Things to See and Do in South Haven, Michigan

- South Haven is one of the most popular spots along Lake Michigan in the state of Michigan for people from both Detroit and Chicago to spend a day or weekend. The city has everything from a walkable downtown with lots of shops, restaurants, and even a farmers market to a beach with one of the most iconic lighthouses in all of Michigan. I also get to eat lunch at Clementine's which is a restaurant housed in a very historic building in town. Later in the video I head over to the Black River Preserve for a quiet hike in the woods and get some fresh ice cream at Sherman's Dairy Bar.

Very nice town. Very touristy. Reminds me a lot of Saugatuck. There's a lot of character and history here, like in Saugatuck. South haven has a gorgeous lighthouse and several good rockhunting beaches as well, also a lot of wineries. Awesome video!

So, I never questioned why it was called the Black River. Then one day I saw a Pure Michigan instagram photo of the lighthouse taken from an Ariel perspective. It showed the river dumping black dirt into the blue waters of Lake Michigan from the entrance to the river. So, makes sense.

There’s a Tex Mex place there I can’t remember the name of but it’s near the harbor. I’ll have to check out Clementines.
Ah, gotcha. I really enjoyed the food at Clementine's.
I have seen old cabooses used for different things including a McDonald's party space at the Owen Sound location before the management decided to donate it to The Owen Sound Marine and Rail Museum.
That's a great way to repurpose them too.
Some of the other Midwest states including Indiana have a South Haven too.
