The 2024 Lexus RC 350 F-Sport Is An Endangered V6 Powered Sport Luxury Coupe
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 сен 2024
- Buyers interested in purchasing a brand-new luxury coupe have fewer and fewer options to choose from every year. #Lexus is one of the few brands to still offer something with this 2024 #LexusRC350 in the F-Sport trim. The latest #RC350FSport is due for a redesign and as it is today, this is the last model in the segment to offer a naturally aspirated V6 engine. The #LexusRC may be part of a dying species, but it is still one of the best choices out there if you want a car that will last a long time with very little problems.

That V6 despite it being a very old but proven engine, it is still a masterpiece to listen to ~~ Lexus builds quality vehicles that will last you a lifetime and no other luxury brand from Europe focuses on this aspect. Yes this car is old just like the IS, but you can’t deny that it still a great car to drive.
Lexus is something which can take you everywhere and bring you back home
Agree with both of you! I love my RC350 F Sport. Not only comfortable & great to listen to, but like both of you mentioned, reliable & dependable 👌🏼
I drove one this summer, there was no sound, so refined and perfect. I could put a glass of water on the dash and drive. Never drove a car like this before. Not for speed, all comfort and good daily
The older models are faster , the newer ones are more refined. I prefer the older models up to 2017 but I can see the appeal with newer quieter versions for some people. Mine has a quad Invidia exhaust and so it’s definitely not quiet lol.
Lo do like that even the latest one is not bogged down with useless tech inside the cabin though. I hate large touch screens in cars and nanny tech telling you every 2 are going to crash when you are on a suburban street lol.
I try not to wake up the neighbours too early on a cold morning.
You just can't beat that reliability!! Love how well-built Lexus/toyotas are.
Well built…? Sure… injection molded plastic, hard plastic, vinyl seats from a mid level Toyota…? Yeah okay 😂
@@naveenthemachine your ability to grasp basis things is concerning😂😂😂 u can't differentiate between durability and make up good looks
That V6 and 6AT are 20 years old. They'll last forever.
Yes that’s the point so for all the haters this is why there considered boring which they aren’t there quality because they don’t re do everything every year which bring complications to manufacturing it’s why Lexus is the most reliable luxury car out there
@@Smdjrjj LOL, every year? You mean ever 10-15 years they don't do anything. So they can't make a new car reliable?
@@MercOne it's called testing for YEARS. They aren't desperate for sales like the big 3
@@matty1053Thats is just plain dumb man. The car doesn’t sell at all and when it gets cancelled, see if you can erase your ridiculous post. A car has to sell to earn its keep, has nothing to do with the big 3. You think they don’t need to sell more of these to justify its existence?
@@matty1053Keep thinking that when the car is cancelled. I can’t believe an adult thinks this.
I have a 2015 RC350 F Sport and she's my baby. Definitely not the fastest car out there but she's still fun to drive.
I have an RC350 F Sport too & totally agree. May not be the fastest but it’s fun, sounds great & super comfortable! Not to mention completely reliable & dependable :)
This will be a long comment but I've always loved the Lexus RC. When my mom was looking for a unique, reliable car in 2016 I suggested the RC; she picked up a base RC300 AWD. She still owns it, and it's the longest I've ever seen her own a car and she has never had an issue with it. When I bought my first new car, I picked up a 2021 Corolla Hatchback 6MT. I quickly found that I really wanted something more powerful, other people were having mechanical failures related to the manual gearbox, and as I work in the mountains and see a lot of snow AWD was very much a 'nice to have'. I also really wanted that tried and true 2GR V6. I considered ordering a new Camry XSE V6, looked around for gently used Avalons and ES350s, and was generally not super impressed with what I found. I lucked out and found a 2019 RC350 AWD with 10K on the clock. It wasn't the F-Sport, but I prefer the base model's analog gauges and the color combination(Eminent White Pearl on Glazed Caramel) was unique and beautiful. The fact it was loaded with every option except the F-Sport package and triple beam headlights(the standard headlights flow better with the exterior styling in my opinion) was icing on the cake.
This has been the best daily driver I've owned since my second-gen Acura Legend coupe nearly 15 years ago, and it reminds me so much of that car despite being a Toyota product. I generally prefer manual transmissions over automatics, but the 6-speed box in the RC350 is quite responsive when coming from the '90s and '00s slushboxes I've owned in the past. It's a heavy car but you can definitely get it to hustle around a corner; the torque split is RWD biased and when the traction breaks it does tend to get tail-happy. The paddle shifters are a good touch and can be used while the shifter is in Drive; this is useful for extra engine braking when descending hills. I do wish it would hold gears to redline in manual mode, however. Being a 2019 it doesn't have the touchscreen; I've grown used to the touchpad interface and can use it fairly well(driving my mom's RC300 on long road trips also helped). I'm one of those weirdos who don't like smartphones so I've never used the phone integration.
