This is a new series we are gonna be doing whenever we have dead time between our main episodes. It's a chance for us to answer some of the questions that you ask us often, or explore topics that we want to make a video about but don't think it should be a full episode. The good news is that means more content for you guys!
In this episode we dig into some optics setups (top mount red dot, offset red dot, and magnifier) since you all see us run these setups and ask us what we think about them. We also give you some valuable home defense training.

But real talk, if you're a regular joe kicking doors down, and forgot to zoom out on your lpvo like an idiot, you'd be pretty screwed at 8x indoors. Top mounted RMR's are quite nice for clearing rooms also because you have less blind spots when you are clearing a poorly lit room, so don't get plate checked but some turd crouched really low.... but yes more training.
I thought you were supposed to use lethal quantity of an unknown gas piped into the ventilation system for Russian hostage situations.

Now that we've established that most engagements are in close proximity, the ultimate optic sighting solution must be red dot and canted LPVO.

If you have a red dot/holo, you should be able to easily hit out to 300.
@Nicholas Rodriguez I've shot 270 yards with a Holosun on a 8.5" AR at 2 MOA targets in competition.

@Nicholas Rodriguez Alright id we’re talking mission specific and you just want to run a rig for your home (for me it’s an eotech with riser on an 11.5) well that’s great. But since your talking enemies having NVGs and equal gear to you I would point out our SF guys are rocking 14.5s with LPVO and offset optics now because it’s easier than clearing houses with a 10.5 and carrying an SR-10 on their back. (See Kevin Owens from fieldcraft discussing this).
I’m not saying that it’s necessarily always the “best” option, as there is no “best” option. Different criteria require a different setup. That being said, modern LVPO have an almost eotech sized eye box and give you benefit of magnification. While the cost is greater as I pointed out in the previous comment, to me it is more beneficial as I live in a more rural community. If I knew I would never need my weapon past 100 yards I would probably keep my eotech on my main rifle. As it stands I have a 13.9 with LVPO.
TL:DR You do you boo. Whatever suits you best.
@Nicholas Rodriguez And it’s easier to flip a magnifier then to tilt the rifle 45 degrees and use the offset? And we’re talking everybody has NVGs in this scenario and we just assume no one can afford a $600 pst $150 mount and $400 holosun?
My backup optic for close range is the inner cone of my weapon light.

Using an offset red dot with a higher-magnification scope is an intriguing concept that I hadn't considered before. I may just set up my M&P-10 in that way; I was originally planning to just get a 1-8x for it and be satisfied with that alone. Thanks for the idea!

How can I align my magnifier so that it magnifies my offset EOTech, when I switch from my regular EOTech? And do they make a mount to top-mount a mini reflex optic on top of an EOTech?

@@armoristif1410 512's still do, xps2 and 3 from what I've heard are like 1-2 moa shift, so comparable to just about every other dot and holo.

All the eye boxes suck on the magnifiers! I’ve have put 4 different ones through some significant training and they are not for shooting. I found them better used for identifying and that’s it. The offset with lpvo is what I found to be the best. Good luck with your training and thanks as always GT
Great work. Absolutely love that hand transition to shoot under the car. Perfection? Knee down or sprawl? Sprawl probably gives quicker acquisition but slower to get up. I'll posit acquisition is more important.

Top mount= 5lbs of peyote and 2lbs of shrooms mixed in with 3lbs DMT
Side mount= a cigarette
Magnifier= half a blunt

I think red dot on lpvo would be cool, you get a strong mid range sight with a strong short range sight and if the red dot takes a poop you can switch the lpvo to the lower magnifications pretty quick 🤙
been seeing a lot mount on forward optic mount. might be the way to go
The S&B dual CC has a red dot on second focal, but a reticle on first. It’s probably the best LPVO out there. Unfortunately, it’s expensive as fuck.

Primary arms 2.5x gen 1 prism optic with acss cqb is the way to go. They're like $200 and good quality. perfect for sub 200 yards

So now that super high red dots are all the rage is there still a height over bore issue? I run a micro red dot on my strikefire and if you sight it in for like 10yrds you can easily hit close targets but once you get to 50 or 100 yrds i just use the 3x magnification of the prism scope.

Got an lpvo and a red dot-magnifier setup. Im fine with the 1x on my Monstrum Banshee. The red dot on my other upper is quick to use in cqb but the dot looks more like a line when magnified

Badger ordnance condition one mount, offset dot. This is the way. I'm considering the ADM or larue mount with their red dot ring mount. It's like a high canted dot. Not sure how I feel about it

The best setup is irons with off axis backup irons. Iron sights are fundamental and will never break. If you can’t use them as fast as a red dot then you are just a bad shooter and need to spend $1000 on a carbine class.

@@gunth0ts You can even zero the offset irons sights for 25 yards for fast follow up shots. This way you can neutralize the target as fast as possible after hitting the no-shoot.
Do you even Boomer? The real answer is primary iron with two separate offset irons, one zeroed at 5m, one zeroed at 300m, and another zeroed for 1600m because fuck that prick Carlos Hathcock
