The odds of having the matching magazine for one of those pistols now in your possession has to be astronomical! Great video as always!
Glad you're still posting videos! Too much fun viewing and learning.
The CZ Duo is a 5th Variation of left side markings and serial number on the right side. The 5th variation has the highest production number of guns produced.
Wow some great collections of firearms, thanks Tom!
Best of luck hunting down that mag Tom!
I love all your videos ! The 6.35 was a hugely popular round for it's time. I wish I could get a Walther model 9!
Excellent that you edit with the correct information post production.
Stabsarzt = staff doctor
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stabsarzt
In regards to shooting the PPK, I have a commercial model purchased new in 1982. It is the first firearm I ever purchased. It hasn't been shot in several years, since I switched to a compact 9mm for carry purposes and recently, in a trip to the range I took it along. I had forgotten how bad the recoil is on this little gun. It was so painful to shoot that I only ran one mag through it and back in the bag it went. I'd like to buy a shooter grade P38 and I wonder, are they easier to shoot than a PPK? BTW, Tom you have a very enjoyable and informative channel.
I like that CZ DUO 25, if I collect anything it is mouse guns.
Maybe I can help a little.
"Stabsarzt" means Staff doctor. So it's not a city but a function in military.
Stabsarzt is a German military medical surgeon with equivalent rank of Hauptmann (Captain). He may have even been a dentist.
Hi Tom, Your horsehair bore cleaner, is called Tow (pronounced toe) its Flax plant fibres, used from muzzle loader days and also as fire tinder.
Hi, little bit of Info to the party Leaders Holster
"Stabsarzt" is tecnically his rank so basically this guy Schminke was a doctor in the rank equal to a captain, which is the rank a doctor with a fresh exam would start in the army so basically you come from Med-school with the paper that saies "im a doctor" get to the army and after taking you in you become the Stabsarzt insignia oh by the way to translate it into english (wich will absolutely of no use ;-) ist a staff-doctor or staff-medical-officer or the likes one step up is the Oberstabsarzt...wich falls betwenn captain and major rank tell you something there is a wikipedia page (which is a source about as good as the newspaper from last week i know, but it gives the correct hirarchy...problem is, its in german only i believe... no Problem for me, I´m a German by birth but maybe it helps you out a little.
And to the Krieghof, i do believe, that officers that made Major or higher had to get there own stuff, in German it is "Selbsteinkleider" basically saing "has to provide his own clothing, arms so on" sounds strange but basically it comes from the even older tradition that the officer (staffofficers especially) are or were priviliged/aristocrat/nobleman how under no surcumstances want to wear the same scratchy uniforms and carry the same run down beat up arms.
in the Wehrmacht that became more and more dissolved, but even then it was practice, that especially high ranking officers say a colonell or generals had there own privat firearms, some very fine high quality stuff, it was even common that they basically carried familie heierlooms into battle like the old saing brought grandpas old Walther/Mauser along...witch after the weapons seizure after WW1 was very rare but could happen, and also those privat arms were documented in the soldiers papers (Wehrpass) so on controll the soldier could prove ownership of said gun.
How do you happen to have the matching magazines to the pistols and then come to own the pistol later on?
Perfect from iraq
what about a police marking identifying the Wiesbaden Police yet the luger does not have that special extractor ( is that what it is???) Its an Erfurt made in 1918 but with another date of 1920 underneath it?
I also have a PP that is numbered 344107 P. It is also an Eagle C. I would appreciate any info you might tell me about it. Would it be about the same time frame as yours? 1942 - 1943? No number matching magazine though, but it is marked with Walther Banner and 7,65 m/m.
I have a Walther P38 C series. Does someone have information about it, and how much is it worth?
Stab Artzt = staff doctor
Stabsarzt means officer who is a doctor
"girly gun"? Not at the time. Take a round from that little guy and you are hurt!
Wait......all Lugers are sexy.
I would like you to sell me a luger that is operating, friend price!
Stabsarzt, means that the first owner of the gun/holster has been a high ranked physicianin the german army. please, don't speak about "bring backs"..
these arms have been occupied by participants of the us army...
they have been brought to the united states long timexago, but if they are bring backs, they shuold be brought back to germany.. 😉
