Thank you for your excellent teaching I’m 92 years old and learned something new 😊
You are so welcome!
triplets, twins and mother's left leg/right leg.... but I understood it all lol thankyou for this great tutorial!!!
OMG! That is the best explanation and memory aid I have ever seen for the Shadow Wrap heel.
Wow, thank you!
This is bar none the best explanation I’ve seen of Shadow Wrap heel! So simply explained ❤
Thank you so much
Thank you so much Janna, this is the best demo I’ve seen!
I just love the description of twins, mother stitch & triplets……makes it easy to understand 😆
This is the best heel. No counting, no gaps and so neat. I've just used it for the first time. I find it hard to believe I'll use another. Thanks so much🥰
I found the way you hold your yarn interesting. I’m 73 and learned to knit as soon as I could hold the needles. You hold your yarn and handle it like I do which was always a source of amusement to my mom. Apparently one of my aunts used to do it the same way but she was blind by the time I was born so I didn’t learn it from her. I used to use circular needles to knit sweaters. Can’t imagine making socks on one.
Wat een mooie stevige hiel. Heel hartelijk dank voor het patroon👍👍
I have been knitting this for some years now and love it, perfectly easy and looking pro.
I just had to pop in to thank you. I found your video a little while ago and enjoyed it. I have finally got in gear and made a pair of socks using the shadow wrap heel. Thank you for the video, it was incredibly helpful. Your instructions and video were clear and easy to follow.
I made these socks to give to a gentleman who owns a woodland and makes the most amazing bowls and things. I asked if he could make me a yarn bowl and he had no idea what they were so I sent him pics of various styles. He made me one and he had such fun doing it he gave it to me for free as it gave him a new line of things to make and sell. It was kind of him to do and as a thank you, he now has a pair of warm woollen socks to work in the woods or the out building. A win/win all the way around I think. So thank you again!
I decided to make a friend of mine (who also has large feet like I do) a pair of socks for her birthday. The heel instructions in the pattern made the tiniest heel turn I've ever seen on a sock? The heel was so shallow there was no way either of us would have been able to get our foot into the sock properly. So, after doing the heel 2 different ways I tried for the third time, this method. The third time is definitely the charm!!! The heel is perfect and I'm so pleased with how it looks!
Your explanation and demonstration is wonderful. Clear and easy to follow. I love how there are no holes or gaps to deal with in the shadow wrap heel that you have demonstrated. Thank you for your video!!
Thankyou so much so clear I gave up on the fish lips could not work it out this looks fab
I discovered this heel through Denise and haven’t used another heel since. I like that you aren’t limited to 56, 64, or 72 stitches and it’s easy. Great closeups and explanations, Jana. 👍🏻👍🏻.
Me too!!
I as well had problems. This is now my go to for this heel! I’m so excited now 🎉🎉😊❤
Me too!! There is also a “modified shadow wrap heel”. I think I will combine the two as an experiment.
You are a wonderful teacher. So clear and down to earth. Thank you.
Thank you! 😊
When starting the contrast color, I shove the tails down into the center of the sock
Throughout my self taught knitting experience of knitting 2 at a time, sew as you go on my flat bed machine, knitting in the round, and now onto my Dean and Bean CSM this is the easiest toe/heal I’ve ever seen for hand knitting. Thanks so much for clear and conscience instruction. I wish I would have seen this years ago.💙
Thank you for the video, it's great, i'd watched other video's and got confused, and when i did get it there was lots of 'holes', your technique is brilliant, it suits my style of knitting and it's really neat no 'holes', your descriptions mother, twins, triplets fraternal twins etc really made it clear and concise. Thank you again.
Super nice! Thank you ❤ will knit this heal in my next pair of socks 🎉
I have finally found the perfect heel when you want a contrast heel! Thank you so much! Just used this technique for the first time and it came out perfect.
Yes it makes sense. Thank you for keeping your work in the frame so we can see it
Wow! Yet again, another phenomenal tutorial!! You might make me leave gussets in the dust! Thanks!
Hi Jana! So happy I found your channel! I am a beginner knitter and your explanations are helping me so much! Thank you!!!!❤
She's awesome!
After years of the simple wrap & turn heel ( I don't even remember where I learned it ) and occasionally having to "go back" and tighten up some holes with an extra thread at the end - I am completely IN LOVE. I work toe-up freestyle 99.7% of the time using a formula I put together years + ago, but this makes a much more secure heel.
Video was easy to watch- clear, precise and instructional! I will be watching more and I subscribed!
I so love when I go looking for a tutorial and I see that you’ve done one for it!! ❤ Like Jana visits every time I need a new skill refresher. Thanks!
I have not knit socks yet but this looks fantastic! I am getting my magic loop needles delivered today and cannot wait to cut my teeth with this gusset method. Thank you 😊
Great description, especially for newer knitters. I’m looking for the strongest heel because my son wears them out
Perhaps using heel stitch - where you slip alternate stitches on the knit rows - would make a denser fabric, which would wear better?
I loved this vid. I make socks all the time and I’ve been using German Short Rows for my heels but no matter how careful I am, I usually seem to have a gap on each side of my heels. Then I have to sew up that gap afterward so I will definitely try this new way (after I watch it a couple times more) while I’m knitting. Thank you for making it look easy.
