It’s so funny to me when people will comment on what us depop sellers do and assume things straight away, it’s so far from reality of what it actually means to resell from thrift stores, I think our job is special and always will be, it gives life back to old threads, money to charities, clothes from going into landfill or dumped in third world countries and opportunities for people to find their dream clothing pieces!

This will be the first and last video talking about hate. It is definitely a topic known in the reseller community , so I feel I should talk about my view on the topic. Positive vibes only here on out ✌💕 keep going, they hate to see you succeed.
As someone who’s been thrifting since the womb because its what was affordable, I now resell and I promise there’s enough for everyone, so much clothes STILL end up in land fields.
Even me as a reseller I buy items from other resellers at their prices, and I don’t mind at all bc I wouldn’t have found those pieces if they hadn’t found it for me and posted it. 🤷♀️
preach!! you spoke on the hate so good!! every single business marks up prices. it costs probably $0.30 cents to make a chicken sandwich but people don't complain and will purchase it for $4. I definitely feel you- I would love to make thrifting content like you but I'm soooo scared to post because of all the hate and literal threats people get

when you were talking about the hate around depop sellers i want to mention that i always think about the people that say stuff like "but why are you buying it so cheap and then selling it for 3x the price you paid for it. the whole point of reselling is to make profit on the items (unless of course youre just getting rid of old stuff in your closet for cheap), but like, people think that its wrong to "steal from the poor" and then relist that stuff for a higher price. like i dont understand cause for some people that is their ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME. i hope this comment makes sense, thats just the best way i could explain where i stand as a depop seller. im struggling to find a job and have pretty bad anxiety, making it difficult for me to find a job that is suitable for me, and selling on depop literally helps me so much financially its insane.

I'm a depop seller myself and the reason, at least from my pov of posting garments for $30 is because there are depop fees, if you use depop shipping that eats into the cost of your garment, and the fact that you have to pay yourself after it's all said and done. Not to mention that, alot of y2k and 90s clothing is deadstock and acquiring it can be hard.

It's a necessity to post items for 30+ especially as a beginning seller until the shop gains traction or there's no money made.

There is an ENDLESS amount of clothes ! Resellers literally save pounds of clothes from the ocean and landfills.
Also I also forced myself to wear makeup today and it made me feel better bout myself 💖

I do re-selling myself and have felt your frustration first hand. I definitely don't think resellers deserve hate but I think there are some points being made that are worth hearing. One reseller doesn't have much of an impact, but the mass amount of people shopping at thrift stores now has often meant most of the 'good' items are gone, and also drives up the prices because of increased demand. The thrift store is for everyone, but it is usually significantly cheaper than retail stores and so has in the past been a place where people go when they can't afford clothes elsewhere, and are now competing with resellers to get what they need. It is true that lots of clothes donated still go to landfill, but these clothes are often the ones that resellers would never buy - out of style, fast fashion, poor quality or damaged items. No hate from me whatsoever, I love your videos but just wanted to share what I have learnt about this whole debate!
I love hearing new perspectives! I don’t agree with the prices increasing because of resellers .. Inflation is raising prices everywhere. you could also point the finger and say the lower income are raising the prices because they are buying also. I am no different from anyone else buying from the thrift store. Lower income are not “fighting for clothes”. One thrift store has over 20,000 clothing items. 💗

i worked at a Goodwill and i was getting 10 racks of clothing out but in the back? there was 6-8 gaylords full of clothes that were getting shipped to the bins and this was daily, so i do NOT think those comments know whats going on

I can't stand this criticism. Anyone who says their stores have no clothes must live in an area where people don't donate. MOST stuff in the thrift store isn't worth reselling. There is plenty...nobody will be left naked because others are buying. There are so many clothes tossed away in donation bins by US alone that it gets dumped in insane amounts in "3rd world xountries" and has actually decimated many local clothing manufacturers in those areas who sold their made clothing to survive. We ALL need to stop pumping more clothes into the overflowing pool and buy more used. Resellers are helping with that..
