She is One of my favorite writers! There is something about her words and her voice that is so comforting! I just want to get my hands on everything she has written and get lost in it. She was amazing! She will be missed but i take comfort in the fact that she has left a bounty of incredible books.

I am in tears and I didn't even know this woman personally. She has inspired me and a lot of my colleagues so much with her poetry when I was in Middle and High School. I remember her delivery of a very poignant speech that galvanized my desire to become an Author when I was at UConn-Storrs, CT. May she rest in peach. Dr. Maya Angelou you are my inspiration forever and I will try to never forget you and as an Author I will honor your memory as best as I can.

When I saw her.. I wondered if she was me?
Wow she means nothing to me because I've never met her but she means so much because of how she made me feel. My life will go on as normal but when I think of her I'll know she's gone and that's brings a small nervous empty uneasiness inside of me. RIP to pure truth and self expression I hope one day I can compare myself to what you were.

How many humans do you know can come here and actually live 9 LIVES? Many people say they can live 9 lives, but she proved she could. Her early years from 1-6 was ONE LIFE where she was tortured. Her years from 7-13 was another life where she was FINDING HERSELF and maybe LOST because she didn't speak, but God spoke to her. Then from 13-18 she was a teenager and became a single teenage mother. That was another life...From 19-26 she lived yet another life where she became involved in dancing.THATS FOUR LIVES before she was 30. Then we all know about her future lives she would live and it is these LIVES for which she is being most celebrated. God really had his grace upon her. May she sing the song of solomon with the angels. Such a blessing the world had her for so long.

I know she was a poet, author and racist and Oprah loved her like a mother. Not surprising, since Oprah's a racist, too.
It occurred to me while reading posts that her poem "I Rise" could be made into a horror movie where she slowly rises out of the grave and groans in a low voice, "And I rise, And I rise, And I rise...!" lol