I have just finished my very first sock heel according to your tutorial. And I am really happy with the result. No stichmarkers and no counting needed, just knitting. Although I was very intimidated to knit the sock heel, I had so much fun at the end. Looking forward to my second sock! Thank you so much for charing this great tutorial with us 👍
Oh my goodness. I love how this looks! Thank you for this video. It's amazingly well done!
Thank you so much for making and uploading this tutorial.
I've made seven socks in my whole life (christmas stockings don't need pairs) and for every one using the wrap and turn I've had to try the heel at least three times.... I got this on the first attempt!!! I am never going back thank you so much!!!!!!
Oh goody I want to try it. I love Jana, she can TEACH! Fish lips kiss did not work for me.
This was so clear! I think the colors helped to give me the visual I've been missing to feel more confident to make more socks! Thank you for your help!
Excellent video. Clear directions and visuals. Thank you.
Love your shadow wrap.
I learned a lot.
Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a fabulous tutorial. I love that you have the camera focused up close to your work. It makes it easy to see how you are working the stitches. Thank you for your tutorial.
Thank you Jana! This is a very clear and easy to follow tutorial. This looks like an interesting method for turning a heel.
Glad it was helpful!
I purchased the fish lips pattern at 2.49 and still can’t do it because I don’t understand the reading patterns. I learn better by watching. So I’ve lost my money and still can’t do the fish lips. Thank you for offering your knowledge by video.
The author of the Fish Lips Kiss pattern, does have a couple of tutorials regarding her twin stitches. I think there may be a link in the pattern? However, I found the making of the template the most helpful thing in the pattern. I've used the template I made from the FLK pattern to be super helpful for any short row heel!
Same.
The fish lips heel pattern is 75p it’s no great loss
Yes the FLK pattern is involved makes a nice sock, bought my patt for $1. I definitely want to try this heel it seems sooo easy. Ty for all your help!
My go to is the FLKH. Ibpve got it memorized. But I’m always up for new methods 😊
Great video! Everything is so clear and easy to follow. I will definitely try it on my next pair of socks.
I like the shadow wrap because I can remember it. I did purchase the FLK, but didn’t know what the difference was. Thank you.
I have been using this method most often recently and love how the socks look. You did a great tutorial as always!
I want to go back from
The heel flap to short rows but mine always have holes. Going to try this method. I will do a few practice/baby ones w/ cheap yarn and then try w the good stuff. Love you Jana!!
This heel looks so nice im going to try this for my next sock
Thank you for this great tutorial! This is easy to understand.
To jest bardzo ciekawy sposób na piętę ' bumerang". Nie ma dziur ! :) Dziękuję, zaraz wypróbuję.
❤ Wonderful Tutorial! I luv your little story of the twins & triplets, lol! It reminded me of a needling group talking about sing songs for teaching different techniques in knitting or crocheting? I will try these out now after seeing a sick parade that has a similar heel. I have heard and made notes for the Kiss Heel, The After Thought, I've done. Also another called the Frugal. German Short Row Gussets...😮😅😅
Thanks Jana. I learned a lot from your fabulous tutorial.
Thank you so much!
This is absolutely wonderful I was going to do the German short row with my first sock but this seems less confusing especially with the rapping part thank you so much for the tutorial I should give it a try❤
German shortrow is easy too, but lots of people end up with holes. So this one is a nice beginner heel
I would have knitted together and purled together the last two triplet stitches and you will end up at the right spot to pick up the main color to continue knitting in the round. I also pick up and extra stitch on each side of the instep to ensure no holes. Thanks for sharing the way you do it.
I've been knotting for 2 years. And have 7 sets of socks under my belt. This is the first time I'm doing something other than a heel flap and gusset. Love the explanation and the view of the camera, I can see every detail as you explain. Will definitely be trying it again. Thanks so much!
Thanks for your tutorial! You've been very clear!!!
I’m so grateful for your video ❤ finally working a heel isn’t a nightmare for me. You’ve made everything so clear and easy 🎉❤
Glad it helped!
Thank you so, so much for this tutorial! As always, your directions keep things clear and simple, and I was able to finish my sock without it being a stressful situation. I love how seamless the finished sock looks! You're the best, thank you again!
Your tutorial is so well done!! 👍
Backdrop helps your yarn & stitches be very distinct & easy to view! You explain why & what you’re doing which others assume you already know!! This will be my go-to tutorial!!! Thank you!! 😊
Thank you so much!
It’s a great tutorial, very clear. Thanks Hank you. I will try this heel soon ❤
Thank you! Yours is the first video I truly understand on this type of heel. Mothers and twins and triplets, and thirds and high in steps .... thank you for the confidence to try these again.
Awesome method and thank you for a clear and detailed tutorial
P.s. love the colour combinations
Thank you for a very clear video. You’ve taken the fear out of the shadow wrap heel for me.
this is such a good tutorial thank you!! i am never doing german short rows again!!!
Glad it was helpful!
