Thank you for all your reports although I would like them to be a little longer... I'm absolutely loving this race.. It just blows my mind that any human can do a solo voyage around the World and even more so in a race... Just amazing.
@@jeremymitchell995 thank you! I try to strike a balance between succinct and detailed, but also have to be mindful of time to produce them as I write a lot for the websites as well. Only so many hours in the day!
The way that low is developing through Thursday and Friday is nuts. Windy app is saying 50 kt winds just north of Kerguelen off their starboard beam. I hope they stay safe!
Again, excellent reporting on this very fast sailing race; a question came to mind- if a vessel was to cross over the designated “ice boundary line” what remedy or penalty could be applied?
It's a good question and took a bit of research. I've just done an explanation of the Antarctic Exclusion Zone (AEZ) in my latest video at ruclips.net/video/A5KS1gXijN0/видео.html
Morning Mark. Great update. How close do you think Sam Goodchild can get over the next couple of days? Appreciate that the leading 2 will then stretch away again.
He's positioned well to the north, so will pick up the wind earlier, but with the speed the low pressure system is moving I'd guess at maybe a 50 to 80 nautical mile gain, but it will most likely be temporary.
Seems that northern option (Jérémie, Nico) will begin to pay in the 5 next hours Positions of the two leaders (Seb, Charlie) seem perfect, they can now start to head north and they will probably keep the lead. Positions of Thomas and Yohann are more intriguing Yohann is heading North / West so is reversing back probably to escape the slack zone In a recent video, Yohann said "and who can I see there ? Charlie.... this is a good news, because where Charlie goes this is generally the good way to go". Ok Yohann, but damned why have you decided to not keep on tracking little Charlie ? I have been a little suprise to see him heading north not matching Seb and Charlie, the idea was good but obviously the window to do that was not good anymore, he has been locked in a slack zone. For Sam Goochild, Yannick, Paul this seem to be good they will probably catch up a little being at the front of an eastern depression. For Boris, Justine, Clarisse and Sam, well... they are at the end of this depression, so they will not take the greatest benefit. If gap is stabilizing even decreasing, gap will probably increase again with the lead in the next 5 hours
I agree that Yoann's track looks dire at the moment, but should be better once he's got himself out of the wind hole he's in. The northern option should look good for the boats slightly further behind, but I think Charlie and Sebastien will be the ones to make the best use of the wind.
The waypoints are the Capes, and I talked about VMC, which is Velocity Made Good on Course. I did a little explanation of it on ruclips.net/video/0cnfWs5XERY/видео.html
The Albatross is using whats called Dynamic soaring. Trading height for speed and gaining lift from the change in relative wind speed across the water with height... No need to flap... Nature showing off as usual.
He lost his electrics on Saturday. See www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/281782/Vendee-Globe-Total-blackout-for-Crazy-Kiwi . He's in 32nd place at the moment.
No coffee mugs ads and no nonsense reporting is what I prefer so I keep coming back here.
Very little chance of me selling coffee mugs I think!
I also have enough mugs but can't get enough of the tracking.
Your site is the best for catching up on what’s going on, without a bunch of long discussions.
Thank you! My aim is to keep to the point while adding good clips from the skippers when I have them.
Thanks for your excellent coverage. I'm not a sailor but I'm greatly cheered by the entire experience. I watch every day.
Glad to hear you're enjoying and cheered by it!

@Sail-World well you do a brilliant job.
Thank you for the weather forecast. It remains exciting! ⛵️💨
It really does! I'm hoping they can all avoid the worst of the wind in the low pressure system, and instead hit some high speeds.
+1 to all the 4 comments below .... I enjoy the short and sweet to the point information ... thank you
Thank you!
Great job!
Thanks!
Keep up the great work, loving the updates!
Thank you Chris! Let's do another Savvy Navvy update on the wind tomorrow!

We all wish them safe passage through the high winds.
Wonderful updates. Any citing of marine life?
i enjoy the video, more routing prediction for different skippers would be great. pick on from the front and another one from the group behind.
It is something we're looking at. I just need to work out how to do it without the video becoming too long.

You Mentioned GPS 'Way Points'' do the competitors have to visit each of these Way-points? PS Thanks for these great updates.

please can you add the number of days they have been racing when you intro (have run out of fingers and toes to count this end)
So have I! I'll do the maths and try and say 'Day xx' when I start the video.

Great to understand a bit more about the Albatross in Sam Goodchild's update!
It's important to note that gusts are gonnna be in the 70-80 knots range so this is a big big storm
Yes, at the top end in the worst areas it could be that. Let's hope they can all avoid the strongest winds and biggest seas.
What penalty is there for crossing the ice boundary?

That prop in your hand is for what ?
It’s a prop.

Why dont any sailors point the cameras up atop rigs? Secret sails hoisted???
Some do!
