you all just keep rocking it. Your place has come so far since the beginning....LOVE IT. Best wishes J Family. Oh and We Love our Mister Cool Mini Split as well.....WORKS AWESOME. =)

Hey Marty, I've used this method, and it has worked... heat up the end of a metal hanger and stick in either end of the spray foam tube. Blessings, MObe
Catch the condensed water in a bottle. Useful for topping up lead-acid batteries and for filling your windscreen washer bottle, which needs really clean water to avoid blocking the jets.
Great work, but can be improved: 1. extend condensate hose so it won't drip from such height 2. insulate remaining pipes all the way to the ac outdoor unit.

Didn't we already do one of these? It is cool and everyone should replace their existing system(s) with a series for larger homes. Mr. Cool is way more green than traditional and it can heat which is also cool. I just wish we could shorten the line per installation, but that would require a professional.
Great video as always. Watching from Europe where the only thing on a house made out of wood are the trusses for the roof! You have way more options for adjusting after the walls are built etc... What about running all the AC piping inside the wall prior to putting the plaster wall inside? So you don't have to deal with these rails for hiding the lines? Or is that not code?
If you do it while the house is being built, you can run the pipes up the wall and across the rafters in the attic then drop down and pop out where ever you need. But... In this case, the walls were already up so he would have had to rip out the walls to his the pipes behind them. This is the way most contractors would have installed an after-market A/C unit.
Nice & cold for summer, but do you have enough solar for heating in winter. Less sun available. snow covering panels & battery storage. Great for summer but iffy in winter.
They probably won't plan to rely entirely on solar for winter heat, but it will be adequate for early spring and late fall and will decrease demand for the primary heat source. I have panels that have cut my annual propane usage in half.
Marty: amaetur question here, with screws holding the plastic firmly against the siding, how will the allowances for expansion, actually expand? Thanks.
lol avoiding the sun. I do that too when I'm working Pest Control doing foundation treatment. At least you don't have to walk around in 108 degree temps. I had to treat a Dock once on Lake Austin and it was a quarter of a mile down some steps with no shade while it's 108 outside. I had to walk back up too. Almost died.
Mr Cool units are great, but pricey. I installed some Mitsubishi units on my cabins and had an A/C guy charge them for not that much. Love the install though, looks like it belongs..😂 Love ya'll ❤️
I'm assuming you put the AC condenser unit up high due to potential snow accumulation under the deck, but do you need it to be THAT high. The reason I ask is given the amount of piping you had, you may not have had to put the kink in it if you put the condenser unit lower. Also it's easy enough to simply shovel the snow from around it if it got up as high as say 2-3 ft. I hope your mollybolt fasteners work over time. I understand your thought process, but I doubt Mr. Cool instructions allowed for that installation method. Why didn't you locate the studs and put at least two screws into studs? You could have easily figured this out from the INSIDE perhaps (yes it would have taken a few holes drilled and some light repair work on the drywall). I'm the type of guy that overdoes that type of stuff as I would hate to have the unit fall to the ground and cause a bunch of damage. Otherwise I liked the video and I bet if you contact Mr. Cool they will probably give you a sponsor fee anyway. Perhaps you could have talked a little more about the electrical wiring performed even though it is very easy from other videos I've watched related to Mr. Cool installations.
There is nothing "off grid" when you need so much tech to repair / fix /buy again, and really... AC? Do I really need to explain that the VAST majority of the world is NOT using AC at all? (yes, including in hot countries). I woould have been more impressed with a tour to tips and techniques to keep cool when it's hot outside (without the need for AC)
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving That's exactly what I meant. You're just producing your own electricity... as long as everything goes well in other places. Any kind of rupture of normality beyond a "normal" (usage of quotes as it still amazes many non-US people to see how frequent disruption in the grid are ion the US) temporary grid down scenario will not have you enjoy those equipments for very long if you can't repair or replace. And my point still stands on AC. The vast majority of the world is doing without just fine
@@meptalon I guess u didn't understand him they are not getting power from the grid if the a.c. unit fails they need assistance to repair it but their power comes from the sun and their own equipment the u.s. power grid could fail for the whole summer and they will have a.c. unless the sun stops chiming

I noticed that too.
Ditto that! When it starts dripping out the front you have a bit of a pitch issue.
We bought a Mrcool air conditioner last year, and I have a feeling you will love it. One nice thing about Mrcool it runs very quiet.
Looks like a professional did that. Great job.
Now i get to go find the A/C unit install video to learn what makes it an off-grid unit other than running everything from the solar panels.
Put the lineset through a length of PVC pipe in the hole in the deck to act as a grommet to prevent abrasion damage.
I would like to make a suggestion, put a lighting surge protector on the disconnect box. They run about $65. The one I use is Intermatic AG3000 .

Mini-splits are super easy and very efficient. Luv 'em. There are a lot of excellent videos for installation. Don't be intimidated.
So true. Basically anyone with a little handyness to them can do it.
Winner!
Great video good to see y'all
Nice job y'all
Well done.

What episode was it where you guys went over the books that helped you build your house?
Marty, just a small safety issue. Why would you use a 30amp breaker on a 2.8amp draw? You might want to lower the amperage on that breaker. Take care.
To save on AC. Cover a window facing sun with a thermal heatshield. It saved me 30 %on my AC

Isn't it an Inverter System? Both heat and air conditioning.
Yes it is both heat and cool. It runs on 240vac.
I believe he may have used brake clean that's what I always use to clean foam tubes it doesn't have the oil base like carb cleaner does
I'll have to try it.

Oh, brother where art thou.....
Why wouldn't you want th section over the window to slant down rather than be horizontal in order to help in draining the condensate?
Inside the cover it is sloped down.
It will not be vibrating in A/C mode, but will also be vibrating on heat mode all winter since it is a heat pump.😊

If Sarah is doing all that computer work she needs dual 27” screens off a dock station!😂😵💫
I agree. Maybe she will get one. Would probably be way more efficient.

I have a question we’re can I find a safety sally doll
Honestly, Jules was not hampered by the drift wood while you were away!

True. If it is the right electricity.
Thumbs down because of music while speaking!

Off grid means not connected to the power grid. When the power goes off in our region during a storm we still have power. Why? We are off grid.