As always, very clear, easy to see and understand. Thank you so much 💓
I finally perfected the heel flap and gusset and the shadow wrap is the heel I want to try next. This explanation is amazing. Thank you! I’ve saved it so I can come back and find it for my next pair of socks. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this! I have had only limited experience with knitting socks which does not include shadow wrap heels of any kind. Now, I am quite eager to try this, as you have explained and demonstrated it so concisely. I just bought some new self striping yarn that will become socks with heels that will allow those strips to shine, uninterrupted, in all their colorful glory, thanks to you! 🥰
I have just learned to make socks and had to pay attention on the heel which row I was on. In the process of doing a sample heel using this technique and finding it so much easier. Thank you so much for this video.
Thank you thank you! This tutorial is the best I looked at when wanting to learn to do 2aat! It’s a game changer for my sock knitting! Much appreciated for this clear concise and easy to follow video! ❤
This is a great tutorial! Your filming style and explanations are up there with Very Pink Knits and I mean that as a huge compliment!
Thank you so much!
Wow! I am anxious to try this heel on my next pair of socks. I think I'm going to love this. Thank you!
That was great! Psyched myself up, watched this video and got my heel done! Quick and clean! Thank you.
This was wonderfully easy to follow! I’m knitting my first sock and this worked up so well following this. Thank you 🎉
I really really like this tutorial. My first one was not perfect, but definitely good enough to use on the sock. I was knitting. After four or five rows in, I had it down pat and was thrilled. It makes a nice heel.!
Thanks for showing this technique. I know many of them but this works perfectly without gaps or holes. 👍
You are my hero!!! I love the look of the shadow wrap heel and have watched others do it, but your instructions are the only ones that make sense 🙏🏾🥰❤️
I thought I had tried a shadow wrap heel once but it wasn't this. I will definitely give this a try. Thank you for this.
Perfect! Just perfect as all your videos! I knit the heel straight away, no tinking, no frogging, no sweat! If I had all the money I wanted I would give you half 😉💙 for all you do for us! Thank you!
The mother! This is genius. I’ve watched like 8,234 videos of this technique and decided I just don’t get it. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
My new favorite heel. I wish I could remember how to do it but I can always rewatch this video.
Thanks for another great tutorial! The pattern im currently using has a boomerang heel. I knitted it. Hated the look. Tried this one. It's perfect! ❤
I just finished my first ever heel thanks to this video love how you teach .
Wonderful!
Thank you for enabling me to turn a heel without stress and without needing to pull it back several times! This is so much better that traditional short rows. 😁
Glad it helped!
My favorite heel! I always come back to refresh each time as a new knitter. Thanks for posting 🩵
You are so welcome!
This looks like a fun heel for me to try along my sock making journey. Thank you for such a clear and informative tutorial, it is so appreciated.
Happy stitching!
✌️💜🧶🧦
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect timing ! Thank you. I have sock heels to do this afternoon. I am going to try this.
Where have you been all my life? Lol!! Can't wait to try this technique out. No more picking up stitches!!!
I'm right here! Thanks for watching :)
You have a wonderful way of explaining this.....thank you I just learned a new heal technique
Very nice heel. Interesting technique! Your instructions were very clear. Thanks for sharing with us.😊😊
I love this method. Thank you for this excellent, clear tutorial that is very easy to follow!
Wow I am so glad to follow your tutorials on heels I just downloaded your instructions wow I always made wholes on my German short rows but with your technique no more wholes 😊 thank you
Absolutely the best tutorial and my favorite heel to make!
You are always so clear and concise. Thank you so much.
Great video, very clear instructions! Thanks so much.
Loved this video. I’m going to use this technique with all my sock knitting.
I really appreciate your teaching. I've tried a number of times to knit toe up socks. But your instructions and verbal teaching put it all together for me. Thank you for your help. Katherine Shaw. 😊
Thanks so much! Happy Sock Knitting :)
WOW. This was so, so clear and exactly what I needed. Thank you, thank you so much!
You did a wonderful job. I'm saving this one!
That was amazing. So clearly explained. I can now do a contrast heel without the contrast colour showing on top of the sock! Thanks so much. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I have to try this. Ive tried several other methods and was never happy with the results i got. I think this will actually work fho for me. Thank you for sharing this.
The notes and tips were so helpful!!! Can't wait to try it out❤❤❤
Thankyou so much for this lesson It made perfect sense to me and I'm now turning heels with a smile on my face. I say "Magic" everytime I do one
Beautiful heel, I must try it!
i've always wanted to try this type of heel, but no tutorial helped, so i was going to just let this video pass. BUT THEN…i saw that this tutorial was yours, so i figured i should watch it. you had done a tutorial on turning the heel on a heel flap and gusset, which totally changed my sock knitting. now this one might do that, too. thank you so much for such great visuals and clear instructions 👏🏼 !
You’re welcome 😊
Perfect timing. I need to start a Christmas stocking and I use a short row heel. I always need to look up how to do it.
This is the easiest heel that I have knitted. I can now successfully knit socks. Thank you for this video tutorial.
Wonderful!
Thank you ❤ this is the best step by step clear demo of the shadow wrap heel
Glad it was helpful!