The foglights mentioned in the video are in fact cornering lamps; they'll turn on with your turn signals or if your steering wheel is angled past a certain point. While I like foglights, I find the cornering lamps quite useful. The RC can also be specced with a heated steering wheel; during this recent cold snap I found it quite welcoming(though like with Toyota wheels, the heating element is only on the 2-4 o'clock and the 8-10 o'clock sections). The Mark Levinson sound system is amazing, and is the best audio system out of any car I've ever owned.
As far as overall performance the RC350 is quick enough. It's a heavy car but it has more than enough muscle to get out of its own way and to be fun on twisty backroads. It's not a fire-breathing V8, but I'm not a fan of the small-displacement turbo I4s(especially with heavier cars), hybrid systems, or EVs that have flooded the market. The V6 is nice and responsive, and the RC/IS is literally the only way you can get a current Toyota/Lexus car with AWD and a V6.
I've had this car for nine months and overall it's been great. I've had a couple of quirks with the HVAC(it's blown full hot on the passenger side on a couple of mornings) but zero issues other than that. It's a superb car and is one I still see myself driving in ten years(or longer). If you are looking for a modern car that still feels analog and not like you're surrounded by a giant tablet computer, the RC350 or IS350 is very much worth looking at.
Owner of a used 2019 RC350 FSPORT AWD here, I love every second with it. Currently saving up/holding out for a facelifted RCF in the future. I was originally saving up for a GT/GR86 but one test drive in the RC and this was the coupe I ended up getting.
I go back and forward on how I feel about my RC not having the triple beams. Put it this way, IMO the regular lights fit the facelift profile so much better but Lexus Triple Beams are a nice non-essential thing to have. If you have the option to go for the triple beams do so, otherwise the stock lights are more than enough. I just didn't like how Lexus designed the lights for the facelift, they just look so cramped, the older RC's Triple Beams looked so much better. I am bummed that Android Auto isn't a thing for me from factory but it's not a deal breaker.
It's a weird yet beautiful car. Driving my RC always puts a smile on my face and I can't get over how comfortable it is to ride. The LFA inspired instrument panel is amazing to look at and is actually very practical when daily driving. Great car used, but brand new, you have to really be sure that the RC is the right car for you and that you can live with all its strengths and quirks. Shop around and test drive everything and if the RC ends up being the car for you, you won't be disappointed.
That dinosaur V6 is still a masterpiece gonna be sad to see it go
I’d still take this over its German competitors.
@@layne4376 It has respectable performance that I’ll be more than happy with, but where I really excels their German counterparts is in the reliability department.
@@layne4376 well yeah 311hp in a boat like this isn’t exactly face melting performance but it makes the right noises and will outlast any European engine for sure
I recommend a used RC350 for under $20k vs buying a new one. I test drove a 2016 and it was comfortable, quiet, quick, and the MarK Levinson sound system was spectacular. I didn’t buy it because while it looks good inside and out, very reliable, in the end it just didn’t elicit an emotional response and in a sports coupe I was looking for that. On paper it’s perfect, but I ended up buying an nb1 Miata and I know these two are not cross shopped often because they are vastly different in execution and experience. No disrespect to anyone who buys one of these as they are great.
Most Lexus sales are just warmed over Toyotas. So, I really salute Lexus for still offering this and the IS. No, it's not as fast as the German competition. But it's a super reliable Lexus!
Very underrated. Looks sharpe, looks fast so ppl expect it to be a sports car. Its not slow for most consumers very adequate.
It’s slow for a luxury car at this price
You can literally go as fast in a Camry for 20k less get the same v6, more features and more space
See lots of comments regarding Lexus vs. MB, BMW. etc. If you lease, get a German vehicle as they have become largely disposable although BMW seems to be trying;. If you buy and want peace of mind when the warranty expires then the Lexus goes to the top. Very simple-you pays your money and makes your choice.
If you want the luxury of reliability buy a corolla or Camry instead. Not a luxury car LOL

Just a small correction, the RC has the front end of the GS, the rear end of the IS and the mid section is from the IS convertible for added rigidity
Yes, you're correct.
Why does the IS handle better?
@@tlf361Probably because the IS is more cohesive and running on a dedicated a platform rather than 3 separate components developed separately and put together. Just my opinion
Why every Lexus IS/RC review on this channel is AWD with the 6 speed automatic? Ask Lexus for the RWD version of IS/RC with the 8 speed automatic because it’s a lot better than the AWD. Anyways great review as always, I’ve been watching for over 10 years.
These coupes look good reliable and v6 a lot of manufacturers got rid of the v6 but hope Lexus keeps it alive but I guess not
Nice review. I have a 2019, and I love the car. It’s sporty when you need it or just want to have fun, but extremely comfortable on a long drive.
The infotainment is lousy, but I just use Apple CarPlay, so who cares?
I have had zero issues with the car. At 25k miles it feels like it’s just starting to be broken in, and it gets better and better.
I get up to 32MPG on a long freeway drive.
This v6 is a great engine with growing mod potential to this day, gonna be sad to see it go
Yes, check out Frankenstein Motor Werks!
