    Yes infact he really sings temperato legato and can both master the voice big and small, his color tuched my heart many years ago.
    When I only had access to recording pieces listening to grammophones and not internet.

    Solo chi non ha orecchie per ascoltare,non si accorge che Corelli è un fenomeno che non ha avuto,sinora,uguali.La sua voce titanica eppure dolce viene dal cuore.E tutte le cose che nascono dal cuore sono eterne e Franco Corelli sarà eterno per la voce che la natura gli ha regalato.

    • @mikeprevost8650
      @mikeprevost8650 5 лет назад +1

      Unexpected? Going up to the major 5th is pretty standard in performances, whether it's a tenor's Bb or baritone's F. Bjoring sang this in the key of E natural and went up to a B. I've sung it in C, and hit a G. Most of the time, anyway. I really prefer to sing it in Bb, lol. The F is easier.

    The greatest tenor of the twentieth century. We don't know how great the tenors of the eighteenth and nineteen centuries were but Franco Corelli is the greatest I've heard. Even Luciano Pavarotti, a great tenor in his own right, lauded Corelli's mastery, control, tone and controlled dynamic voice and energy.

    Come ho scritto precedentemente non ho intenzione di polemizzare. Rispondo con qualche riga di uno dei più grandi critici musicali dell’epoca ( senza scomodare Personaggi di altre categorie, mi sembrerebbe irrispettoso nei confronti di un artista operistico, chiunque Egli sia.).CELLETTI: il passaggio di registro( la zona “mista” , Mi bemolle SOL bemolle,) uno dei punti di forza dell’organizzazione vocale di CORELLI , è un RARO ESEMPIO DI PERFETTA SALDATURA tra le risonanze “toraciche “ dei bassi e dei centri e le risonanze di testa degli acuti. La zona mista in CORELLI HA LO STESSO VIGORE, VOLUME, PIENEZZA E VIBRAZIONI DEL SETTORE CENTRALE E POSSIEDE UNA CERTA FOSFORESCENZA DEL SETTORE ACUTO….SI SFIORA IL FENOMENO VOCALE…E aggiungo io , HA UNA VOCE MERAVIGLIOSA! Siete comunque liberi, come è giusto che sia, di acclamare chi volete, così come NOI CORELLIANI facciamo col nostro IDOLO FRANCO CORELLI . Scrivete quello che volete, non continuerò e buone vacanze

    I am absolutely thrilled to find this magnificent rendition of this inspiring carol by the greatest tenor of all time, Franco Corelli! As was the case when I was privileged to hear him live, the most striking of the numerously striking aspects of his singing was the indescribably powerful emotional impact his voice had. Franco Corelli's legacy will last for as long as there are listeners with open hearts, a love of music, and the willingness to be transported to a world of beauty by his incomparable artistry.

      mi piace il Suo pensiero e La invidio per aver avuto il privilegio di ascoltarLo dal vivo e vederLo. Ascoltatori che Lo amano ce ne sono ma è estremamente difficile farLo conoscere ad un pubblico più vasto e VALORIZZARLO COME MERITA, quando i mezzi di comunicazione di massa ,TV, ecc... rispondo a leggi di mercato più che a quelle della QUALITA', dell'ARTE e del sentimento. L'UNESCO ha riconosciuto La Lirica Italiana come patrimonio immateriale dell'Umanità , ma non mi risulta che Qualcuno, tra Coloro che possono, abbia pensato di dedicare una Piazza, una Via, un busto, al GRANDISSIMO FRANCO CORELLI che ha avuto il merito di riportare in auge il Belcanto oltre ad aver ridato ampia risonanza alla Scala con le Sue sei inaugurazioni, di cui cinque consecutive, senza parlare del MET. UNICO ARTISTA ! Chi Lo facesse passerebbe alla Storia per aver dato un seguito alle parole dell'UNESCO.....Ma temo che rimarranno solo belle parole

    why does it sound gargled? did he have a too fast of a vibrato at that time or was it just the recording quality?

      that is the sound of the recording. his "fast vibrato" was fixed much earlier on

      John Oregan, haha. That’s funniest comment I saw in RUclips about classic operatic singers. That was good. But to be fair I think it’s just a bad recording. It’s amazing how his voice projects even with poor recording.

      Most tenors I've heard sing this piece do so in E-flat which gives them a ringy B-flat at the end. Up until I heard this recording, the only other famous tenor I knew who sang this a half-step higher was Jussi Bjoerling. Now I can add Franco Corelli to my list. That was a very exciting B-natural Mr. Corelli sang.

    A beautiful Christmas song. But difficult to sing. It demands a very powerful voice to be sung properly. Franco could do it, so could Jussi. I think Caruso might have had a big enough voice, but he was never recorded with modern equipment.

      Please spare us the ever recurring and inevitable hints to Caruso... as if he'd been the reincarnation of God. Put him next to Corelli in this song and I'll tell you whose voice was bigger and had more squillo.....

    This Franco guy has a pretty voice, but I prefer Bocelli's version. Andrea has more guts and is louder.
