Ghanaians always complaining chai
I tired for them oooo
@@ominiekwe7241 Me too
I am dying with laugh 😂 🤣🤣🤣 over here. How do we think that Africa will ever come together? No way!
Govt have never invested in the entertainment industry in Nigeria. Private push and hard entrepreneurial spirit pushed Nigerian music. It took just 2 individuals (Kenny & D1) with the conviction and know-how to change our mindset about of music in Nigeria. Then we started loving our own and investing in it. Get your facts right. I understand some of the points he's trying to push. It is good to push your local artist, however he sounds so bitter doing that. Truth is......Nigerian artists are events crowd pullers. I can bet that if you get an all Ghanaians set up, you are not likely to get same crowd and enthusiasm. You have to think of the economics of the show too. You cannot grow if all you do is beef Nigerian's instead of constructive engagement. Ghana gave Nigeria Highlife music. We didn't beef. We simply learnt and took it up a notch. Today highlife is still thriving in Nigeria.
Finally, someone who got it! Kennis Music changed the face of Nigerian Music. They are private citizens who changed the narrative by putting the local artistes on air - like it or not. And they gave them a quota on-air time when the norm at the then was to do American songs AMAP.
Then there were individual fights for respect that brought recognition to the rest of the group. For instance, Eedris Abdulkareem stood his ground at a time when foreign brands were bringing popular US guys like 50 Cent and the like every year. He demanded equal treatment, tho his career took a hit partly because of that, but of course the then President was his biggest problem. His stance brought more attention to the need for corporations and brands to respect and promote the local artistes.
Then there were private media houses that invested in broadcasting local music videos - KennisMusic (infact, these days, this senior men even attend and cover live Grammy award shows), Hip-hop World/HipTv (which started the HHW Awards, now called the Headies), Naijezee, Music Africa was great then ...etc. There was no obvious government intervention in all these. Just the work of passionate, dedicated visionaries who had enough personality to believe that our musicians at home can hold their own against any oyinbo artistes anywhere in the world. So there you have it...
Nigerians - from the artiste to the common man - has been given nothing by the government. The only thing we don't hustle for is breathe. And even that is polluted - perhaps that's why we haven't started buying it. Interestingly, some Covid patients are paying for the oxygen they use in some of our government owned hospitals.
Chances are, if other African artistes come to Nigeria to start their careers, they may no even survive the competition. It's a tough world here where you must earn everything you get by fighting hard because the system is already built or deliberately or stupidly left to rot to mess you up!
You said it All👏👏👏👏👏
