  • This 3 minute video highlights your family visit to the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in the eastern mountains of San Diego County in Campo. Your family will enjoy a real 12 mile roundtrip train ride to the tunnel at the border with Mexico, with views of the backcountry and wildlife. Before or after your train ride, the museum has walking paths with railway equipment and signage to inform you on the history of railways. The Display Building entrance is included in your train ride ticket, and inside you will discover steam locomotives, restored passenger cars and a wonderful interactive exhibit titled Signal Science where you will learn and see how railroad signals work. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy outside on the tables and the swings for the kids. Visit www.psrm.org for schedules and entrance costs. Operated by the volunteers of the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. Donation from Todd and Mason Clark Family of the Signal Science Exhibit. See you soon in Campo.

When I visited, I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of SMV #9, interestingly enough I came down specifically from Santa Maria to visit it, sitting in the workshop awaiting repairs. I'm curious, did the gentleman who was working on it who had the medical emergency ever finish it up?