I had a 2018 RC350 I got rid of in a couple years. It was grey with a red interior... beautiful interior but dated drive train and tech, terrible fuel economy and lackluster driving dynamics. Looks like they haven't changed too much since I bought my car six years ago... or since they introduced it almost a decade ago. I was however upset to see they got rid of the donut shelf - the infotainment used to be set back far enough into the dash you could use the little space to hold a half dozen donuts in a box. It was brilliant.
Donuts? I use the space for bagels. Brilliant! but it does get a little messy when in traffic and attempting to toast the bagels on the heated seats and then slaver them with cream cheese.
I'll always salute the old school Toyota Cruise Control 🫡
LOL! Right! I kinda dig seeing it in new/old Camrys and new/old Corollas and new/old IS & ES models. It. Just. Works. 😀
Yes! Lexus gets it.
The difference is you can keep one of these for 10 to 15 years plus and it will still drive like new.
I don’t really like the newer headlight design of these though as the old triple beam LED just looked. Inch better. I’ve had the previous model which I have had for 7 years in F sport trim. I added the RCF rear centre console too which fits perfectly. That way you get 4 cup holders and you can easily put a small water bottle between the back seats and reach it from the drivers seat.
Add an Invidia Quad exhaust and it really wakes up this V6 and the neighbourhood on a cold start lol.
There are plenty of smart people out there that bought these while others that bought Euro cars are now regretting those decisions as they are money pits as they age.
I bought one, incredible... thanks for all the reviews. Helped me so much. I'm blown away. needs maybe 50hp more but I am so happy. Only disappointed with the stop and go mileage.
I had this when it first came out. Amazing car!
RC is sharp looking, just leaves a little to be desired for the price.
that's the 2GR-FKS not 2GR-FSE. RC was built from 3 different Lexus. Front is from 4th gen GS, Rear of the 3rd gen IS, and mid-section of 2nd gen IS convertible
Only thing is upsetting that they didn't really update the interior but you can't go wrong with the v6! It's reliable for what now like 20 years😂
You RUclipsrs have been calling the V6 and gas powered cars endangered for more than 5 years now. It was all a marketing push, there is no infrastructure for all EV’s by 2030 …just review the car for what it is.
Yup they can push and lie all they want in defense of EVs but the truth is that most people just don’t give a single shit about them. And you’re right about the infrastructure, we’re about to get screwed by these mandates.
Given that this is the last car in the segment with a V6, I'd say it is endangered...

The 2gr engine in this has got to be almost 20years old
Yeah hence why it is very reliable but it’s still an amazing sounding engine
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
The car is almost decade old and without any major upgrades. The platform is from early 2010s. It’s outdated and very pricey. Don’t get me wrong it still looks great and is very reliable, but the interior is very dated. Just don’t see any reason to buy it new.
Why did they even bother with a backseat?!! no one i know can fit back there 😂😂
This is disappointingly slow after watching your reviews with much heavier and capable vehicles such as the Stelvio and XM. It's so badly outdated and that transmission is beyond ancient. Toyota is notorious for taking forever to update certain platforms. Besides looks, there is zero reason to get this car over the IS. And even then, the next generation is overdue for both vehicles.

Lexus has a showroom full of newer vehicles that actual sell in good to great numbers. Being perfected to compete in 2023 with a car from 2014 is no accomplishment. Try harder.
@@chibbyylol Like what is the point now? Clearly the entire conversation is above your head. You couldn't convince me of anything with all that terrible nonsense. You act that they still sell it changes anything that anyone is saying about it. Time to logoff, you've run out of road.
Love the sleek exterior of the RC, especially this 2024 model. This 3.5 liter V6 is amazing and would take this over a turbo 4 cylinder any day. Beautiful car
I use to have a 2015 model. In 2024, only way I would consider this car again if it was a V6 Turbo or Inline 6 turbo with at least 350-400hp.
Agreed, however the RC350 is priced against turbo 6-cylinders. I would take the the RC300, however, over say a 430i.
@TheBreakfastLover that's is true that it's competitors are 6 cylinder turbos. For 60k, that's exactly what I did, I bought a g70 3.3t sports prestige awd. 311hp from the RC350F sport vs the 365 twin turbo v6 in the g70 but then again, the g70 is underrated from factory. People dynoing their g70 at 330whp stock, so it must be around 390-400hp at crank. Not only that, I get 100k mile 10 year warranty and I bought and extra $4000 60k 3 extended warranty on top of that. 160k mile warranty/13year warranty is super nice.
One of the slowest camera walks 0:02 😂 👍
i have a 2020 rc 350 f sport awd, 47,000 miles now and not one rattle or noise, super solid! and the cd player does play dvd’s so a movie is cool on a long drive, mine is white with the black 19 inch wheels with Michelin cross climate 2 tires looks sharp, i get so many compliments on this car on a weekly basis it’s crazy, great daily!! add a takeda intake and your good 😎
