    Key takeaway for me - regardless of what or how we invest, it’s good enough as long as the investments generate sufficient returns to sustain our lifestyles, especially when we are no longer working full-time and rely mainly on passive income.

    Why Dimensional Fund? I compared Dimensional Fund with SPY from 2016 to 2023, and SPY outperformed Dimensional Fund seven times. iShares MSCI ACWI ETF (ACWI) has a significant correlation with the S&P 500 Index (SPX). When SPY goes down, everything goes down. Should we simplify our lives and just buy SPY?

    Is Christopher’s article using lump sum or DCA?

    • @KyithNg
      @KyithNg Месяц назад

      Hi Nick, this is Chris' colleague Kyith here. Most of the figures in the article is based on historical return if you lump sum invest. Imagine putting a large amount of your net wealth into it. If we do dollar cost averaging, it shifts the "lost decade" further into a different time period. This means that an unlucky person can DCA over 10 years and the returns are not so great (but might be better than this lump sum investing). Hope this helps.

    • @nickkeong7392
      @nickkeong7392 Месяц назад

      @@KyithNgHi Kyith, thank you for your prompt response. Yes, so I was thinking if one DCAs rather than lump sum, then the chances of hitting such unlucky 10-year periods where you see negative returns should be lower.

    • @M43782
      @M43782 Месяц назад

      @@nickkeong7392I would like to add, that if you think about DCA is could be a sign you aim to too big allocation of risky assets.

      Thats what i have commented on his videos before to emphasize on building muscles and not cardio. Men will lose muscle mass as they aged. And cardio speeds up that process. If he had taken this advice seriously and go build muscle his muscle would have helped burn his fats making his diet sustainable. Also he has to cut carbs. Limit carb eating to certain days

  • @jamesl2590
    @jamesl2590 24 дня назад

    All these subtle promotion and messaging about Endowus or certain funds. Just admit you are promoting for them. Don't have to keep emphasizing your neutrality or "it is not financial advice". Also, he mentions some downsides in both active stock selection and passive indices, but then went on to introduce other alternatives funds with more expensive fees, which are also either passive like S&P500 or stock picking by managers? Also, if S&P 500 (which contains most of the world's best MNCs with global operations - not diversified enough??) is in depression mode or in "lost decade", you can jolly-well kiss goodbye to the chance that other isolated markets will be safe.

      Thanks for the question. Sorry I missed out talking about this but I have written quite a number of articles on this as well. From evidence, most active managers do not beat the index and for those that do, they do not beat it consistently. This is why both Mr Loo and me advocate using index trackers to invest. Hope this clarifies and thanks for watching. - Chris
